19.01.2022 Congratulations to ALHD "Kya" and her recipient for passing their sound assessment. Kya is now an officially accredited Hearing Assistance Dog. Kya's accreditat...ion was completed a little differently as she is based in VIC. This was conducted by our CEO David over Zoom (online meeting). She was assessed on her sounds with the help of the local Lions Club and performed outstandingly. The Lions Club of Bendigo supported the placement throughout the follow up training period. This was made slightly more difficult because of COVID restrictions and did extend the follow up period. We are very grateful for their time and commitment in the more difficult circumstances. Kya is a Beagle x was sourced from Dogs' Homes of Tasmania.

13.01.2022 This September, Lions clubs are raising awareness of childhood cancer. Since its inception in 2009, Australian Lions Childhood Cancer Research Foundation (ALCCR...F), with the help of people just like you, has raised over $10 million dollars for childhood cancer research and has supported countless Australian organisations leading the fight against childhood cancer. Of particular significance has been the partnership with Garvan Institute of Medical Research, where ALCCRF and Lions Clubs International helped to fund the genome sequencing of 400 children with high risk cancer, allowing for more tailored treatment plans to be developed and giving kids with cancer a better chance at recovery and the childhood they deserve. https://alccrf.lions.org.au/lions-kids-cancer-genome-proje/
