13.05.2022 COVID-19 Business Impact Support Program The COVID-19 Business Impact Support Program has been established to support Tasmanian businesses whose business operations have been impacted due to: critical staff being required to isolate or quarantine due to ... COVID-19, or being forced to close due to a Public Health Direction, or having suffered a significant reduction in demand, that has resulted in a reduction in turnover due to COVID-19 of 30% or more between 15 December 2021 and 14 January 2022 inclusive, compared to the same period in the previous year (15 December 2020 - 14 January 2021). Businesses must also demonstrate they have a COVID-19 Safety Plan, a completed COVID-19 Risk Assessment and where necessary, a COVID-19 Case and Outbreak Management Plan in place to be eligible. Grant funding will be determined based on the business’s annual turnover, defined as total sales (exclusive of GST), of goods and services to customers by the applicant for the period in the 2020-21 financial year. Grants will be tiered and available to eligible businesses based on: Business Annual Turnover 2020-21 (exclusive of GST) Grant funding available Impacted businesses with an annual turnover of $25 000 to $49 000 $1 000 Impacted businesses with an annual turnover of between $50 000 and $999 999 $2 000 Impacted businesses with an annual turnover of between $1 million and $2 999 999 $3 000 Impacted businesses with an annual turnover of between $3 million and $10 million $5 000 And, where a business purchased and lost perishable goods*. Claim for the cost of the perishable goods up to a value of $5 000 * Perishable goods are defined as - Food, that typically spoils within a relatively short amount of time, such as fruits, vegetables, meats, and dairy products and other perishable goods like flowers. 16.04.2022 Business Hardship - Border Closure Critical Support Grant On Friday 13 August the Tasmanian and Australian Governments announced a jointly funded $20 million Business Support Package. This grant program will be targeted at businesses operating in the tourism, hospitality, arts and events, seafood and transport (hire car, coach tours) sectors, and other business that are impacted by the lockdowns and border restrictions that are in place in other states.... Grants of between $2 000 and $10 000 will be provided to successful applicants. The amount of funding will be calculated by the Department of State Growth during the assessment process, using the information and evidence submitted by applicants, according to impact and size of the business by annual turnover. The support program will be available to businesses that have suffered a significant reduction in turnover as a direct result of lockdowns and border closures in other states, as a result of: A reduction in the number of visitors being able to travel to the Tasmania; and/or a reduction in the ability to provide, sell or import/export goods and services. The grant program will open on Tuesday 17 August, and will close on Thursday 16 September 2021, 2:00 pm. New measures outlined by The Australian Taxation Office (ATO) will implement a series of administrative measures to assist Australians experiencing financial difficulty as a result of the COVID-19 outbreak. > Deferring by up to four months the payment date of amounts due through the business activity statement (including PAYG instalments), income tax assessments, fringe benefits tax assessments and excise... > Allow businesses on a quarterly reporting cycle to opt into monthly GST reporting in order to get quicker access to GST refunds they may be entitled to > Allowing businesses to vary Pay As You Go (PAYG) instalment amounts to zero for the March 2020 quarter. Businesses that vary their PAYG instalment to zero can also claim a refund for any instalments made for the September 2019 and December 2019 quarters > Remitting any interest and penalties, incurred on or after 23 January 2020, that have been applied to tax liabilities > Working with affected businesses to help them pay their existing and ongoing tax liabilities by allowing them to enter into low interest payment plans.
