24.01.2022 Kids on the road How have our kids adapted to life on the road? Its too soon to tell the long term effects, and it is a bit of a social experiment, but we aren’t the first to have made the choice to live in a van and travel, and the community is getting bigger by the day! The kids complain a lot! It never ends haha we could be in the most amazing location and they don’t have the capacity to appreciate their experiences. But if the opportunity to connect with other kids i...s available to them, it wouldn’t matter if we were camped on a pile of shit, they would love it! Humans, no matter what age love to connect with other humans - it’s just that kids haven’t developed the fears that hold adults back from connecting with other adults (I could be speaking for myself here). One skill that the kids have picked up through travelling is the ability to form deep connections with other kids very quickly. They understand that the friendships that they develop on the road will be fleeting. I understand that it’s painful for them to form close friendships and then have to leave them. But I know when they look back on their childhood, they are going to have some unforgettable memories from the experiences that they had with other kids while travelling on the road.

22.01.2022 B.O. To Go Equilibrium contains a variety of essential oils including Sandalwood oil which is distilled from the sandalwood tree. The Australian Sandalwood is native to the central and southern parts of Western Australia. The tree is a hemi-parasite, which means that it requires a host tree to grow. The preferred host tree used in Australian sandalwood is the Acacia tree, also native to Australia. The two trees form a symbiotic relationship and live together throughout the li...fe of the sandalwood tree with the host tree providing necessary nutrients to the other. The main constituent of sandalwood oil is santalol which contains a range of health benefits including anticancer, anti-inflammatory, anti-bacterial and anti-psychotic properties. It is also said to provide a calming, relaxing, and sedative effect. Indian sandalwood does contain higher levels of santalol but the price of the oil is about 3-4 times in comparison to the price of Australian sandalwood. Not only is sandalwood beneficial from a health perspective, the sandalwood scent is like no other and it has a deep, rich, woody aroma. Sandalwood has been used traditionally for thousands of years in religious/spiritual ceremonies throughout the world. In ancient traditions, a drop of the oil is placed on the middle of the forehead to open up the third eye. The third eye is believed to hold mystical powers and to open up one’s extra sensory perception. The third eye represents the pineal gland, a small pea sized gland that is part of the endocrine system, located in the centre of the brain (between the two hemispheres). Sandalwood oil has been found to increase oxygen around the pineal gland (perhaps supporting what humans have known for a long time). It has been suggested that the pineal gland (combined with the lungs) produce DMT, short for dimethyltryptamine, a powerful hallucinogenic that is reported to produce profound spiritual experiences. But what is really interesting, Sandalwood’s host tree, the Acacia, contains high levels of DMT! B.O. To Go definitely won’t induce any profound spiritual experience but it will prevent B.O. It comes in two sizes: 25g & 50g - link is in bio!

22.01.2022 Happy 20th birthday Athena For anyone who doesn’t know, Athena is my stepdaughter - and she is an extremely forgiving and understanding stepdaughter and the BEST teacher I have in my life. You teach me unconditional love (when I stuff up a lot) and you teach me what true growth is (you don’t realise how far you’ve come). Thank you x We are so proud of you. ... You are the best big sister a sibling could have, just ask them even if they were too busy playing to talk tonight! And even if I don’t know how to show it as much as I should by now - you are the best stepdaughter a Mum could have. I love you, we all love you, and I’m going to start hugging you more, so get used to it!

21.01.2022 Im a member of a group called the #socialmethodsociety, run by @mumswithhustle. The course teaches Mums like me how to grow a business using Instagram. One of the challenges this month is to share our business values with our community. So here’s a quick rundown on Salubrious Source’s values. Connection to self. What does this even mean? There is a spiritual element to this one. I believe that there is far more to each human than our physical body, and a brain. During ch...ildhood, and life in general, we can lose that connection to our true self. It took until my mid 30s to identify the disconnect and recognise I was living others’ values, causing a lot of inner conflict. Salubrious Source is about reconnection, primarily the reconnection to the feminine (I was very masculine dominant). Balance is another key value. I was so career driven because I thought that’s what a good Mum did! I wasn’t attuned to my children’s needs at all. For me its important to create/maintain/achieve: The balance of motherhood/personal pursuits. Balance of the masculine/feminine. Balance of both sides of the brain. Balance of intellect/intuition. Balance within the body. Inspired by nature the plants came into my life when I was open to their teachings. I understand they don’t have the same effect on everyone, but for me personally, plant medicine has accelerated neuroplastic changes (obviously don’t have data to back this up...but I don’t need it, I know). It is a teacher like no other. The plants helped me to understand my emotions, helped me feel appreciation more, reconnect to my true self, and achieve more balance. So that’s it: connection, balance and nature. I’m nominating Eliza @the_flow_society and Courtney @layla_and_mummys_books to share your values!

