25.01.2022 REGISTRATION RESUMPTION It's time to get busy again with registrations. We'll post some guidelines over the next few days to help, but please head over to https://www.playfootball.com.au/register and get things rolling.
24.01.2022 We are please to announce that club delegates have voted to allow training from Friday 15th May in accordance with SA Health, SAPOL and Football SAs strict requirements. We shall publish more in relation to the requirements tomorrow, however clubs delegates are aware and will be able to advise where, when and under what conditions they will be holding training sessions. Please take this for what it is, a limited and controlled relaxing of restrictions. It is the first step... in a process and its success will dictate whether the next step is forward or backwards. Individuals acting outside the framework risk prosecution and fines of up to $1000, while clubs would face fines of up to $5000. Finally we feel it is important to state there is absolutely no information available at the moment in relation to what and when the next phase is, and certainly not a resumption to regular games.
24.01.2022 Tony Winefield's Funeral Tony's funeral will be held tomorrow at Centennial Park at 3:15pm. In addition given the state affairs at the moment, there will be a webcast for those unable to attend in person.... Details for the webcast are as follows. Below link for the live web broadcast for the Tony Winefield Funeral Service. When you click the link, it takes you to a title page that will show the name, time day etc of the funeral. This will have a start time also, displayed in the time zone of the country that you are watching the link from. When it gets within an hour or so of start time, this automatically changes to a countdown timer. When we go live the page will automatically change to the live broadcast, there is no need to log in or do anything other than click on the hyperlink below. https://livestream.com/accounts/8710393/events/9043159

24.01.2022 SHARED PLAYERS Currently there are no packages available for shared players to use when registering. These will be opened up after round 1 for teams that need them. In the meantime, if you are a genuine shared player please register with your CSL or SAASL team first and advise your SAMSL team delegate that you are a shared player.... You will be allowed to play on Sunday as a guest.

23.01.2022 The SA Masters Soccer League is pleased to announce we have been granted permission to move to stage 2 of the return to training, allowing for full contact in groups of up to 20, and that any single group can train in half a pitch (no mingling between groups though). Restrictions still apply, but are relaxed from stage 1. Also the season may start from 28 JUNE.
22.01.2022 We've been asked to remind players and teams that tomorrow is the cut off for the summer sevens competition at West Beach Football Park. Entry Form at https://drive.google.com//1IOg65b5Gbb1edqyLKsnmfU6ff/view
22.01.2022 Apologies, but there are a few last minute changes to this Sunday's games. 1) Austria have forfeited their game against Royal Ajvar 2) Games at Barrett Reserve are now kicking-off at 11:30 to allow for traffic etc. We have attempted to advise referees via FSA, but it might be worth having someone turn up by 11:00ish in case the refs do not get the message in time.... Thanks for your patience. We appreciate this round is going to be awkward for some, but hopefully most of us get to play football this Sunday.
22.01.2022 FIXTURE CHANGES - ROUND 14 All players and officials please note. Due to the Bay to Birdwood actually going ahead as planned on 27th September there will be some fixture changes for round 14.... Basically there will only be 3 games at Barratt Reseve and they will be late kick-offs on pitches 5,6 & 7. All other games will be held at SAWSA Park. Revised fixtures will be: SAWSA-1 9:30 Royal Ajvar v Austria 11:15 Uni Old Boys v Croatia SAWSA-2 9:30 WB Legends v Adelaide Spurs 11:15 West Beach v Cove Fusion SAWSA-3 9:30 Pulteney v Old Plymptonians 11:15 Sporting v Phoenix BR-5 11:15 Sturt Marion v Southern Cross BR-6 11:15 St Peters v Man City BR-7 11:15 Southern Sharks v Monarchs
22.01.2022 Attached are the items each team has to sign off on before they will be allowed to play on Sunday. We are posting them here for everybody to see as adhering to them is everybody's responsibility. NOTE: Teams that do not complete the checklist prior to kick-off may be forced to forfeit their games.
21.01.2022 What a fantastic effort, weve reached 280 registrations already. If you havent registered please do so as soon as possible then we can all just focus on playing football.
