25.01.2022 A fully restored poster available in our online store is the Ronaldson Bros. & Tippett Ronatip Oils Poster. I have spent many hours redrawing this poster and modernising it with colour instead of the dreary browns that were available at that time in the 1920s. It is a vibrant poster that adds colour to any shed and is available in A1 & A2.... https://salterbros.com.au//ronaldson-tippett-ronatip-oils/ #RonaldsonBrosAndTippett #Ronatip #RonaldsonTippett #Oils #Ballarat #BallaratHistory #SalterBrosCollection

01.01.2022 An interesting negative in my collection of a de Havilland DH.60 Moth. The Negative dates between 1927 - 1929. DH.60 [Cirrus I] sold to Commonwealth of Australia without C of A. Registered as G-AUAS [C of R 176] 27.8.27 to Dept of Defence, Civil Aviation Branch and operated by Australian Aero Club (Victorian Section), at Essendon, Melbourne, Victoria. Fitted with a Cirrus II engine. Re-registered VH-UAS 31.10.29. Fitted in Sep 1932 with a Gipsy I engine. Struck by DH.60G VH-U...HP (c/n 877) and crashed one-and-a-half miles west of Maribyrnong, near Essendon, Melbourne, Victoria, Australia 20.7.35 during air race, killing pilot W H Zacher. According to contemporary eyewitness reports: "On 20 July 1937 this Month, along with VH-UHP was leading in an air race held by the Victorian Aero Club on a closed circuit course from Essendon. VH-UAS was being flown by William H. Zacher, owner of a ladies' hairdressing salon in Melbourne, whilst VH-UHP's pilot was Theodore H.B. Allen of South Yarra. On the final turn, some mile and a half west of the Commonwealth munitions factory at Maribyrnong, Zacher dived to obviate 'cutting the corner' and came up under VH-UHP whose propeller severed the tail plane of VH-UAS causing it to crash. Allen was able to force land, but Zacher unfortunately lost his life. The Argus newspaper report of the 22nd of that month states that souvenir hunters virtually stripped the remains of VH-UAS after the crash" Registration cancelled 26.8.35 as "destroyed".
