03.01.2022 This was a particularly special install - not only because it was for a truly amazing client that quickly became a friend, but because of our location. We spent our time chatting and soaking up this gorgeous view of the Byron Shire! It was truly magical being camped up there with a small group of lovely fellow travellers.

03.01.2022 Learning to do your own maintenance takes time and patience. Most people prefer to have someone else do it because it is time consuming and tricky at times! I decided to post some tips as I know there are some of you who have embarked on the self-maintenance journey at some stage during lockdown. 1. Have a large mirror in front and a handheld mirror at the ready. It really helps having that second mirror when you are sectioning the back!... 2. Use small bands to section and hold hairs where you want them. Trust me, it's a game changer when you're working your own head! Put the band on, then push the band to the scalp (not so tight it hurts!) I recommend that you section and work on 5-10 dreads at a time. Only sectioning one means you'll have loose hairs from all the surrounding dreads getting in your way. If you do all the sectioning and put all your dreads in bands in one go, you will find that your scalp will most likely become tender by the time you get around to them with your crochet hook, therefore making it quite an uncomfortable experience. 3. Once you're satisfied with your work, carefully cut the band off. If you like tight roots like I do, you can now run over the base of the dread where the band was - but this is not necessary if your band was nice and close to the scalp (I use the pointy end of a tail comb to push the band close to the scalp of each dread right before I crochet it.) 4. Try to recruit a friend to section and band the back of your head for you. I do my own and it certainly can be done, but your sections will remain neater and there will be less crossover hairs if you have help for this part. *Loom bands are ideal if you want cheap bands that tend to break and come out of your hair after a day or so. *If you want bands that can be worn for days if not weeks, get mane and tail braiding bands for horses. They are very strong and take much longer to go brittle and snap!

02.01.2022 Hey dread heads, I wanted to share my organic, dreadlock-friendly, eco-friendly shampoo bars and scalp oil! My shampoo bars are great for dreadheads and 'normies' and are suitable for most hair types. I have two different ones on the go; one is a basic unscented bar and the other contains a mix of pure essential oils that I've chosen to nourish your scalp and hair (that happen to smell delicious). ... The dread oil is a conditioning oil that's great for dry, itchy, flaky, sore or sunburned scalps and for dry hair... Once again, you don't need dreadlocks to benefit. I use it after every wash and once in between washes, but some people may get better results from more frequent use. The lip balm contains high-quality ingredients from Tasmania and is one of my personal favourites out of all my products. It comes in 'Cacao Mint' or 'Herbal Blend' flavours. Shampoo bar $10 Dread oil $20 Lip balm $5 Pack of all three for $25 (limited time only) Collection available from St Albans VIC or I am happy to post at buyer's expense

The synthetics all come with a loop at the top so you can wear them as temporary braid-ins (for those without dreads), loop-in temporary dreads (if you have dreads already) OR they can be cut and used as permanent extensions! ...
