18.01.2022 Another AGM over. Healthy discussion and debate followed by a good meal. A Samian tradition.

18.01.2022 Thank you to our members, fellow Samians and friends of Samos who have shown so much interest and concern about the welfare of Samos and its people. We want to let you know that the Samian Brotherhood Board met last week to discuss the consequences of the earthquake and tsunami that affected parts of the island. The situation has clearly caused distress to Samians and Greeks in Sydney and across the world. The Brotherhood has decided that rather than accept the donations of... others it would make a significant contribution on behalf of its members towards disaster relief. Civic leaders on Samos have been asked to provide information and advice on how our contribution could best be utilised to help Samos and its people. Any constructive suggestions or ideas in the meantime are welcome and can be sent to [email protected].

16.01.2022 And for those of you who missed the latest newsletter here’s a brief historical note on the importance of the 11 November for Samos, the day our island commemorated its Unification with the Greek motherland.

14.01.2022 Today Sunday the 10th of November, the Samian Brotherhood has organised an excursion to the Blue Mountains. We caught two buses at Belmore at 8.00am. Bus A managed 48 people and bus B had 52. Weather is sunny and cool. We stopped at Echo Point for an hour and a half, for coffee and biscuits and will continue on to Penrith RSL for lunch and then continue onto Warragamba Dam if time permits. Time did permit us to have a stop at Warragamba Dam and although it was sad to see that... our water levels are below 50%, we all enjoyed looking, and sitting down in the visitor centre to watch some of the history and current situation of how Water NSW are handling all the surrounding environment and its preservation. Finally, on behalf of our committee, I would like to thank all our members who participated in this excursion today, and I find it very rewarding and satisfying regarding your positive feedback. I am very sure that the rest of the committee feel the same way and so we will see you all at the AGM that is scheduled to happen on the 1st of December 2019. See more

14.01.2022 Thanks Theo. An interesting historical video.

12.01.2022 Today we celebrate and commemorate the Unification of Samos with Greece in 1912. Despite the recent tragic events, our island will once more shine in the sun like a jewel of the Aegean. Thanks Effie for your post. ... LONG LIVE SAMOS & GREECE!

12.01.2022 Happy New Year to all our members, and we wish everyone a healthy, and happy 2020.

11.01.2022 Stratos Lakios has taken the time to retrieve an archive from Greek News from August of 1971 in Samos. Where were you during that time? My sister and myself were at a boarding school in Piraeus. https://www.facebook.com/stratos.lakios.3/videos/10223650433515845

11.01.2022 I know I have'nt posted anything for a long time but that does not mean I don't think of our Brotherhood. I am not in the committee any longer but that is a sto...ry for another day, but in the meantime I hope that all Samians are well and safe. Here is a video of a Greek band that I was only made aware off just now so I hope you enjoy it as much as I have. See more

05.01.2022 Our latest newsletter featuring: - our new Samian property in Kingsgrove and a viewing on Saturday 21 November 2020. - the deferment of the 2020 AGM to February 2021... - a memorial service for Samians to be held on 14 November 2020 at St Athanasios Church at Rookwood following the liturgy at approximately 11:00am.

04.01.2022 The Samian Brotherhood held a memorial service this morning at St Athanasios Church, Rookwood. Many members took the opportunity to attend the service and offer prayers for members who have passed and mourn the loss of young Aris and Claire who were tragically taken from us during the earthquake that recently rocked Samos. May their memory be eternal. We also offered prayers for the wellbeing of all Samians here and in Samos.
