24.01.2022 DIGESTION The digestive function, also known as Xiao Hua in Chinese medicine is vital as that is how your qi and blood is produced which supports the rest of the body by nourishing, energizing and restoring homeostasis. In Chinese medicine the spleen and stomach play an important role with aiding in the transformation and transportation of the foods and drink you ingest.... Transformation involves the process of separating the nutrients from the waste. Transportation involves ensuring that nutrients are transported to other areas of the body for nourishment and waste travels down and is excreted through the bowels or urination. The dysfunction of transportation and transformation can lead to the following: Low energy Indigestion Bowel Issues Nausea Vomiting Bloating Gas Lack of Appetite Brain Fog Weight & Metabolism Issues Menstrual Issues Decreased Immunity Eating wholefoods, cooked foods, reducing your intake of processed foods and having healthy eating habits can help with improving your digestion. Acupuncture and herbs are also great ways to speed up that process!

22.01.2022 Today we welcome the Year of the Ox! The Ox is the second animal in the Chinese zodiac. In Chinese culture the Ox is valued for its honest, positive and hardworking characteristics, as well as its role in agriculture. Coming out of the chaotic Year of the Rat which brought about tendencies to hoard and a lot of anxious energy, the Year of the Ox is all about persisting and working hard as both individually and together as a community to get through intense difficulties ... Wishing everyone a prosperous, healthy and happy lunar new year!

18.01.2022 WOMEN are naturally the strong fierce nurturers of our society, full of selfless unconditional love. WOMEN are cyclic beings, physically and emotionally living through the ebb and flow of the different phases of our hormones, moods, and chapters of life. Since this week is #womenshealthweek and today is #ruokday, I want to encourage all the women (and everyone else) to introspectively ask yourselves how you have been recently. Are you okay?... Many women are over compensating to survive during this time and aren’t prioritising their health and are having little to no time to themselves. In the clinic, I’ve seen heightened stress levels, emotional roller coasters, insomnia, digestive issues, irregular periods and fatigue. I invite you to give yourself a moment to breathe, or take a moment to be silly and laugh, even if it’s just 10 seconds. I want you to remember that it is okay to ask for help, or reach out to have a chat. It is also okay not to be okay My inbox is always open to have a chat and I have herbal medicines available to support your health during this time

17.01.2022 Polycystic Ovarian Syndrome aka. PCOS is a metabolic syndrome characterised by: High Testosterone Levels Irregular Cycles or Absence of Period Polycystic Ovaries... Only 2 out of 3 of these symptoms need to be present for diagnosis. PCOS in Chinese Medicine is usually due to: 1. Dampness Accumulation due to Spleen and Kidney Yang or Qi Deficiency Yang is the warmth and qi is the functional energy source that gives the body ability to generate warmth and kinetic energy to perform active processes. When yang or qi is deficient, it slows down the metabolic processes in the body. This can cause dampness to generate overtime. Damp is sluggish, cloying, heavy and obstructive. Damp affects the ovaries, increasing the density of partially mature follicles. Damp retention can also lead to weight gain, sluggish metabolism. Over time it can obstruct the flow of your Liver Qi, causing cycle irregularities. 2. Deficiency of Blood, Qi and Kidney Yin Yin represents the nourishing body fluids of the body. Kidney yin deficiency can be caused by the dysfunction of fluid metabolism where clear healthy fluids cannot properly separate from turbid fluids. The presence of turbidity creates damp. Deficiency of yin fluids can lead to blood deficiency. Symptoms experienced with this type of PCOS includes fatigue, insomnia, lack of weight gain, anxiety. Treatment of PCOS with Chinese medicine: Treating conditions related to menstrual cycles requires at least 3-6 months of regular treatment. This includes PCOS treatments. While you may fit the mould for a diagnosis mentioned above, in Chinese medicine there may be more imbalances to explore and treat in conjunction to your PCOS Chinese medicine diagnosis to optimise your overall health Acupuncture and herbal treatments are individually curated for your own body’s presentations

15.01.2022 This month is #pregnancyandinfantlossawareness month. 1 in 4 pregnancies end in miscarriage. 1 in 6 Australian pregnancies end in pregnancy or infant loss. Today I acknowledge all the bereaved parents and family members. You are not alone. A loss is a loss of a family member that is irreplaceable. No one will replace the presence of your angel up above ... Pregnancy and infant loss is not something to stay silent about, disregard, or be disrespectful of. Be mindful of your words, open to understanding stories, and okay with talking about loss as it is part of the human experience. Swipe to understand how you can be more supportive to those who have gone through pregnancy or infant loss. Gorgeous picture by @memoriesofanangel

14.01.2022 REJUVENATE WITH NATURE Breathe fresh air, absorb Vitamin D, exercise outside for 2 hours, or have a picnic. A few things to look forwards to this week!

14.01.2022 Wind ( Feng ) in Chinese medicine is one of the six external pathogenic factors that can cause sickness. When wind invites sickness into the body, one could say that it acts like the carrier oil to an essential oil. It will carry other external pathogens such as cold, heat, damp, dryness into the body. Wind tends to attack the upper body first, especially any exposed areas. This makes your neck and head more vulnerable to being affected by external Wind. Feng Chi which... translates into Wind Pool, is located at the nape of the neck which is a pivotal position between the head and the rest of of the body. As the translation implies, this point is a location where external Wind can invade the body to cause symptoms such as headaches, neck stiffness/ soreness, sore throat, sinus issues and sore or itchy eyes. #Acupressure on Feng Chi is something you can do while we wait for the clinic to fully reopen again! It is great way to help alleviate headaches, neck tension and relieve some one the other symptoms you have cause by external Wind. This is something you can easily do on yourself or for your partner How to find Feng Chi: 1. Bend your head forwards 2. Run your fingers beside the muscle on the back of the neck to the base of the head. 3. Feel for the depression/dip right next to where the muscle connects with the base of the skull. It should be tender when you press the area more firmly. Happy massaging!
