21.01.2022 Recently we celebrated our manager Anita for her 10 years of employment with the Salvation Army. We are so grateful to have her as part of our team - her good cheer and strong work ethic make #secondgear the positive place it is. She’s been working hard during COVID to keep the shop safe and open, and is taking a well-deserved break during stage four restrictions. See you on the other side everyone!

17.01.2022 Big shout out to Milane from @sharethedignityaustralia who dropped off our dignity bags yesterday. These bags are donated by generous Melbournites and contain sanitary and toiletry items, to ensure that no woman or girl has to experience #periodpoverty over the holiday period.

15.01.2022 Hi Friends, Following the announcement by Victorian Premier Daniel Andrews on 3rd August and in line with stage 4 restrictions, Second Gear Altona will be closed indefinitely. Whilst our thrift shop is temporarily closed for the next 6 weeks, we will continue the mission of The Salvation Army in Australia and support those most vulnerable in our local community with emergency relief. This is a challenging time for so many, and we want to remind you that you can reach out... to The Salvation Army should you need. 14.01.2022 Hello Hobsons Bay community. As we enter Lockdown 2.0 together, we will be keeping the shop open at reduced hours. We will have a skeleton staff of volunteers as many of our team are vulnerable. Please keep our team safe by social distancing in store, using the hand-sanitizer provided, and staying at home if you feel unwell. We will be keeping you safe by cleaning hourly, quarantining new donations, and taking every precaution.
