18.01.2022 Sunset on the eve of the race and the riders have shuffled off to bed. All riders have now registered and are a little apprehensive of the wind. RD warns to wat...ch out for Victorians at the front of the race. Our youngest rider, No 7, Dillon will be flying the flag for South Australia. Both passing traffic and Bronwyn have reported poor track conditions so the RD will get the front convoy away early on the WAA line stages.

14.01.2022 Little spin down at crackenback- trails are bone dry

14.01.2022 Another bike packing adventure on my unstoppable Salted Popcorn this weekend. I rode the Uriarra - Piccadilly - Mt Franklin - Mt Ginini - Pryor's Hut track. ...Mt Ginini is the highest point in the ACT at about 1600m. Left a little late in the morning then I planned but arrived at Mt Ginini about 7:45pm. Unfortunately it was raining with low cloud and I couldn't find Pryor's Hut so turned back down the mountain. The ride back down in the early morning hours was cold with very limited vis. You can't camp in the Catchment area so stopping wasn't an option. Managed to get back to The Cotter Camp Ground by about 2:30am - 130plus kilometres and about 16hrs later. Enjoyed every minute of it! I can't praise my Popcorn enough, it handles the bike packing really well, strips off for great fun around Bruce Ridge on the weekends and I commute on it everyday to work at Environment and Energy - Thanks Dirt Works for such a quality product. One thing this ride did highlight is the need to change my forks to a set of Carbon rigid forks for the extra carrying capacity - there's very little water in those big hills and the ability to carry more will be essential if I wont to go further.
