09.01.2022 'Creating visions that blind' - unknown In my initial team workshops I do when working with a client for the first time, I ask individuals of the team to write down one key outcome that they would like to achieve from the workshop and share that back with their colleagues. One of the most common outcomes requested is, 'I would like to know the leaders vision about the journey s/he is taking us on'. ... Unfortunately, for a variety of reasons, many leaders don't share their powerful vibrant vision with their leadership team or functional managers and when this occurs it is a missed opportunity to bring your people along with you on the journey. When a leader shares his vision with his people this becomes a powerful communication message that engages, excites and empowers their people to buy-in to the new direction and they can then communicate it to their team members. When this occurs it has a cascading effect across the organisation. This is how a shared vision is implemented across the organisation which allows people to buy-in to the new direction, take ownership and then influence their team members about how they can contribute to it. A shared vision creates clarity, and clarity often builds commitment, and commitment often leads to bottom line results. 'Without a vision the people perish' - unknown.