21.01.2022 A great amount of research over the years has documented how the right and left hemispheres of the neocortex relate to one another. We now know that the right hemisphere processes spatial, nonlinear, abstract, and creative thinking, while the left hemisphere processes logical, rational, linear, methodical, and mathematical thinking. The latest research suggests the right hemisphere processes cognitive novelty and the left hemisphere processes cognitive routine. The majority ...of people operate from the left hemisphere of their brain because they’re hardwired into automatic habits and programs they’ve memorised. You can think about right hemisphere as the territory of the unknown and the left hemisphere as the territory of the known. - Dr Joe Dispenza, Becoming Supernatural. I would love to know the effect that travel and frequently entering new environments has on the brain. For me personally, I like change...probably a little too much (I’m ex ADF and I changed job locations like I changed my undies ). Our kids may even be a bit scarred from the constant change. But we do have plans to settle and I think I have found a way to satisfy my desire for constant change and new scenery, whilst being settled in the one location though! If you are seeking to change aspects in your life, one way to help create change is by breaking up the monotonous routine. Travel brings new environments, new scenery, new friendships, appreciation, and reconnection with yourself and family. It is so healthy in this day and age where complexity, overwhelm, and stress dominate. We first left Brissy in a 40 year old van and we paid $6.5k for it (the van on the left). We had no idea what we were doing but it’s all part of the adventure learning along the way. If you even have an inkling about taking a gap year, and you’re looking for inspiration, check out these accounts: @thisislivin_barry_ @mccracker_of_a_trip @snookshooksnooks @travelling_through_life_ These are only a few of many family travel pages and their pics are stunning!

20.01.2022 Morning everyone! I’m slowly rebuilding my website. It’s not finished yet, but I’m working quickly to get it up and running. I’ve written my first blog post if anyone wants to check it out, have a read here: https://www.salubrioussource.com//hi-im-karen-and-im-a-swi

20.01.2022 We are the Mojica’s and this is our life

16.01.2022 So I said that I wouldn’t neglect Salubrious Source and I have a little bit! But...there is work going on in the background. As time goes on, I’ve realised that I need to get really clear, and I need some help getting the vision out of my head and into reality, and there is going to be upcoming changes. For someone who has ideas running through my head constantly, almost to the point where it affects execution - it’s really challenging (less chaos, more order needed - espec...ially with a bunch of kids who are homeschooled and with us 24-7). I’ve separated our natural deodorant and it now has its own identity. Go and follow us B.O. To GO Natural Deodorant. It’s all about having fun with the family while we create a healthy, effective deodorant for men, women, and teenagers. Even Ernell gets amongst it! Salubrious source is about reconnection and rediscovering the balance of the masculine/feminine. Plant medicine plays a big role, and I plan to post my ramblings when I receive insight from the plants (true story). I’ll be starting workshops towards the end of the year, using the plants to make cool stuff, and getting together with other women who are seeking connection with other women in a fun setting. The workshops will also be for the stay at home Mum who is keen to get out of the house and get some (non-clinical) therapy by hanging out with other women making stuff!! For anyone who is keen on DIY, we’ll have kits available so you have everything you need to make natural products (deodorant, zinc, natural perfume and other things). We use high quality, ethically sourced, life changing ingredients from around the world! We’re still travelling Queensland and currently in the beautiful Agnes/1770 area but we won’t be posting travel related content for the moment. Travel will be playing a big role in Salubrious Source, but not yet. That’s the update for now. Apologies for not keeping you all informed. I will make sure I start getting more active as the changes are introduced!

