01.01.2022 There has been a recent spike in positive cases of Panleukopenia (feline parvovirus) in cats in Adelaide. Please make sure your cats are up to date with vaccinations, as this is an effective protection against this highly contagious and very serious virus. It is spread via direct contact with infected cats secretions such as faeces, urine, blood, nasal discharge, or from contaminated surfaces such as bowls or clothing that has been in contact with the virus. Cross contaminat...ion from fleas is also possible, so make sure all pets are on a good quality monthly flea prevention. Symptoms are depression, loss of appetite, high fever, lethargy, vomiting, diarrhoea, nasal discharge and dehydration. If your cat is displaying any of these symptoms, please seek veterinary treatment as soon as possible. Vaccination is their best protection!
