25.01.2022 A huge thanks to Beelarong Community Farm who guided a few of our members through their site on Saturday. Beelarong, which is in Morningside, has 80 private plots all assigned and very productive. They also have several shared beds, including a food forest, a herb spiral, native bush tucker garden, a citrus garden, and even wheelchair accessible beds. Plus, they have a chicken coup, a kids mud patch and native bees. We walked away with many great ideas to apply to our littl...e patch in Salisbury. This is what it’s all about! Thank you Jocette & Dave.
17.01.2022 Spring planning time!! A fantastic members’ workshop today planning what and where we’ll plant as a group when Spring breaks. A recent decision to shift from private to whole-group-managed plots, means greater collaboration and knowledge share between members. This is especially useful for those starting out and wishing to apply what they learn to their home gardens. Among the decisions of what to plant, we discussed things like benefits of crop rotation, polyculture and... succession planting. So much to learn! Thanks everyone for coming!
14.01.2022 Things are ramping up in our garden! We had a great planning session 2 weeks ago and now this morning the potatoes and first round of snake beans are in! We’ve also got our seed raising green house up and running for the first time, with a great range of spring veggies getting started. Great time to be gardening
