25.01.2022 A sneak peak of a really big piece that I have been working on. It was a special custom piece for one of @indahisland clients. It is created using all natural fibres and I love the blush shade, which was a natural cotton that I hand dyed using avocados. It is so heavy and contains sooo many metres of string. I am looking forward to seeing it in its new home. Deb

25.01.2022 It’s all in the details little proteas hand stamped into the clay stars. So much texture in this piece, every time I walk past it I stop to touch it and run my fingers through it. I think I will make some smaller versions for you, I’ll pop a poll up on my stories. So let me know. Today I have been busy working on those fibre kits as well as my website. Hoping to have them available Friday evening. Deb x

23.01.2022 This piece is so big, I can’t wait for you to see it in its new home so you can grasp just how big it is. So much love went into creating this piece for my client and a lot of communication to get it just perfect for her space. Deb x

21.01.2022 Just because this is one of my favourites, I love all the different fibres I used to create all this texture. This one is currently on display and for sale @bohemian_brew_vasse Hope you have a beautiful Tuesday. Deb x

21.01.2022 As a maker, one of the things that makes my heart full is when you share with me pictures of my pieces hanging in your home. I was lucky enough to see this one in real life when I was collecting my coffee and it looks soo good here. Thank you so much for sharing Nicole @thecapeeffect I loved creating this for you and sharing the process. It has to be one of my favourite pieces to date xx

21.01.2022 I can’t believe it was a year ago, that I created this bespoke piece for @indahisland and her Hamptons Farmhouse Reno. I’m thinking of recreating it in a different colour way.... any ideas? Deb x

19.01.2022 Love this piece I created last year, it’s made from a beautiful linen cotton by @marymakerstudio. Feeling inspired to make something similar for my bedroom as I have another role waiting to be used.

19.01.2022 Love looking back on old pieces for inspiration. Looking at making a few smaller pieces similar to this for my collection I’m working on for @bohemian_brew_vasse. Struggling to get into the studio though as today’s sunshine is just to good to ignore. Deb x

15.01.2022 A slow Sunday here in front of the fire, listening to the rain. Dinner in the slow cooker and all the kids happy, means I can sit and start this new weave. What are you up to this Sunday?

13.01.2022 Looking forward to seeing @indahisland Farm house Reno reveal on @readysetrenoau tomorrow. Love love love this piece I custom made for one of the bedrooms. It fitted the brief perfectly. Hope you have all had a beautiful Friday, I spent the day over in Nannup with hubby and one of his friends checking out the MTB trails. I was head photographer and shuttle driver as you can see in my stories. Deb x

13.01.2022 It was hard to capture but this piece has a shimmery linen intertwined through out and with the morning sunshine on it, it was sparkling away. It will definitely be hard to part with this custom piece. Love all the texture that I was able to create using a mix of @marymakerstudio and @wallflowerandwyatt fibres along with some of my avocado hand dyed cotton. Then to finish it off a scalloped bunting which I learnt from @hellohydrangea from one of her many weaving courses. It feels so good to be back making after a bit of a break. Deb x

12.01.2022 A little something I’m sat working on this afternoon. While I’m weaving away, I’m also working on my future business direction and plans for Salt House. I have a few things in the pipeline, that I’ve been working on. Which I can’t wait to share with you, meanwhile I have a question.... do you find putting colours and different fibres together for your projects easy or would you love for someone else to do that for you? Thanks Deb

12.01.2022 This little ocean inspired weaving is currently hanging @bohemian_brew. My new favourite little spot for a coffee and the yummiest breakfast. It’s set in the cutest stone cottage in Vasse. You should totally check it out and tell Narelle I say hi

12.01.2022 Cherishing the simple things. Hope everyone is staying safe and finding the good in this surreal world that we live in. My mum just arrived safely back in Perth from the UK. I’ve never been so happy to hear her voice.

