21.01.2022 From the Harm Minimisation Team at Wyndham City: An invitation to join the Stepping Out Working group. The 'Stepping out! Building stronger social connections for older people, free from gambling harm' project is a Prevention Partnership Project in Wyndham, funded by the Victorian Responsible Gambling Foundation. This project aims to build the capacity of activity planners, providers and seniors in Wyndham to understand the causes, risks and signs of gambling harm, and to en...courage seniors in Wyndham to consider alternate venues and activities for recreation, instead of gambling venues. Your experience as a senior resident of Wyndham will be invaluable to this project. I would like to extend an invitation for you to join the Project Advisory Group, which will bring together people across the sector, to meet and discuss the project and key deliverables. Your input may for example include reviewing and providing feedback on program materials developed for the project. As a member of the Project Advisory Group, it is expected there will be up to 5 meetings across the course of the 18 month project, and occasional input via email.

12.01.2022 ONLINE WORKSHOPS OPEN! Early in the year I began teaching illustration workshops at Saltwater Art Studios. This was a big milestone for me and took many months of preparation. Now due to the current health crisis my in person workshops have closed but I have now made these workshops available online! Digital classes include Pet Portrait Drawing, Wildlife Drawing, Botanical Illustration and Finishing techniques. Video feedback options are available! Step by step processes are written in detail with video recordings of my drawing process. These art classes are a perfect opportunity for home activities and to learn some new skills. www.jessicajaneillustration.com/shop

11.01.2022 There are still many ways to connect with community during lockdown, with art classes, dance, playgroups and foodbank!

10.01.2022 Hey Team Salty, Things you can do. Support local business. Small business needs you to keep them afloat. Don't share pictures of panic buying online. Every new picture creates more panic buyers. There is no shortage, we're creating the problem ourselves.... Buy what you need for this week, not the next six months. You're only depriving others of what they need. Respect staff in shops. Don't shout or scream at them. It's not their fault. Be kind to others. Pop a note through the door of an elderly neighbour with an offer to help with grocery shopping, dog walking etc. Include your phone number. Keep a respectful distance from others, avoid handshakes and try not to touch your face. Wash your hands well and often for at least twenty seconds. Cough into your elbow. Sneeze into a tissue, then dispose of it. Wash your hands again. If you are unwell, stay home. Even if you think you can power through, remember it's not about you, it's about the more vulnerable members of our community. Think about how you can keep your friends or groups connected online. Stay calm. Older generations were asked to sacrafice more than we are being asked here. Let's look after them without moaning or panicking. Stay positive. Tell us all about the the good news stories going on out there!