15.01.2022 I have some new followers, so this is an introductory video. I love writing but i think I’ll save that for emails. I’m not exactly comfortable in front of the camera yet, but I am working to change that! We live in a caravan, homeschool and I’m a plant medicine advocate.... Pre 2017, our life was very normal by society’s standards. I had a career, Ernell was FIFO, and the kids were in daycare/school. We were so overscehduled, I started to wonder what the point of life was. We were all very disconnected. We sold our house and bought a very, very cheap van (which I loved...so much character)! If you’re not on Instagram, I really recommend you start an account and head on over. It has much more of a community feel about it, and most of my communication is created for the Instagram community. I plan to introduce myself more via video explain what Salubrious Source is all about! Thanks for following

13.01.2022 The two most important days in your life are the day you are born and the day you find out why. - Mark Twain I believe every experience we have happens to us to shape who we are. My last employer was the dream employer. I worked on a high energy project led by a trailblazing engineer, that on the outside would’ve looked like the dream job. But for me it wasn’t meaningful. I was spending around 12 hours a day away from my kids in a job that wasn’t bringing out the best in me.... I wasn’t getting fulfilment and the project wasn’t getting an engaged, productive employee. It was mutually beneficial for me to leave, and we were fortunate enough to be in a financial position to do so...so I quit. Travelling gave me time to learn about myself and discover new interests. It was just before we left to travel that I came across a controversial but brilliant psychologist, @jordan.b.peterson who had become popular with (mostly) men who had lost their way in life. I found him at the exact moment in my life when I was searching for something. He spoke a lot about the importance of meaning and having purpose in life, so when the real tough stuff comes our way, the burden is slightly easier to bear. Purpose isn’t taught or supported in school, or maybe it is but I’m just not aware of it? Society encourages children to get good grades in school, to go to uni, to get a good secure job, regardless of whether it’s fulfilling or not. I can speak from experience that an unfulfilling job can be soul destroying and doesn’t allow one to reach their full potential. It might be a utopian ideal, but imagine a society where we are all living a purposeful life. Humans would be healthier and happier reaching their potential and the economy would be buzzing! It’s coincidental that we visited this place yesterday as I was writing this post (check out the name)!

13.01.2022 Our time up in the North has almost come to an end and we’re getting closer to Central QLD . I’m a little sad as I love Cairns as much as I love Darwin. We’ve had such a good time in Cairns, Atherton, Port Douglas, Townsville, Mission Beach, Ingham, Magnetic Island and we’re now in Bowen. We missed a lot of must do’s, especially once we arrived in Cairns when our kids discovered it was travelling family central and there wasn’t a shortage of other kids to play with everyday.... The secret to getting out and seeing things was arranging trips with other families - it made the experiences much more enjoyable and fun. I asked everyone what their favourite place/activity from NQ was. Below is their answers: Ernell: Creb track Karen: Creb Track & Big Crystal Creek Silas: Cairns Coconut Resort Fia: Cairns Coconut Resort Eva: Cairns Coconut Resort Nate: umm with a shoulder shrug (he pretty much loved everything except sitting in his car seat which sucks when you’re on a road trip). Based on the kids’ response, I guess it shows just how much humans naturally love to socialise! The natural beauty of the North is so impressive and the rainforest and waterfalls are unforgettable. It really does make me appreciate Australia and how fortunate we are to live in this country!

