21.01.2022 Savings or a cash buffer, simply put is a sum of money put aside after you’ve paid your living expenses Some people choose to put aside set amounts regularly or lump sums into higher interest rate bank accounts to grow their savings, but whichever way suits your life, having savings or a cash buffer is always a good financial plan

20.01.2022 Buy Now Pay Later or BNPL as it’s becoming more commonly known, can often seem to be a good way to purchase items without the initial outlay. However, there are a few things to keep in mind when using these services: 1 Keep an eye on your monthly balances and payment due dates, especially if you are using multiple providers, e.g. zippay, afterpay, open pay. 2 Make sure you have enough money for each payment in the account your direct debits come from. 3 Avoid late fe...es, this is where they BNPL providers make their money. 4 Think about these accounts as more like credit card or a loan and may impact on your borrowing capacity if you are looking to apply for a mortgage or personal loan sometime in the future. 09.01.2022 We all know that bushfires at this time of year are a real danger. Bushfires can travel at incredible speed. A fire as far as 20km from your home could potentially reach your front door in a matter of minutes. Even those living in suburban areas are at risk, with more than 90 per cent of Western Australia being bushfire prone. During a bushfire, there are three alert levels: Advice, Watch and Act, and Emergency Warning. To ensure your family’s safety, be aware of the level of... risk you face and have a survival plan that outlines what you’ll do if a bushfire threatens your area. Making last-minute decisions could prove deadly so having a plan is essential. Once the authorities issue an emergency warning for your area, if your home is not prepared, you must leave immediately but only if it’s safe to do so. For more information about bushfire preparation, visit the Department of Fire and Emergency Services. Taken from RAC information.

07.01.2022 I was recently invited to represent the Financial Planning industry at the Bunbury University to discuss and answer questions with the Business and Commerce students. It was a pleasant experience and the feedback was that the students valued the interaction with professionals such as the Accountant, Lawyer, Financial Planner and others. It hopefully provided some insight for them whilst considering their career options and pathways?

03.01.2022 A excellent presentation by Lee Smith, Regional Manager Southern Ports, at our breakfast meeting Friday 19th Feb.
