All appointments from today onwards are postponed and we await the day when we can call you and reschedule your treatment. ... For all of our patients who have closed their business like us or who have lost their jobs...hold your head high. Remember this too will pass and there will always be a silver lining to the clouds after the storm. Together we'll get through this. Have patience, remember to breathe and write a plan for how you can get through this pandemic. If you need help or someone to talk to, feel free to call us and phone your accountant for advice. 22.01.2022 So you may be wondering what we've been doing behind the scenes during these health restrictions? We've been searching every avenue to re-open!! After mass phone calls and numerous letters requesting an exemption, all sent directly to Dr Jeanette Young and Qld Health, we've received nothing but rejection. There's no health reason for our medical based therapeutic massage clinic to be denied opening simply because we do not align with health funds. ... After contacting John Hathaway (LNP candidate for Townsville in the upcoming state election), he was able to present our plight to the LNP and it caught the attention of Opposition Leader Deb Frecklington and Deputy Opposition Leader Tim Mander. We were honoured to have them all visit our clinic in Townsville, discuss our plight and form a plan. Over the last week they have presented Deputy Premier and Health Minister Steven Miles with letters of support from patients in acute pain, from Dr David Leach and a letter of recommendation from Shadow Health Minister Ros Bates MP advocating for us to re-open, especially since waxing and tattooing are permitted. Many thanks also goes to the patients who took the time to write letters to Deb Frecklington outlining the therapeutic work we do and the impact on their lives since the forced closure of our clinic. It's been truly heartbreaking to hear of your suffering and loss of lifestyle. As yet, we are still waiting to hear a response but we will continue to press onwards with the vision to re-open ASAP. 17.01.2022 We finally have news... This morning we received a letter from Qld Health replying to our exemption request from 3 weeks ago. Jeanette Young has declined our request for exemption to re-open. She is refusing an exemption to all Qld massage therapists who do not meet all three criteria in the latest health direction. As we do not align with health funds, we are unable to re-open. At this stage we have exhausted all avenues to gain permission to re-open. Under the health direc...tion it is unclear what date we can expect to be permitted to re-open for business. Please be assured we have everything ready for your treatments ie: full PPE, COVID SAFE plan, sanitiser etc and fully compliant with industry COVID standards. If you're feeling disappointed with this result...we are too. Devastated in fact. Should you wish to challenge this decision by Qld Health (Jeanette Young) and formally lodge a complaint, you can call them on 13 74 68 and request an email address to submit your request for us to re-open. 11.01.2022 Exciting news to celebrate !! We can re-open on noon this Friday It's been a long wait enduring through the restrictions. Thank you for your patience and understanding. Many people have advocated for an earlier re-opening and supported our plight for a written exemption. Even though stage 3 restrictions have lifted allowing us to work, the battle to acquire essential service status continues...especially with a second wave and further restrictions possible in the future.... Opposition Leader Deb Frecklington, Deputy Opposition Leader Tim Mander, Shadow Health Minister Ros Bates, Townsville City State Candidate John Hathaway, Federal MP Phillip Thompson and the CCIQ continue to pressure Health Minister Steven Miles and CHO Jeanette Young to provide the exemption. My unending thanks and gratitude to all of them for their support and advocacy during the last 13 weeks. There will be a few changes in the clinic with COVID compliance. Your reminder emails to confirm your appointments will outline the changes and the health checks we must make before you enter the clinic. But for now it's time to celebrate and start calling everyone on the waitlist (over 500 ). There has been a lot of chatter about the easing of restrictions today after the Premier of Qld has announced the 3 step plan to the 'new normal'. We will once again be seeking clarification from Qld Health before we confirm a definite re-opening date. ... 11.01.2022 We miss you! You may have heard yesterday that certain massage companies may reopen. We'd like to say that's us but unfortunately we have not been included in this group. One of the requirements is the massage company must be aligned with health funds. As you all know we do not do this and all treatments are full out of pocket expense. We are eager to recommence treatments and have been in talks with Qld Health this morning to seek an exemption as the work we provide is medi...cal and critical to our patients mobility and working capabilities. 09.01.2022 UPDATE: After further discussions with the Qld Govt, they are still holding the position that we can't reopen as we do not align with health funds. No one in the government will detail an expected date for lifting the ban and no exemptions in our field are allowed. Hang in there!! We know you're in pain and needing our treatments. More phonecalls today resulted in the same response. They agree we are medical in service but we have to wait for CHO Jeanette Young to personally make a decision on whether we can re-open. Of course more 'promises' of escalating our case to her office were given yet again ... We know you're in acute pain and desperate for treatment. We have not received any calls or emails to advise their position on our company reopening. Today they'll be more calls and discussions to acquire an answer. 03.01.2022 IMPORTANT NOTICE: 1. Salve will be closed for 2 weeks 2. Chiropractic clinic cancelled for Wednesday 25th March.... The Association of Massage Therapists has advised all Australian massage therapy businesses to shut down for a period of 2 weeks to help contain the spread of COVID-19. Over the next 2 weeks we had approximately 150 patients booked for rehabilitation massages and/or Gonstead treatments. These treatments would consist of close contact over a greater period than 15mins placing therapists at high risk of becoming vectors for transmission of COVID-19. Many of our patients are elderly and others with immunosuppressive conditions. Our priority with all treatments is to 'first do no harm'. Considering this, the current shortage of masks available for protective measures and cancelled flights from Brisbane to Townsville for Dr Leach, our business will be closed until 9am Thursday 2nd April. Many of you have already received a personal call to advise of the closure and we are actively continuing to phone patients who have booked treatments within this closure time frame. 02.01.2022 Update: it breaks my heart to tell you... We're still not allowed to open Qld Health are still holding firm that we cannot re-open as we do not align with health funds. This is beyond a joke. Piercings for aesthetic purposes, tattoos and facials are all permitted yet we've been denied again.... There is no health or scientific evidence to support their decision. Please feel free to call and lodge a complaint with Qld Health on 137468. Dr Leach and other medical practitioners have been phoning and requesting a change in their ruling. At this stage Qld Health are suggesting we can open when stage 3 restrictions are lifted...July 11. Hang in there. We can't wait to finally re-open and help you out of pain.