12.01.2022 So I’ve been a little guilty of ghosting on social media, which means that I’ve been posting inconsistently and infrequently - a big no no in the social media marketing world! Whoops! But I have been busy in other areas of my business and I’ve been fortunate to have some local businesses up here in Cairns and Townsville jump onboard and be willing to stock my product. Thank you for supporting a family owned Queensland business! It is much appreciated. I’ve added a new de...odorant and a matching natural solid perfume stick to our range called Equilibrium. This blend represents balance, homeostasis and harmony. It represents a balance of the masculine and feminine; order and chaos; yin and yang; and a balance of the left and right hemispheres of the brain. B.O. To Go Equilibrium also does its primary job of preventing B.O. and it works pretty well too! This blend was inspired by my personal experience swinging excessively between my masculine and feminine sides and being disconnected and unbalanced - it wasn’t healthy. The blend contains a combination of woody, earthy masculine oils including sandalwood, cedarwood, and vetiver, as well as floral feminine oils including geranium, patchouli and ylang-ylang. The balanced combination of oils ensure that neither the masculine or feminine oils are too overpowering. Our deodorant comes in a paste form and I reckon that this will become the norm for deodorants in years to come! The best thing about pastes over roll on or sprays (besides the fact that they’re aluminium free) is that you have to apply it with your fingers and rub it in to your armpits. Women especially, but everyone really, should be checking/feeling under the arms regularly. It helps us to get to know our bodies better, and the more we know our bodies, the more intuitive we become. Click the link in our bio for more information about our new products! Thanks for all of your help Sonny Samuel @health4lifenutrition @wholelifeatherton @wholelifebarrstmarkets @wholelifepeasest @wholelifemareeba

11.01.2022 Morning everyone, I’ve published another blog post! It feels very early noughties to write a blog but I enjoy it! I think I need to start a podcast though https://www.salubrioussource.com//im-coming-out-of-the-clo

10.01.2022 Everyday I used to work in a job that was unfulfilling. Everyday I would have persistent negative thoughts running through my head. I thought way too much and didn’t feel enough. I believed the only way to a successful life was through using my intellect. I lacked any kind of emotional intelligence. I had forgotten how to listen to my intuition. I had forgotten that I knew myself better than anyone. ... I didn’t realise how out of balance I was. I didn’t realise how disconnected I was from myself, and my family. I didn’t understand why I was so unhappy and stressed. Because I lacked any sense of self or identity, I didn’t realise that my disconnection was a result of living others’ values. I wasn’t living in a way that was true to myself. When we live in conflict with our values it’s unhealthy, not only for our self, but for those around us too. The function of the brain is to keep us safe. Nowadays, we live in a predominantly safe world but our brain still perceives threats wherever we look, which can hold us back from making decisions that are potentially life changing for the better. Sometimes the best thing to do is to take the irrational step, get out of our head, take that leap of faith and follow the feeling.

09.01.2022 The first of my ramblings....ignore the photo. The post has nothing to do with deodorant, I’m recycling photos! This is a snippet: My lack of a healthy (and balanced) feminine connection was illustrated by a lack of attunement to my children. The feminine is the nurturer, and emotionally aware, but I was so disconnected that I wasn’t in a position to recognise or tap into my maternal instincts. I would let my children cry regularly as babies without comforting them. I didn’...t give them touch or cuddles or hold them very often crucially important for infant development. The kids from a very young age spent up to 12 hours away from me during their infancy and early childhood years in daycare/before and after school care. When I did see them, it wasn’t genuine connection. I was always stressed and exhausted (from persistent negative thoughts) that for those 2 or so brief hours a day that we were together, I definitely wasn’t present. I am still very introverted and live in my own head far more than I should, and there are still many parts of the day where I’m not fully present, but I’m improving. https://www.salubrioussource.com/bl/plants-and-the-feminine

09.01.2022 I’ll be the first to admit that I’ve given away my power many, many, many times - through blame, judgement, criticism and other actions that reflect my insecurities. It’s not a nice feeling. I also have a close relationship with the emotion of fear. I feel it on a daily basis. Sometimes I let it win by staying comfortable, and other times I overcome and push through it. When you realise that you’re in control of your thoughts and emotions, and the more you recognise and unde...rstand your responses and behavioural patterns, it is the beginning of transformation and self-mastery! I think I might still be in the beginning phases haha but I’m aware It will be life long learning for me, but well worth it!

