24.01.2022 Scouting has been around since 1908 thanks to a few key elements that make Scouting relevant no matter the decade! These elements form part of the Scout Method.... Over the next few weeks we will look at each element of the Scout method, the first being Community Involvement. Through this element, we encourage active exploration of an individual’s commitment and responsibility to their community and the wider world! How do you like to get involved in your community? 21.01.2022 Today marks the beginning of National Child Protection Week, where we acknowledge the many ways big and small we can all make a difference in the lives of c...hildren and young people. This year’s theme, Putting Children First, highlights the importance of prioritising the safety and wellbeing of children and young people. At Scouts Queensland, we are committed to putting this into practice. Empowering our children and young people is at the heart of our organisation and underpins all the work we do and the decisions we take. We are committed to safeguarding the youth in our care, and creating an environment where all our members are safe, supported and protected. For more information about how we achieve this please see our website.

15.01.2022 Scouts Qld arranged another very successful "Scouting on the Green" at Parliament House in Brisbane today. Lovely speeches from co-host Jim Madden (in uniform)... and Opposition Leader Deb Frecklington (wearing her Supporter scarf). Solid support from co-host Tim Mander. Great job by our Branch Youth Council Chair Tobias Kennet as master of ceremonies. Jim Madden managed to get all the Youth Members into the parliamentary chambers - big thanks for that. Branch President Jane Prentice was awarded her five year certificate and received a resounding BRAVO. Great activities on the day, thanks Peter Blatch. Great event thanks Geoff Doo and Catherine Schofield!! See more

The full history of the flag is available one the National Flag Association web page: https://www.anfa-national.org.au/history-of-our-flag/ The ceremony this morning was hosted by The Right Honourable The Lord Mayor of Brisbane, Councillor Adrian Schrinner in what was the first public ceremony organised by Council since the start of the COVID-19 pandemic - all the right controls in place!!! The Royal Victorian Order was established by Queen Victoria in 1896 to acknowledge extraordinary, important or personal services performed for the Sovereign. His Excellency was appointed as Queensland’s 26th Governor on 29 July 2014 after a distinguished career as a barrister and Judge of the Supreme Court of Queensland, including more than 16 years as Chief Justice of Queensland. In 2000, as Chief Justice, His Excellency was appointed a Companion of the Order of Australia. Her Majesty, as Queensland’s Head of State, has received the Governor and Mrs de Jersey on three occasions at Buckingham Palace since 2014. In 1975, the Order of Australia was established as part of a uniquely Australian system of honours and awards to gradually replace the British system of Imperial Honours.
