25.01.2022 155 years of giving hope where its needed most! Happy Founders Day! Today is a chance to celebrate the legacy of General William and Catherine Booth, who founded The Salvation Army in London, England, back in 1865. What does Catherines quote mean to you?

25.01.2022 While our country has faced many challenges in recent months, we want to assure you that we are continuing to assist those who have been impacted by the devasta...ting Black Summer bushfires. All money raised from the Salvos Bushfire Disaster Appeal must and is going to people and communities impacted by the bushfires. This is not only a legislative requirement, but our commitment to these people and communities. We know from experience and research, that helping people get back on their feet can take years and we will be there for the long haul. When you support the Salvos during a disaster, you are not only supporting people and communities in the immediate aftermath of the disaster, but also with ongoing financial and emotional relief as people fully rebuild their lives. Thank you once again for your generosity. To see more answers to some frequently asked questions, go to: http://ow.ly/WvEU50zS3kL

24.01.2022 Relax and take a breather. As we continue to navigate through uncertain times, its important to collect our thoughts and responses to events happening around u...s. Not only does self-reflection allow us to have a better understanding of ourselves, but it also helps us grow as people. Pause and take a moment to reflect on the last few months. What has been the biggest change in your day to day life? Share with us in the comments below.

24.01.2022 #NAIDOC2020 - Sharing essential stories through art Beginning Sunday, National NAIDOC Week 2020 is an opportunity for all Australians to celebrate the rich... history, diverse cultures and achievements of Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples as the oldest continuing living cultures on the planet. Encouraging creativity and the sharing of stories around country, community and culture is the focus of a dedicated creative art space at The Salvation Army Doorways Hub in Katherine, 270km south of Darwin. Artist Aunty Janet Dreamer said she has been painting since she was in her teens, but it is only through the access to supplies the hub offers that she has been able to start again. "I love to paint birds and kangaroos, anything from the bush, and especially if it's good tucker," she said. To read more about the art hub, go to: https://fal.cn/3boD4 #NAIDOCWeek #NAIDOCWeek2020

22.01.2022 Avo look at this! To show your support for our Red Shield Appeal, we want you to decorate your door red! For every door that is decorated, Mirvac Residenti...al will donate on the decorators behalf to this years appeal. There are also a number of prizes to be won, including designer furniture and home appliances. To get involved, upload a photo of your decorated door and use the hashtag #DecorateYourDoorRed. Tag @Mirvac_residential and @salvosau on Instagram or post the photo on Mirvac Residentials Facebook page. Mirvac Ambassador and Demographer Bernard Salt (right), pictured here with Salvo Major Bruce Harmer, says his motivation to get behind the campaign and support the Salvos comes from witnessing our work as a child. When I was growing up in public housing I saw how the Salvos made a difference to the lives of kids in the neighbourhood. They were compassionate, generous, non-judgemental and importantly, they made a difference. Their good work left a lasting impression on me, says Bernard. The time hass come (excuse the pun), for you to get decorating! For more details plus Terms and Conditions, go to: http://ow.ly/doBG50A2xoV #TheSalvationArmy #RedShieldAppeal #LeaveNoOneInNeed

03.01.2022 We are very sad to hear that Jim Bond has left this world - No more pain now Jim. Prior to Jim's illness, he was a great support in many practical ways for us and was a joy to have around the community garden and within our building. We have many things in the garden to remember Jim by. He showed true inclusiveness of all who crossed his path. Our thoughts and prayers reach out to Jim's family at this time.