07.01.2022 Over these last couple of years I’ve been on a self-love journey. The way my life used to look to the way it looks now is very different. I still have to break unhealthy habits and relearn new ones but it’s much better than it’s ever been. I’m speaking to the Mum’s in this post, but it applies to all humans! For the men, just replace mum with dad. If you are a mum and you work, or if you are a stay at home mum with little ones, I know you have minimal time to even think... about yourself. If you are career oriented and you’re juggling the family, the household and your job, you become conditioned to the order and routine and you implement it like a strict headmaster, with minimal room for fun, creativity and connection. I used to be proud of my busyness and wore it like a medal until I realised there is no glory in the suffering, especially when my psychological and physical health was taking a massive hit. The stay at home mum life isn’t any easier; chaos dominates. Routine is out the window, adult conversation is minimal (except with our spouse who cops the complaints when they walk through the door...or that could’ve just been me ...whoops), achieving tangible goals is non-existent (we do though, it’s just a different type of goal and it doesn’t get much recognition). Oh and did I mention that spending time and money on ourselves as a stay at home mum induces a lot of guilt. If you don’t allow yourself time to be creative, time to do something you enjoy, time to have fun, time to connect with yourself and other humans, and time to pursue fulfilment - you need to love yourself more. You are worthy of a life with more enjoyment, more fulfilment, more fun, more confidence, more connection, and more balance - even if societal pressure dictates otherwise.

07.01.2022 What comes to mind when you think of Patchouli? Hippies? Me too!!... There is a story told by Holden Blunts (that’s his real name, look him up), that patchouli was worn by hippies to conceal the smell of cannabis. I’m not sure if there is any truth to that, and I definitely can not confirm Patchouli’s effectiveness at doing so...or can I?? When Patchouli is balanced out with other scents, the musky aroma combines extremely well with the woody, earthy, sweet and floral profiles of the other oils. There is also a variety of health benefits too! Patchouli has been used traditionally for over a thousand years - predominantly in Asia and Traditional Chinese Medicine to treat colds, headaches, fever, and abdominal pain. Modern science has identified more than 140 different compounds contained in patchouli that provides therapeutic benefits such as anti-inflammatory, anti-bacterial, anti-fungal, anti-depressant and even aphrodisiac properties. It works great as a natural deodoriser too! We use Patchouli in B.O. To Go Equilibrium not because of its cannabis concealing function but because of its B.O. concealing function!

05.01.2022 What is it about travelling that is so appealing? It reduces overwhelm. I have met so many women who were in the same position that I was. They’ve left or taken a break from the workforce. Their husbands were working long hours. Their kids were in so many different extra-curricular activities over and above school, and the stress and overwhelm became too much.... Regular exposure to new environments (through travel) is helpful if you are seeking to change your circumstances because you are living in the unfamiliar. It gives you breathing space to think about life, priorities and alternative lifestyle possibilities. Did I mention that not having to keep a house clean is the biggest bonus!

05.01.2022 I love talking about emotions!! Did you experience an emotional stress response this week? It could be feelings of overwhelm, anxiousness, worry, or irritability? If so, then your body’s physiological stress response would’ve kicked in, appearing in the form of an elevated heart rate and an increase in body temperature etc. I experienced this when I pressed the IG upload button to post my video today haha fears can be really silly sometimes - all I had to do was talk to m...y audience, it’s not like I was about to get eaten by a lion. However, our brains can’t tell the difference, and our body prepares for the perceived threat. But it’s all about rewriting the story, overcoming fears and creating new beliefs here! Anyway, when the temperature of our body increases, perspiration increases as a way to cool ourselves and bring our body back to homeostasis (or balance). B.O. To GO functions in two ways - on the body and in the body. 1. On our body Our formulation helps to prevent B.O. through absorption of perspiration - cornstarch and Diatomaceous Earth are the standout ingredients here. The bicarb neutralises acidic odour compounds that contribute to B.O. (bicarb is alkaline). The essential oils and fatty acids in coconut oil contain anti-bacterial properties which work to kill odour causing bacteria. 2. In our body The skin under our arms is permeable, so what we apply on our armpit soaks in, passes through the layers of our skin, and enters the bloodstream. Studies show that the compounds in essential oils can be detected in the bloodstream within 20 mins of application on the skin. The constituents contained in lavender essential oil (which is in our blend) have been shown to reduce stress and anxiety and have calming properties. To summarise: B.O. To GO will absorb and neutralise odours on your armpits, and the essential oils pass through the skin layers into the bloodstream and go to work internally on your stress levels, bringing your body back into balance. It’s a double whammy and a winning formulation!! Leave a in the comments if anyone else has a fear of public speaking! Surely I’m not alone