20.01.2022 We just received this from Football SA.
19.01.2022 COVID MARSHALS We have been advised by Football SA of a new mandatory requirement that COVID marshals are in attendance at all football matches that comes in to force on Friday 21st August 2020. This is a requirement passed on from government via the Office of Recreation, Sport and Racing and as such we have no choice but to implement it. As such, every club is going to be asking for volunteers to become COVID marshals, and we would encourage as many players to take the 30 mi...nute course at https://marshal.clickontraining.com.au/ as possible. Thank you for your understanding and cooperation in this.
17.01.2022 Pitches marked, goals in place, but whos that in goal?
17.01.2022 We are very sad to announce the passing of Tony Winefield last Friday. Tony was one of the founding fathers of the Masters League and of the University team. Until recently he was still involved occasionally as a linesman. Tony also wrote the history component of the old SAMSL website, some of which we hope to add to our new website soon.... Tony's funeral is likely to be in the Heysen chapel at Centennial park, and we will provide an update when we know more.
16.01.2022 For those who can't get enough football, Football SA have just announced details of their Summer 7's competition. Here's the flyer.
15.01.2022 The SA Masters Soccer League request that all teams observe a minute of clapping prior to kicking off on Sunday in honour of Tony Winefield one of the founding fathers of the Masters League who passed away earlier this year. Thank you.
14.01.2022 We received the following guidance from FSA this afternoon in relation to COVID-19.
14.01.2022 We are up to 7 registrations completed, and 26 awaiting payment approval by their clubs. Hopefully the issues we were experiencing are over.
13.01.2022 COVID MARSHALS I wanted to clarify a few things around the new mandatory requirements for COVID-19 marshals that came in to effect from today, and how they affect us. 1) The only way the league can continue the 2020 season is to have COVID-19 marshals at our games.... 2) There must be a COVID-19 marshal present at every game. Teams should agree who that marshal is going to be in advance and advise the league by 6pm on the preceding Friday before their game. Failure to comply with this will result in the game being forfeited. 3) Training to be a marshal is a simple free on-line course that takes less than 30 minutes to complete, and the league encourages as many players, officials and volunteers to complete the training as this will share the burden more broadly. 4) Individuals concerned over liability should they be a marshal and someone contract COVID-19 should be reminded that the league has public liability insurance and provided you are carrying out your duties as per your training, you will be covered. 5) An individual involved in a game as an on-field player or official (e.g. linesman) cannot be a marshal at the same time. 6) Everyone is expected to act as directed by marshals. Failure to do this may result in action by the league, and in severe cases may involve SAPOL. Thank you for taking the time to read this and thank you to all those who have undergone training as your actions are the reason we are able to continue to play football at all. Regards, Andy Warhurst SAMSL Chair
13.01.2022 Please be reminded that by registering to play in the SA Masters Soccer League you are implicitly signing up to Football SA's Code of Conduct for Senior Players.
12.01.2022 COVID 19 - Update - NO FOOTBALL UNTIL 14 APRIL We received the following update from FSA. Dear Club President Chairman/Delegate and Association... Please find attached an updated memo from Football South Australia in regards to the Covid-19 disease. FFA have made an announcement (attachment 2) relating the suspension of grassroots football activity until April 14 effective from midnight tonight. Football South Australia agree to follow the national direction and adhere to the suspension period.
12.01.2022 We are pleased to announce Southern Sharks as the 2020 winners of the SAMSL Fair Play trophy. Congratulations to all players involved on a mostly card free season. We will present the trophy to Ray at the next delegates meeting.
11.01.2022 All players please note: If you are planning on attending training please familiarise yourself with the Return To Training Requirements details (linked), and the additional requirements below prior to attending. * SAMSL to be notified in advance of any training sessions (club, time, location) the club/teams are holding.... * SAMSL to be provided with a register of attendees at training sessions via [email protected] within an hour of completion. * You familiarise yourself with the details at https://www.footballsa.com.au/return-to-training-hub Please be reminded that SAPOL are obligated to follow up on reports of illegal gatherings. Should you be challenged and found not to be adhering to the requirements, you will be breaking Commonwealth law and may be prosecuted. We are already aware of a non-SAMSL team who were legally training that have already been challenged. Regardless of whether you get caught or not the league will take a very dim view of clubs that breach the requirements. Football SA is privileged to be one of the first sports to be allowed any form of activity in Australia and as such we are on show for the rest of sport in the country. Whether we move to a more relaxed phase of requirements depends on how this phase goes. The next step could be forward or backward and depends on the success of this phase. Finally, if you are lucky enough to be out training, make the most of it, it might not be football as we know it, but it's got to be better than being stuck indoors.
