25.01.2022 //SQUATPOCALYPSE// Some people get bored with exercise. And I get that. It seems like it's pretty basic stuff over and over. But even the simplest movement (a squat for example) can have almost infinite variety!... Here I tweaked some foot positions and arm drivers to do 27 (I think) different squats within the IG one minute time limit. And I didn't even scratch the surface. Imagine if I included different loading tools, tempo/speeds, and surfaces (steps, blocks etc) Just using these initial 27 (which is a fraction of those I could come up with) 3 basic implements (kettlebell, dumbbell, barbell), and one step, I could create 432 different squats! Each of which would work slightly different muscles in slightly different ways. Add three different tempos (explosive, paused, and slow/squeezing) and we're over 1200 squats. Which in turn means that if I wanted to use two moves (say squats and press-ups), I could generate a minimum of 1,679,616 workouts. That's over 1.5 MILLION workouts using two basic movements. Even when things are simple, you are limited only by your imagination. If you want to find more ways to vary up your routine (without even varying it!) then come along for the ride! Ingredients (makes 12): 8 eggs Frozen greens (large handful) One chopped Herbs/spices optional Cheese optional Mix all ingredients in a bowl (except cheese). 05.01.2022 http://All Hail the Bent Press// The Bent Press looks a bit funny, but it's been my favourite way to press a weight overhead for a long time. It lets me use my lats a lot more than other presses, take advantage of my flexibility, and also really works my obliques and lower back in unusual ways.... I've been working on a few techniques lately that have helped me find a better groove for my bent press and it's feeling awesome. I'm not sure I believe ALL of the outlandish records the old-time strongmen would claim for this lift, but I know there have been some big weights hoisted like this. My goal? I think hitting bodyweight on it would be pretty phenomenal. But for now I'm just shooting for a new PR in the next two weeks.
