25.01.2022 In light of these times i am offering new short consults focused only on optimising immune strength and recovery. These will be 20 minute personalised appointments for your immune system. Prevention is always better than cure and i would love for your vitality to be nice and strong to support you and those around you right now. I find herbal medicine and nutrition to be excellent tools to have up your sleeve at the first sign of infection to try to prevent the severity and reduce the duration of illness. 23.01.2022 Weight gain can be caused by the body's reaction to stress hormones. But not everyone identifies with feeling "stressed". Some instead feel a sense of overwhelm, pressure, constantly busy or running late, or feeling physically or emotionally tense. Once our stress hormones are chronically raised they cause our insulin to increase, which affects our blood sugar control, our appetite, our food choices and make us prone to storing more fatty tissue and less likely to break fatty... tissue down again. 22.01.2022 PCOS is a complex hormonal imbalance characterised by an excess of androgens. In a normal cycle our ovarian follicles (cysts) contain immature egg cells which are stimulated by hormones to release a matured egg as we ovulate. But in PCOS irregular hormone levels prevent our follicles from growing and maturing to release egg cells when they should. Instead, these immature follicles accumulate in the ovaries and we have the condition of poly(many) cysts. But an ultrasound alon...e cannot diagnose this condition. In order to have a proper PCOS diagnosis we must meet at least 2 of the 3 categories below: - elevated androgens - many immature follicles (cysts) in one or both ovaries - symptoms of excess androgens such as male type hair growth or acne If you would like to chat about your hormones please dm me, I'd love to hear from you.

These can help uplift your mood, promote a sense of calmness and improve sleep patterns.

20.01.2022 I am excited to be welcoming back my lovely clients for face-to-face consults again. We will all be taking extra precautions to keep everyone safe and healthy. I will be continuing to offer telehealth consults for those who may be struggling with a winter bug such as sore throats, colds, coughs, etc. I please ask that if you feel you may be coming down with something, to err on the side of caution and we will make the easy swap to a distance consult instead. I am also happy to continue phone or video consults for anyone else who prefers this option going forward. I am happy to be seeing your faces in person again

16.01.2022 Without ovulation we cannot produce healthy levels of progesterone in our fertile years. This is because progesterone is made by the corpus luteum... (umm the corp-what I hear you ask??)... The corpus luteum is a cluster of cells that ONLY occurs once an egg has been released from one of your ovaries, marking ovulation. This cluster of cells is only active for about 2 weeks once produced. So progesterone rises and falls across a 2 week span from ovulation to your next per...iod. 16.01.2022 Grounding Stew Recipe Perfect for times when we feel like all out thoughts are buzzing around in our head, when stress and worry are high, when women are in their Luteal Phase (the days between ovulation & menstruation), or when we feel like we need a big warm hug because we are heading for burn out. INGREDIENTS: 1 tbsp avocado oil 1kg diced beef (2cm cubes)... 4 cloves garlic, chrushed 1 orange 1 tbsp dried parsley 1 tbsp dried coriander 1 tbsp dried thyme 2 tbsp Moroccan spice blend 3 carrots (4cm pieces) 100g pitted dates, chopped 410g tin crushed tomato 140g tomato paste 400g tin chickpeas 1 handful fresh parsley, chopped 800ml water Natural yoghurt Mint leaves Toasted slivered almonds Sweet potato METHOD: Heat oil in pan over medium heat, add beef and brown all over for 2 minutes. Transfer beef into slow cooker and coat the beef in onion, garlic, orange zest & juice, dried herbs and spices. Add all other ingredients (except yoghurt, mint, almonds & sweet potato) into slow cooker and cook on high for at least 4 hours. Serve on a bed of mashed sweet potato. Top with yoghurt, fresh mint and almonds. ** If you need hints for which herbs to include in your moroccan spice blend let me know

06.01.2022 Oestrogen and progesterone coexist in a delicate balance throughout a womans cycle. If oestrogen becomes excessive compared to progesterone then it is termed oestrogen dominance. An excess of oestrogen can have a stimulating effect on the growth of uterine tissue and therefore contribute to and worsen fibroids. Some of the major ways to improve oestrogen balance are to ensure healthy hormone metabolism and excretion through the bowels and liver. This is why i always ask my lovely clients many questions about their gut health when they seek my help for a wide array of hormonal or reproductive issues.

05.01.2022 To all the busy, stressed and exhausted patients that come in to our lovely little wellness centre... this ones for you to do at home. At the end of each day, flick on the kettle to make a cup of calming herbal tea and throw your legs up the wall in this pose. It's a calming, de-stressing and restorative position to lie in for 5-15 minutes and breath deeply and evenly in and out. Allowing those stress hormones and the sympathetic nervous system to relax and unwind. Especially perfect for my VCE students at this time of year. A great study break idea as well. Tag loved ones that you think could do with an at home routine to help reduce feelings of stress and exhaustion.

05.01.2022 That sounds unappealing doesn't it But don't despair. There are still loads of nutrient rich, colourful, yummy meal choices at your finger tips. Just be conservative when it comes to flavour. The highs and lows of intense flavour bursts can send our bodies into craving mode, making us want more and more. So the research says to keep things as neutral and low in flavour as possible for improved appetite control and better weight loss results.

03.01.2022 My favourite sunny nutrient Did you know that there are enzymes that help the body convert Vitamin D into it's usable form? Did you also know that these enzymes need magnesium to work properly? Out bodies are fascinating trying to keep everything in a constant delicate balance for us! So it may be worth reviewing your magnesium status if you are struggling with your Vitamin D levels. A Magnesium deficiency can not only cause low Vitamin D but may also make it hard to correct this deficiency if not rectified.

02.01.2022 Whipped Avocado Spread Full of yummy mono-unsaturated fats and vitamin E. A versatile little addition if you want to improve dry skin, concentration/learning, inflammation, blood sugar control, cardiovascular health, hormones or conception. INGREDIENTS: 1 Avocado ... 2 tbsp Olive Oil 2-3 tbsp Lemon juice 1 tbsp water Pinch Salt METHOD- Blend together until smooth. So versatile. I use this as the base for all different types of things... from a mayonnaise alternative, to guacamole dips, salad dressings (by increasing the liquid ratio), sourdough spread and as a side in macro-bowls.

01.01.2022 Three of my favourite feminine beauties when I'm blending herbal medicine right now. Lavender is oh-so calming and relaxing. A lovely serene remedy for sleep, stress, anxiety, headaches, as well as uplifting the mood and settling a crampy tummy. Calendula is my bright and sunny healer. I love this herb for so many skin conditions, certain infections and painful periods. Rose is such a heartfelt, feminine aromatic. So beautiful in remedies for the skin and hormones with it's anti-aging and balancing properties for womens health. It's such a pleasure blending high quality healing botanicals for my gorgeous clients. Hang in there guys, we will be back to normality soon enough.
