24.01.2022 Last Tuesday Samford RDA ran the sweeps at Pause restaurant's Melbourne Cup lunch. We are thrilled to report that we raised over $1,000 on the day! This was our only fundraiser this year due to Covid-19 and we can't thank the generous attendees and the team at Pause enough!! Congratulations to all the sweeps winners.

24.01.2022 Last night we held a Christmas party for our fabulous volunteers at the Samford District Bowls Club. It's was a great way to celebrate the end of an 'interesting' year, with a bit of friendly barefoot bowls competition, and recognition of long serving volunteers. A big thank you to everyone who who has contributed to the success of our centre this year (and over previous years). We look forward to seeing everyone again in 2021! Feel free to share any pics of last night. We will post more over the coming days

23.01.2022 Thank you Airforce Pty Ltd! Samford RDA has acknowledged a decade of dedication by its very first corporate Horse Sponsor, Airforce Pty Ltd. Bill Basham, from Airforce Pty Ltd, and his family recently visited Samford RDA and their sponsor horse Inde. ... Bill received a special thank you presentation comprising framed photographs of the four horses his Brendale-based business has sponsored over the past 10 years. RDA horses Dooley, Sam, Red and now Inde have all benefited from Airforce’s continuous sponsorship which helps meet the cost of feed, vet and other expenses. Samford RDA President, Rebecca Clemmey, thanked Bill for his ongoing generosity and support. Airforce Airconditioning Brisbane

22.01.2022 Morning all, there's blue skies and sunshine at the moment, but we are watching the weather. We are currently planning to run today so the weather holds until after we're done for the day

19.01.2022 RDAQ are running a Christmas photo competition. If you'd like to be involved details are below.

17.01.2022 Further arena improvement planned Our key facility at Samford RDA, the Jenny O’Malley Arena, has been an evolving project over many years and there will be a further improvement in 2021 following State Government approval of a $4,776 grant. State Member for Pine Rivers, Nikki Boyd (with daughter Evie), visited recently to confirm the funding which will be used to purchase a new electric sprinkler pump. The pump will help maintain the stability of the arena surface and minim...ise dust. The arena surface was laid last year, and together with new lighting and horse yards, has allowed us to extend our program and hire the facility to external groups for a range of equestrian activities. Samford RDA sincerely thanks the State Government for the grant, approved under the Active Restart Infrastructure Recovery Fund. This funding continues the State Government’s commitment to helping community groups like ours to get back to normal post-COVID and improve their financial sustainability.

16.01.2022 Today's horsemanship class introduced some of our newer horses to a wheelchair. Oyster was very curious as to what this fancy contraption was!

08.01.2022 This week is Queensland mental health week. The theme this year is "take time - for mental health". It's about the simple, but proven things everyone can take to improve mental well being, breaking down the stigma associated with mental illness and reaching out to those who need support. So please, remember to 'take time' for your mental health #QMHW #qmhwtaketime Queensland Mental Health Week

08.01.2022 Betty snuck out of the showgrounds early yesterday morning and joined her friends in this year's last Dayboro trail ride. She ventured through Dayboro's cattle properties, braved hills, creeks and murky bogs. Coach Marina made sure there were plenty of tasty snacks along the way. Upon returning to the showgrounds, she enjoyed a refreshing bath and a big pile of lucerne. Betty has been trail riding with the Dayboro Trail Riders for a year now and can't wait to return for more adventures next year #RDAhorsescandomore#toughasnails

08.01.2022 Luke is busy keeping an eye on things over in the holidays paddock, while Paddington snacks on the calcium lick

07.01.2022 This year we weren't able to hold our usual Christmas party event so we ran a Working Trails Competition instead. It was a huge day and we are so proud of all our riders. Congratulations to all the recipients of ribbons and rosettes. Photos to come next week. ... And a huge thank you to all our volunteers who helped today's event run so well. (Not all pictured). Hope to see you all again next year!

05.01.2022 Amazing work today everyone. Thank you to all the volunteers for your time today and well done to all the riders. We'll post some photos of our day once we've gone through them but feel free to share yours in the meantime!

05.01.2022 A wonderful day was had by all at our Working Trail Competition. Here is a small selection of photos from the morning.

04.01.2022 It may be our term break but the work doesn't stop! The team from Dividing Line Fencing are back on site improving our paddock fencing. Who else is just a little excited to have an actual gate to use in the outback paddock?!

03.01.2022 Thank you Samford Valley Rotary Club! The smallest member of our herd, Luke, received a special visit recently from his generous sponsors. Samford Valley Rotary Club was represented by new President, Amanda Miller, and Community Services Director, Bob Millar. They called into our centre to meet Luke and see him working with some of our younger RDA participants.... Amanda grew up on a property; and up until recently, horses had always been part of her life. Bob also has a long association with horses. As well as his involvement with Rotary and other community groups, he has been Patron of Samford RDA since it was established over 10 years ago. Samford Valley Rotary Club is a Platinum Sponsor of Luke. Their annual sponsorship provides greatly appreciated funding to help meet the cost of Luke’s care, feed and vet bills. Luke is a great favourite with the ‘little kids’! Rotary Club of Samford Valley

03.01.2022 Thank you MBRC! Thank you Moreton Bay Regional Council for your wonderful financial support throughout 2020. As well as receiving much-needed funding during the COVID-19 pandemic, we are very grateful for the ongoing Horse Sponsorship provided by Cr Darren Grimwade and Cr Cath Tonks. The councillors jointly sponsor RDA horse Betty and they visited her at the centre this month before the herd left for their annual summer holiday.... While Cr Tonks is no stranger to Samford RDA, this was the first time she had met Betty.

02.01.2022 Today is R U Ok day. And it's been a tough year for many of us. We'd like to encourage everyone in our community to reach out to those around you to ask them if they are ok, and be prepared to listen.

01.01.2022 VALE: Gordon Plenty Here at Samford RDA, we are saddened to hear of the passing of Gordon Plenty of Clear Mountain. Gordon has been a RDA Horse Sponsor for many years, and a great financial supporter of our work to improve our centre.... Gordon’s daughter, the late Jenny O’Malley, was a former treasurer and long-time committee member. Our main facility, the Jenny O’Malley Arena, was named in her memory. Following Jenny’s passing, Gordon offered to sponsor an RDA horse and contribute to its feed and care. He sponsored several over the years, including his current horse, Promise. In addition, Gordon funded an annual rider award, a new kitchen, and signage for our covered arena. Gordon’s generosity has been greatly appreciated, and all of us at Samford RDA offer our condolences to his family. He will be sorely missed.
