23.01.2022 The first weekend of the September school holidays also means that it's time for our Annual Camp! This year's camp saw Sections embrace the new, current Scout programme and enabled Youth Members to plan and run various activities of the camp. The highlight of the weekend was our Annual Dinner, where various awards were presented and numerous achievements were acknowledged. Thank you to all those who helped out over the weekend!

23.01.2022 Our ACC, Group Support has shared this with us, so I thought that I would pass it on. It has fast become a popular tool in Scouts but like all social media, please use this wisely.

12.01.2022 Hi everyone, sorry that I haven't been on here much lately but being in a smaller community, you get to wear lots of 'hats'. While the Federal Elections were on, I was employed by the AEC for 2-3 weeks after getting over a bout of the flu and now I am back helping my family with our agricultural business and a few health issues, so there's not a lot of time to do anything else. This is why I like Lone Scouts because it can work around me as a Leader, like it can work around any busy lifestyle of a youth member or their family. Lone Scouts can keep you 'Scouting'!

11.01.2022 During COVID-19 lock-down, a lot of 'mainstream' Scouting Groups turned to Lone Scouts to see how we apply Scouting. Well, to tell you the truth, we apply it the same way as everyone else does however, we take everything into consideration. For starters, if our members want to catch up during the school holidays, it happens! We don't go by a school term, we go by what our youth members want and sometimes need. This is especially the case with Lone Venturers. One of the main ...reasons that youth join our Venturer Unit is to not only to continue their journey in Scouting but also to achieve their Queen's Scout Award. They meet on a regular basis, thanks to various communication platforms that have been tried by other Scout Groups and they successfully apply the New Scout Programme that is supported and implemented by their dedicated leaders. Our Cubs are also meeting on a regular basis and get to choose their activity and who leads it, once again supported and implemented by more dedicated leaders. C-19 may have stopped a lot things that we do as Scouts but it also taught us how to use and embrace the many resources that we have available out there that have been 'fine tuned' for our activities. Sharing resources with other states has also been a great advantage for everyone and now we are reaping the benefits of what we can do with these resources. I must say though, our youth members faced this challenge 'head-on' and it's remarkable what they have achieved!

11.01.2022 What is the difference between a Scout who is a member of a mainstream Group and a Lone Scout? How many times have I heard that question! If you are a member of Lone Scouts, you are still a member of Scouts, it's just that we apply this differently and have been doing so for over 100 years. Lone Scouts and their Adult Helpers are guided by a Leader who ensures you have all the support you need to take on different Scouting challenges. Program resources are sent to our youth ...members with all the information a Scout needs to complete their tasks and achieve their badges. We also encourage our youth members to communicate with their Leaders on a monthly basis (at least). Adult Helpers are a vital link to Lone Scouts and our Leaders provide them with help and support throughout the Scouting program. This allows our youth members to carry out their tasks under the guidance of their trained and qualified Leaders. Once a task is completed, their work is sent to their Leaders for checking to make sure that their work meets the requirements of Scouts Australia and then signed off. See more

06.01.2022 Thanks for the research, Rover Scouts NSW!

05.01.2022 So what are we up to now? We are preparing for our Annual Camp! We try to hold this on the first weekend of the school holidays and all Sections are involved. They can participate in onsite and offsite activities but the main reason for the weekend is to mix with one another, catch up with their Leaders and have fun. We also acknowledge those members who have achieved major awards and that's in all Sections.
