24.01.2022 As Peter Pearse, Acting Principal at Endeavour College, remarked yesterday at the conclusion of the Connected Schools Reconciliation Action Plan Conference, 'do... you ever feel like you've been a part of something special?' The answer is a resounding YES. Yesterday, St Paul Lutheran School, Blair Athol, Golden Grove Lutheran Primary School, Good Shepherd Lutheran School, Para Vista, Salisbury Lutheran Kindergarten and Endeavour College took part in the inaugural Reconciliation: More than a Word Conference that involved more than 260 people coming together to better understand, appreciate and take action as a community to build respectful relationships between Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples, and others within the community. Our plenary speakers, Brooke Prentis, CEO of Common Grace - a movement of people pursuing Jesus and justice and Shona Reid, CEO of Reconciliation SA, delivered thought-provoking keynotes and 14 Spotlight Sessions that further explored First Nations Australians, their history, cultures, and stories including art, food and education were lead by gifted and talented individuals from near and far. We all knew the day was going to be an amazing journey and experience for us when we participated in the Welcome to Country and Smoking Ceremony lead by Jack Buckskin and Kuma Kaaru. This day will stay with us all forever as we celebrated the Connected Schools shared Vision that extends our confidence to respond to our Vision by getting involved in the Reconciliation Action Plans in each of our learning sites as we journey towards a just and reconciled Australia. As Brooke Prentis quoted in her closing remarks during Worship, "This is what Christianity is about. It's about dreaming impossible dreams and making them come true." - Revd Dr Joel Edwards. Thank you to Kyam Maher MLC, Blair Boyer MP, Michael Brown MP and Tony Zappia MP who attended and supported our community and to all who made the day possible and a fabulous success. 14.01.2022 Hard to believe that another Term has finished! We had many eager helpers on the last day of term, learning what it means to be a part of and contribute to a community. Some children chose to help Miss Bafile cook damper, which was then shared with the whole group and others helped with washing our sandpit and sandkitchen toys.