11.01.2022 Only the following teams have completed the necessary paperwork to be allowed to train. If your club is not on the list, please don't risk a fine of $1000 and $5000 for your club by training. Adelaide Spurs, Cove Fusion, Old Plymptonians,... Pulteney, Sporting, Sturt Marion, Uni Old Boys See more
10.01.2022 COVID - 19 Pandemic Update Unfortunately ALL football activities in SA are suspended until 30th March at the earliest. We have some flexibility in terms of the fixtures, and will look to reschedule what was to be round 1 (29th March) to a date later in the season.... Please note also that the ban includes friendlies and training sessions. While SAMSL will not be policing this, we expect given the severity of the situation that all teams will comply.
10.01.2022 FORFEIT SEASON We’ve now reached that time of year when the weather is unreliable, everyone seems to have picked up niggling injuries, and partners are wanting their husbands back. At the same time clubs and team managers alike are contemplating giving it all up for the quiet life. What only a few months ago seemed a bunch of enthusiastic players who would do anything for a game has become a lengthening list of former friends that you have to harass just to get enough players... to start a game. I call it forfeit season. As a league we see it as important to be pragmatic in helping teams and have already intervened to assist teams where we can. Our objective is to avoid forfeits wherever possible. To help us in this goal, we ask all players to do one simple thing. Please let your team know in plenty of time if you are available or not for the next game. Yes, that's all. To emphasise the importance of this, I just want to say that over the last three or four seasons, whenever a team has forfeited we ask why, and in at least half of those instances the coach/manager has said they could have actually played the game, but people just didn’t let them know they were available in time. Please help your team look after you, by looking after your team. Andy Warhurst, SAMSL Chair
10.01.2022 Apparently it will take 24-48 hours for my DNS changes to propagate, so any emails sent to @samsl.org.au will fail until it does, and the website is down too. Who'd have thought rehosting a website could be so painful?
10.01.2022 You may have read that sports restrictions are being lifted in a phased way, and I have now been informed that FSA intend to relax their restrictions to level B from 11th May 2020. What this means is that training will be able to resume along the following lines. 1) Running/aerobic/agility training (solo), resistance training (solo), skills training (solo).... 2) Non-contact skill training drills passing, shooting, headers.Small groups (not more than 10 athletes/staff in total). Please note the 10 person limit includes coaches etc and that this only takes effect from 11th May (so no football activities until then). Also the planned date for a full resumption of football activities is still after 31st May 2020. I look forward to seeing you all out on the pitch again soon. Andy SAMSL Chair
09.01.2022 SHARED REGISTRATIONS ARE GO Please note shared registrations have been activated for all clubs. These are ONLY to be used by players who have ALREADY registered in either CSL or SAASL competitions. ... If you choose this type of registration and are not already registered then you may attract a fine of $10, on top of the full registration fees of $50.50.
09.01.2022 We are pleased to announce we recently passed 400 members of our Facebook Group https://www.facebook.com/groups/1840442246219006/ Thank you everybody for your support, and please keep coming back.
07.01.2022 We received this communication from Michael Carter, Football SA CEO in relation to COVID-19. Please take note.

04.01.2022 To gauge interest in an over 50s competition we have created this group. Please feel free to contribute. https://www.facebook.com/groups/870754220341366
04.01.2022 Fixtures are now on our website at https://samsl.org.au/page/samsl-division1-2020/ & https://samsl.org.au/page/samsl-division2-2020/ . The site is undergoing a bit of a catch up so expect a lot to change over the next week or two, but as we said the fixtures/tables/results are there.

02.01.2022 Congratulations to Sturt Marion our new Division 1 Champions, and commiserations to Uni Old Boys and St.Peters on their relegation to Division 2. Everything still to play for in Division 2 with Old Plymptonians only denied promotion today by the narrowest of mathematical possibilities, but we all know what happened on the last day last season. At the other end of Division 2 there are still three teams in with a shout of winning the wooden spoon.
01.01.2022 Many of our players over time have expressed the opinion that Football SA do not give masters football the recognition it deserves. Please see below. Here is a chance to draw their attention to the hard work all our volunteers, clubs etc do, by nominating them for awards. Please submit some nominations.
01.01.2022 Are you ready for this?
01.01.2022 We just wanted to let you know in case you hadn't already heard that football is now suspended until 31st May. Stay Safe.
