23.01.2022 This is why it is recommended to not park under trees during periods of extreme weather.

22.01.2022 Sometimes trees like to lay down and have a rest, particularly when its very windy. However, theyre not always careful when they do. Avoid this happening to y...our car when winds are forecast and park your car under cover and away from trees. Tree resting on your bed? Give us a call on 132 500. 15.01.2022 Our crews at training last Wednesday night working on learning and maintaining skills required to effectively help the community

15.01.2022 This week our crews attended a building impact. An unfortunate driver hit a main support pillar for a carport causing structural damage. We had to winch the vehicle out before we could support the structure of the building ( we call that Shoring ) to make it safe. Shoring requires specialist training. SA State Emergency Service provides training courses in shoring for its voluntary members so that we can respond to incidents like this.

15.01.2022 Joint evidence search with Enfield doing the ground search and Salisbury deploying its drone to search roof tops.

14.01.2022 A few before and afters of a Severe Weather event on Friday 10th Jan that displaced approximately 60 roof tiles and took just under two hours to complete.

14.01.2022 We were a bit busy last year! Well done to all of the volunteers.

13.01.2022 Due to the current conditions and limitations for Covid - 19 we are unfortunately unable to participate in any community events or fundraising activities. We were part way through building our crew room which is going to be utilised for crew to get much needed rest and relaxation during extreme weather events. Given this we are looking for some support if anyone can assist us with some insulation and/or gyprock to enable to complete the crewroom ASAP If you can assist please message our page and we can arrange to collect the items.

12.01.2022 Come down to Bunnings Parafield and get a sausage and drink and support your friendly local SES unit

11.01.2022 Not often we get a building impact where the car has impacted the roof!! Remove the car, remove the broken fence and repair roof. A nice 3 hour job.

11.01.2022 A huge shoutout and massive Thank you to our good friends at Bunnings - Parafield for their generous donation of $200 in Bunnings Gift Cards. Bunnings heard that we were embarking on a project to build a crew room for our hard working volunteers to have a place to relax in inbetween jobs and wanted to help make it happen. These gift cards will help us buy the supplies we need to make this room a reality. We really appreciate the support of our local community and donations li...ke this enable us to provide extra facilities for our members. Thanks again Bunnings - Parafield

09.01.2022 Prepare early to avoid a visit from us...

09.01.2022 A big thank you to the people at today's SANFL final for digging deep with generous donations towards the Salisbury SES unit - a sensational effort! It was a great turnout and an honour to lead the Holden parade commemorating the end of a record breaking 32 year partnership with SANFL!

09.01.2022 Salisbury SES assisted SAPOL with this search last week. Well done to the crew that attended.

08.01.2022 Salisbury SES were fortunate last Wednesday night to have Chris Wulczynski come out and run us through snake education. We were informed of the different varieties found within our area and how vital first aid can be for a successful recovery from a snake bite. Chris brought a blue tongue, stumpy lizard, 2 death adders and a taipan. Very informative and important message for all our volunteers on what to do and what not to do if we spot a snake on our activities

07.01.2022 Last Sunday five more of our members spent the day in Kuitpo forest being trained and assessed as Chainsaw Operators. They spent the entire day in Kuitpo ... no doubt there would have been some sore muscles on Sunday night ! Congratulations to ( from left to right ) James, Luke, Tenille, Jordan and James. We really appreciate our members who volunteer their time so selflessly to serve the community, day or night, rain or shine. Well done team.

07.01.2022 A mini tornado hit this house and displaced and damaged roof tiles. With rain forecasted we ensured the roof was water tight and left a very tidy temporary repair

06.01.2022 On Sunday three of our members spent the day at Kuitpo Forest at a chainsaw operators assessment course. They learnt all facets of chainsaw operations including the different types of cuts involved to safely remove damaged or suspended limbs, scene safety and basic servicing of the saw and sharpening the chains. Congratulations to Anthony, Danielle and Steve on successfully completing the course and becoming our newest chainsaw operators.

04.01.2022 A tree that went crack boom bam....into a fence and took out power and telco wires. Heather Baldock with some awesome pole work this time!

04.01.2022 Prepare now and look after your neighbours.

04.01.2022 A huge thankyou to our good friends at CRS Container Reconditioning Services Pty Ltd - CRS - Pat the Drum Man for donating 2 x 1000ltr IBCs to our unit. Last week our crews trained in pumping. They practised using the different varieties of pumps we have to empty one IBC into the next. We often get called to flooding situations during extreme weather and it is vitally important that our members are appropriately trained to deal with all sorts of storm related tasks.... Thanks again CRS Container Reconditioning Services Pty Ltd - CRS - Pat the Drum Man, your donation will help our members refine their skills to better serve our community. If you ever require emergency assistance from the SES, call 132500 and our crews will be happy to respond.

03.01.2022 A very big and heavy branch that managed to do very minimal damage! Excellent pole work by Grant McAllister! This branch dropped and rolled exactly how we wanted it to. Well done to all who attended.

02.01.2022 Advice Warning

02.01.2022 Our crew assisted with Mawson Lakes Carols last night. We helped Santa arrive to the stage and provided a safe exclusion zone for the fireworks :-)

02.01.2022 Flood Advice for SA. Take care when on the roads and dont drive thru flood areas.

01.01.2022 Salisbury State Emergency Service would like to introduce you to our volunteer of the month for August: Stephen Green. Stephen is one of our deputy team leaders and a much respected member of the unit. How long have you been involved with SES? I have been involved for almost a year now. I initally became interested when my sons scouts visited Enfield unit. I had been out of the defence force about 3 years and felt I still had valuable skills to pass on... What is your role and what training have you undertaken? My current role is a Deputy Team Leader for Team Bravo. I take this role very seriously and want the best for my team and the unit. I say my team because I feel proud to be able to represent the members of my team and coordinate their ideas, skills and work ethic into an effective and valuable asset. So far this year, 2020, I have completed the chainsaw course and re-qualified in first aid and are currently studying for rescue operations. Im keen to become a more effective member of the unit by expanding my SES skill base to be able to compliment the crews we send out to assist the community in emergency situations. What do you do outside of SES? (work and hobbies) Currently I am unemployed/semi-retired, but wish to work again once I have completed my rehabilitation. I am keen to undertake a training role with TAFE SA or similar organisation, but will settle for a role where I feel I can contribute. My hobbies are many and varied, I enjoy working in my shed on various projects, I enjoy bush walking and hiking, however my body doesnt like it too much anymore. I very much enjoy riding my motorcycle on long trips and seeing all that our beautiful country has to offer. I enjoy spending time with my pet parrots, dog and cat. What do you love most about SES Salisbury? Id have to say the members are what makes the unit. The commitment of the general members to the community and the ability of the leadership group stitch all of these different people with different skill sets and diverse backgrounds into a cohesive and functional unit is impressive. I love the way we all work together with a common interest in mind. Do you have any words for those interested in joining? We are all different people with different life experiences and diverse backgrounds, yet we all sacrifice a portion of our valuable time to assist our community and those in need during emergency situations. This type of community service can be fulfilling, exciting, fun, scary and sad, however because we share these experiences together we grow as a group and support each other through the good and the bad times, the only other group that comes close to this type of dedication is a family. Life is difficult and challenging at times and whenever you feel most alone and sad, there is always someone in our weird little family that can help pick you up again.

01.01.2022 Celebrating WOW Day at Salisbury SES with Bravo Team.
