Watch closely the little girl chewing her way through the capping while her sisters, only seconds old, take their first wobbly steps. The Queen lays up to 1800 eggs a day - 21 days later they emerge. Imagine having 1800 babies on the same day!

21.01.2022 The 19/20 season has been difficult for bees and their keepers all over Australia. Drought and fires devastated hive numbers and destroyed nectar-producing forestry across the nation. As many as 20,000 hives have been lost in NSW alone. Thankfully, we were unaffected by fires in the Samford Valley but honey production has been hugely impacted by the drought conditions last year. When it finally did rain, it was so intense that it washed out much of what little flowering did o...ccur late summer. Now, the unseasonably warm end of Autumn is holding up winter flowering of natives. Good news might be on the way - long range forecasting points towards a wetter than average mid to late winter which will hopefully bod well for a bumper spring!
