24.01.2022 Just to let you know that due to illness we are closing today at 5:30pm. We will be open usual hours tomorrow. Sorry for any inconvenience this may cause.

24.01.2022 At SVMC we are dedicated to ensuring safety of our patients and our staff. Please make yourself familiar with the information from QLD Health. Below is the recommendation for Appointments.... I have an appointment in the lockdown area or outside of the lockdown area can I attend? If you live in Greater Brisbane you are only allowed to leave your home to attend an appointment which would be considered essential or permitted, such as attending a medical appointment. If you live outside of Greater Brisbane you can attend your essential appointment, but must stay for the duration of the lockdown period. Please phone our reception if you are an AT RISK PATIENT to discuss if a phone consultation would be more appropriate.

14.01.2022 Samford Valley Medical Centre is proud to be a part of the Covid Vaccine Rollout in section 1B, commencing on the 29th March 2021. Our clinic has been allocated 100 doses per week in the first instance and we await further information from the government about when there will be a greater availability of the vaccine for GP clinics across Australia. We appreciate that many people will be wanting to vaccinate against Covid19, and we have the capacity to adapt to a greater numb...er of vaccinations when the supply is increased. We appreciate your patience. Currently, the Australian Government has prioritised two groups who are deemed to be at higher risk of Covid19 and they are categorized as Group 1A and Group 1B. To check your eligibility for the vaccine please go to the Australian Government Eligibility Checker which can be found here - https://covid-vaccine.healthdirect.gov.au/eligibility Our practice is required to confirm your eligibility for the vaccine before the first dose is given and some examples of proof of eligibility include, but are not limited to, the following: - Standard forms of identification (drivers’ licence, passport etc.), - Proof of occupation (letter from employer, work ID card), - Self-identification as an Aboriginal or Torres Strait Islander person, - Medical records/My Health Record print out of a Chronic Disease Plan or a referral from a GP or specialist, - Phase 1B Declaration Form Please note that if you are already a patient of Samford Valley Medical Centre, your doctor will have your medical records, so you are not required to provide information about your health conditions. If you have any concerns about having the Covid vaccine, please contact the clinic to make an appointment to discuss these with your doctor prior to your vaccination appointment. Our online Covid vaccine booking system is set to go live from the afternoon of Thursday 25th March 2021 and we ask that you book online where possible. If you are unable to access the internet, you can call the practice when bookings open on the afternoon of March 25th and we will assist you. We will provide more information as it becomes available, and we thank you again for your patience. The Team at Samford Valley Medical Centre

06.01.2022 Metro North Hospital and Health Service have issued a measles alert following a confirmed case of the highly infectious disease on Brisbanes northside. The pat...ient developed symptoms after returning from Vietnam and was unknowingly infectious while visiting the following locations: Priceline Pharmacy, Toombul Shopping Centre Thursday 11 April between 1.30pm -2.30pm Coles Kedron Saturday 13 April between 10am-11am KC Dry Cleaners, Kent Road, Wooloowin on the morning of Saturday 13 April. People who were in these locations on these dates should seek medical advice if they develop symptoms. The initial symptoms of measles include fever, lethargy, runny nose, moist cough and sore and red eyes. This is followed a few days later by a blotchy, red rash. The rash often starts on the face then becomes widespread over the body. Contact your GP or call 13 HEALTH (13 43 25 84) for more information. If you have any of the measles symptoms contact your GP and remember it is VERY important to call the medical practice first if you think you might have measles, so that staff can take precautions to avoid you spreading it to others. Anyone born after 1965 who was in these areas and who has not been fully vaccinated against measles (two doses of MMR) should contact their GP. (Note: image is not of diagnosed patient - this is merely the best image to show the symptoms).

02.01.2022 MEASLES ALERT: Please share Metro North Public Health Unit has issued a measles alert following a confirmed case of the highly infectious disease on Brisbanes ...northside. It brings the total number of cases recorded in the Metro North area in 2019 to four. The child developed symptoms after returning from overseas and was unknowingly infectious while visiting the following locations: Just Pharmacy at Murrumba Downs Shopping Centre between 7pm and 7.45pm on Tuesday 2 July Taigum Square Shopping Centre, Beams Road, Taigum between 10.15am and 11.15am on Friday 5 July Metro North Public Health physician Dr Rosie Muller said people who were in these areas at the same time should seek medical advice if they develop measles symptoms. Measles is one of the most infectious of all communicable diseases and is spread by tiny droplets generated through coughing and sneezing, Dr Muller said. Early symptoms include fever, runny nose, lethargy and sore, red eyes. This is followed a few days later by a blotchy red rash, which often starts on the face before becoming widespread. Symptoms typically start between 10 and 18 days after infection so anyone who develops symptoms within the next couple of weeks should contact their family doctor for advice. Its very important to call the medical practice first to say you could have measles, so that staff can take precautions to avoid spreading the disease to others.
