25.01.2022 September 14th - Sex Worker Pride Day Sex workers coming together to raise funds to help peers in need during this time. Covid has been an extremely hard time for sex workers, especially within Victoria. We have no idea when our work places will open up and many of us are unable to receive government benefits. 20.01.2022 Strip clubs to re open with limits and escort services able to operate in Vic but brothels remain closed. To work legally SWers must register to work privately in Victoria, but there are many privacy and safety concerns in doing this. Decrim needs to happen ASAP!
20.01.2022 Workers safety is an ongoing issue in our industry. Management often don’t care what happens after you leave your shift. Additionally, security/management does not even help during your shift when we are assaulted, often taking the customers side. We can’t access fair work policies. All workers have a right to safety at work no matter what industry you work in. RIP to our sister.

15.01.2022 Today we submitted our submission on the review for decriminalisation of sex work in Victoria. Salome's Circle supports full decriminalisation. We hope that the government will acknowledge that the current legislation is problematic, and that is time to support and listen to what sex workers want.
15.01.2022 Dear Radical Feminists: Instead of informing yourself by your own perspectives, perhaps open your ears and minds and start listening to what sex workers have to say. There is so much more under this trauma lense you place on us. Image credit : @_swmemes
15.01.2022 Updates on the Sex Industry and Covid-19 Restrictions for Victoria
14.01.2022 Updates on sex work premises reopening in Victoria. Please tip the workers, many of us have not worked since March!
14.01.2022 We would like to acknowledge the strength and resilience of all sex workers and shout out to all our peer orgs for the amazing work you do. Listen to some of our members discussing sex work during Covid-19, decrim, radfems and the importance of peer orgs in an interview with Tom Tanuki. 14.01.2022 We would like to acknowledge the workers that banded together in 1975 that fought the criminalisation, discrimination and exploitative working conditions within our industry and to those that continue to advocate for our rights today. The industry still remains criminalised in many parts of the world and highly stigmatised globally. Even in the current context, during covid-19, our own government still discriminates against our industry - from not recognising migrant workers, being unable to access government benefits and not being able to return to work when other industries are given the green light, to name a few examples. To move forward we must continue to advocate for the decriminalisation of sex work.

08.01.2022 Today I’m introducing the Greens Bill to protect sex workers from discrimination. Currently sex workers are refused housing, denied services and have job appli...cations rejected simply on the basis of their chosen profession. All the way back in 1995 we were world leaders when we decriminalised sex work in NSW. Yet 25yrs later sex workers are still being harassed, assaulted and made to face an enduring stigma around their line of work. No one should face discrimination for simply doing their job. Sex work is work, it’s time we treated it as such.

04.01.2022 The stripping community is happy to hear that Victoria clubs will be opening as of next week, but what measures will be put in place to protect workers from Covid-19 transmission. We strippers often rely on large numbers of clients to make a profit. Will all touching dances be reversed to non-touching at a distance? Will we be required to wear masks? What about club cleanliness and workplace health and safety requirements (which we've had issues with for years)? Will we still be required to pay $100+ in house fees (YES, strippers PAY to work) with reduced clientele? Will strippers, as independent contractors, be liable for breaching social distancing/gathering requirements separate from the club? When will we be informed as to how we can work safety, and not risk our health?
