25.01.2022 Got kids who love to sing? Gold Coast Choir is a performance choir with Anthony Phipps at its helm. I can't speak highly enough about the musical education and experience its members receive. New members are always welcome, especially at the beginning of term. Find out more about the choir's diverse repertoire as well as its Director's approach to play-based learning for the younger members.
22.01.2022 "Mum, I'm bored." Not any more, kiddo.
22.01.2022 I've partnered with Rainforest 4 and Kelvin Davies 4 the Rainforest to write about the lucrative international wildlife trade. Thankfully, Kelvin and his team are campaigning to stop that trade in two ways. By changing global policy (please sigh the petition) and by direct action employing rainforest rangers around the world (you can donate to employ rainforest rangers in Sumatra right now).
21.01.2022 Dropping a tonne of social media info on unsuspecting GC filmmakers next month. Places are limited. Hit up the awesome crew at Gold Coast Film Festival to apply
21.01.2022 "Taking off from the ABC Heli's hangar at the Gold Coast airport, the 45 minute tour has you climbing to 4000 feet, cruising along the northern edge of Mt Warning Wollumbin, over the Tweed and Currumbin Valleys with spectacular views over farmlands, rainforest, the Gold Coast hinterland and the entire green caldera that frames the region geographically."
21.01.2022 Green jobs will help get the planet, and the economy back on track. It's a no brainer really. Read my story here: https://www.rainforest4.org/green_jobs_will_help_us_rebuild
17.01.2022 Stone & Wood Brewing have created a beer using purified wastewater in the hopes of promoting recycling water and water efficiency, which is tied to the theme of this year’s International World Water Day.
17.01.2022 It was a real treat to be a guest on The Music Real podcast. In this short 15-minute conversation we explore how the Gold Coast Music Awards pivoted in the face of COVID-19 restrictions, some of the challenges faced by the city's cultural enterprises and how a look at our city's live music history through my new book 'Sounds of Paradise' might help us navigate our way out of this disastrous pandemic. Listen here. Would love your feedback.
15.01.2022 Apparently I'm an awesome human. Brett McCallum and the crew at Podfire invited me to be a guest on their Awesome Human podcast and we spoke about my work in conservation and the arts and the elements that tie them together. There may have been some chats about solo parenting, politics and passion projects too Listen in now at: https://b#creativegold ##wearegoldcoast #creativegold
15.01.2022 I’ve been writing some content of a different kind, lately... for my own blog, which has been neglected for the better part of six years. So, here’s the first instalment of resources for artists and community groups with very limited resources trying to make good shit happen.
13.01.2022 In Buenos Aires, they use sculptures to hold up heavy tree limbs in public places.
13.01.2022 Combine your two great loves on the #goldcoast. Food and culture. Thanks for the gig, Destination Gold Coast.
13.01.2022 Until last year, Memphis musician Van Duren and his legacy would be the domain of fans of obscure music trivia and nothing more. But thanks to two Sydney music industry workers, that's all changed. ‘Waiting The Van Duren Story’ does much more than just tell Van Duren’s story. It’s a love letter from Wade S Jackson and fellow filmmaker Greg Carey to the artist that could have helped to define a generation were it not for the unfortunate decisions others made on his behalf.
12.01.2022 Ever wondered what it takes to write a winning grant application? Gold Coast Arts and Culture has pulled together a FREE webinar exploring just this issue. Chloe Popa will run you through allll of the funding opportunities currently available for music-related projects (spoiler alert, there's shitloads). And then I'll run you through the fundamentals of how to win funds and influence panels. Register now. I promise this will be worth your while.
09.01.2022 It was a pleasure to facilitate a panel discussion on mental health and the music industry earlier this week. It’s a poignant topic, which was done huge justice by our esteemed panellists: mental health expert Paige Gaudry and GC industry stalwarts Asho and PACES. Many thanks to the awesome tech crew at Mo's Desert Clubhouse and our fabulous photographer Simone Gorman-Clarke for this photo. 09.01.2022 Awesome opportunity to score tickets to Byron Writers Festival as well as an accommodation package. Get on board.

07.01.2022 Me. Writing about arty things...
05.01.2022 Kids. School. Work. Zoom. Life is complicated right now. But there is a light at the end of the tunnel... OK, it's not a light, it's a screen, but that screen is dishing up all kinds of creative gold for your little culture vultures. Like, hanging out (virtually) with Captain Underpants author Day Pilkey or discovering the great indoors with Scouts UK. Check out my virtual bucket list for kids.
01.01.2022 Pressed for time but want to experience the best of #goldcoast culture? I can help....