11.01.2022 Such a beautiful day down here in the south west. I had a meeting in Margs this morning, so I may have stopped in and treated my self to the yummiest chocolate croissant at @margaretriverbakery and then took the long way home stopping in at all the tourist beach spots. Now to squeeze in a little bit of weaving before pick up. Hope you have had the perfect start to your week

10.01.2022 In love with my new business tags, that I’ve made from clay and hand stamped. I love the hand made feel they add to my work, instead of a perfect laser cut design. Would love to know what you think? Deb x

10.01.2022 An afternoon spent knotting in front of the fire, while day dreaming about beach walks. What’s your Tuesday looking like? Deb x

09.01.2022 This style has always been a favourite with the majority of you. In fact it’s been the piece I have created the most of. I always make them just a little bit different, so you have an original piece. This one I used luxe cotton and left the ends raw. I have to say I love it this way. What have you been up to today? Apart from working on my rainbow, I have been counting down the hours as The Hubby is home tomorrow after two weeks away and I am so excited.

09.01.2022 Thanks so much for the feedback on my moon and star inspired weavings. Looks like I need to get busy with those and I will definitely get onto that for you all. Send me a DM if you have any special requests for colours. Meanwhile I’m experimenting with an idea I have had for the last couple of years and then also inspired by @livingfibers Combining my new love for weaving and my enjoyment for painting from my school days. It’s been along time since I’ve painted and so I kept... putting it off as I was always worried that it wouldn’t be good enough. But today after having a chat about believing in yourself and to just give it your best try with my kids. I thought I should practice what I preach and give this idea a go. So hear I am, inspired by our coastal location that we live in, I’ve created a little abstract background on canvas and now I am trying to add some magic (hopefully) with weaving and embroidery and see what happens. Is there something you have been putting off, because you are scared you will fail? Deb x See more

07.01.2022 A close up of that big textural piece I was recently working on. Nearly all of the materials I have used in this piece are from @marymakerstudio. If you are a maker yourself and haven’t come across her supplies yet, pop over to her page as Brydie is getting ready to release a new collection of sari silks. Her silks are one of my favourite fibres to work with and add the most amazing texture to a piece. Deb x

07.01.2022 Perfect stormy weather to be inside with the fire on and play with my new toy that I found recently on our local for sale page. I’m so excited to teach myself the art of weaving on a heddle loom and to be able to start creating all the pieces I have been dreaming of. I love the history behind this loom that I purchased and can’t help but wonder about all the pieces that have been made on here before me. I think it was originally purchased back in the early 90’s. If you are in the west, stay safe. Deb x

07.01.2022 Happy Saturday, sneaking a quiet coffee back in bed looking at recipes! I need some new breakfast ideas.... what’s your favourite??

06.01.2022 Perfect start to the week, I had one happy hairy boy this morning as he hasn’t been to the beach all winter. Hope you manage to find time to do something that makes you happy today

05.01.2022 A few little adjustments for my client to make it perfect for her space. It’s a wet and windy day down here in the south west and I am enjoying being inside with the fire. I’m just about to start my last custom order I have at the moment and then I can’t wait to try some new ideas I have planned. Deb x

05.01.2022 This piece would have to be one of my favourites. It is the inspiration for one of the custom pieces I will be working on soon. The blush fibre is all hand dyed with avocados, it creates the most beautiful shades. I actually have a batch bubbling away on the stove at the moment in preparation of dying some more string. I love creating one off pieces, if you have an idea in mind for something you may like, either for your home, business or event. Just send me a message for a chat. Deb x

05.01.2022 Just finished stitching the little clay stars onto this piece and I love it. I created it for my little G as every night we say love you more than all the stars can’t wait to put it up by her bed for her. My big girl tried to pinch it for her room haha. I made the clay stars yesterday and imprinted then with @sarahmaddisoncreative protea stamp as she has them on her doona cover. This piece was woven with so many different fibres, plenty of favourites from my scrap basket that were to good to throw away. Some velvet and cotton from @wallflowerandwyatt and some squishy felted wool and raw silk from @marymakerstudio. I’ve put a little video up on my stories, where you can see the details up close. Deb x

04.01.2022 For those who may have seen me creating a dye from organic onion skins a little while back. Well I finally got around to dying something with it this week. Totally not the colour I was expecting and I’m not sure if it’s because the socks are a cotton/poly blend, either way I’m loving the results and can’t wait to experiment some more. So I have 2 pairs of knee high socks for my girls for only $4 and some old onion skins. Winning!

03.01.2022 Happy Wednesday! I am enjoying some time with my hubby while the kids are at school. I’ve almost finished this piece I was working on last week. Just a few bits to add to the fringe and a little trim. It will be for sale @bohemian_brew_vasse when they reopen on the 1st June. Deb x