05.01.2022 Who’s interested in DIY? This is how we make a solid perfume stick at our workshops. Our ingredients are sourced from businesses who not only produce a high quality product, they’re positively impacting lives (such as Baraka Shea Butter and Lospalos Coconut Oil). We create our own scent, choosing from a selection of essential oils, using perfume formulation techniques. ... Did I mention that the perfume sticks that we create are edible! Not that they’d taste any good but nice to know. What we put on our body, goes into our body! Click here for more info on our solid stick perfume workshop: https://fb.me/e/dtE2UWsKV

03.01.2022 The caravan life: where your bedroom and dining room is in the kitchen! I find the caravan life to work well for us because I really don’t enjoy spending my time cleaning a home. Oh and Ernell and I have come to the realisation that he cleans so much better than me! You agree don’t you Ernell?! You have to get used to living in a confined space but the benefit to that is more time spent outdoors and more sunshine and fresh air! ... Its definitely cosy, but it helps us to connect more. Obviously connection is more than just proximity; it does require presence, but the caravan life and travel helps me to slow down and and focus my thoughts on the present and appreciate my life. And because I’m not spending so much of my time cleaning, we can spend more time doing more important things like having fun! The caravan life is also very community minded too. People are more willing to talk to each other and connect and the caravan parks are buzzing with travellers at the moment! It’s a great atmosphere on the road. So if you have a tent, camper trailer or caravan and you have the opportunity to get a break from work, or you can work from home, it’s well worth considering making your home on the road and relieving a bit of stress and pressure from the daily grind

01.01.2022 After getting some help with my branding, we’ve decided to give B.O. To Go Deodorant it’s own identity separate from Salubrious Source because it’s so good that it deserves its own special attention! For any new followers or for those who are following and not sure what Salubrious Source is all about, here’s a quick rundown. I’m Karen and Salubrious Source is about bringing the ideas and the vision in my head to life.... Over these last 4 years, I’ve reconnected to my true self. I’ve had excessive swings between values. I was far too masculine. I only valued my intellect whilst completely ignoring my intuitive side. I had an authoritarian style of parenting, demanded obedience from my children and was unable to tap into to my maternal instinct. I was employed in the corporate world where competitiveness and climbing the professional ladder was the goal. I was living with excessive stress and completely disconnected from my true self. I was totally unaware of my emotions and how my behaviour impacted others. So I quit my career (a step in the right direction), and started homeschooling the kids. At the time it was what we all needed. Building a connection with my children was the priority because they missed out on having an attuned mum during their infancy and early childhood. I started to develop self-awareness, and I began to understand my emotions and how they influenced my behaviour. But I did swing too far to the feminine. Life was chaos. Structure and routine went out the window and I struggled to organise anything in my life. What have I learnt during this time: a healthy balance of the masculine/feminine is where I feel most connected (and I suspect this is true for other women too). women step into their true power when their feminine connection is strong a purpose driven life is the most fulfilling travelling is life-changing! B.O To GO deodorant isn’t what I’m selling on this page - if you want a healthy alternative to antiperspirants check out our new page @b.o.to.go_deodorant. If you want to stick around and listen to a woman with some wisdom sharing some alternative views to society, happy to have you here! https://www.facebook.com/BO-To-GO-Natural-Deodorant-106192501264699/

01.01.2022 This morning I’m going to share five fun facts about me: 1. I was in the Australian Defence Force for 9 years (Navy). I joined so I could get paid to travel and it didn’t disappoint! I was able to see a lot of Australia and some overseas countries too. Plus I made some great friends, and it was a cool job 2. We have been living in a caravan for the last 3 years, with the exception of a stint in a unit back in 2019 to test the waters about returning to normalcy...we’re bac...k in the van. 3. I have 5 children, their ages ranging from 20 to 2. 4. I have a passion for psychological self-healing and personal growth. My favourite accounts related to this are @the.holistic.psychologist and @drjoedispenza. 5. If I could invite over for dinner in our caravan (...it’d be a bit squishy) four celebrities or well known people in their field, past or present, they would be: @jordan.b.peterson, @abrahamhickspublications, Terrence McKenna, and Carl Jung. @love_yr_style, @mrsaswim do you ladies want to have a go!!
