16.01.2022 Congratulations to the Wallabadah Farmers Support Group on organising a great night for local farmers facing drought on December 20 at the famous local racetrack. Jenny and I loved being part of the event, and were sorry to hear the legendary Wallabadah New Year's Eve Race Meeting wasn't going ahead for 2019 due to the on-going dry season affecting the condition of the track.
14.01.2022 One of the annual speaking highlights for me each year is speaking to Year 10 students at Barker College school in Hornsby, Sydney. This year's event was on November 14 and again the students were a pleasure to speak to and meet.
10.01.2022 Agricultural company Syngenta were the first cab off the rank for 2020. Thanks for inviting Jenny and I to speak at your staff conference informal dinner on Tuesday, February 25, at the Novotel in Wollongong.
09.01.2022 Yelarbon, a small rural town about half-an-hour east of Goondiwindi in South west Queensland, is doing its bit to help its local farmers deal with the mental and emotional impacts of the on-going drought. It hosts a fortnightly Men's Breakfast at the town's lagoon, which is catered for by the local Men's Shed. They have had many interesting and varied speakers. Thanks for giving me that honour on November 19. I then headed to Yelarbon State School to chat to the students. See the photos on my website www.sambailey.com.au on the school visits page
04.01.2022 Thrilled to be part of this great program...Mate Helping Mate.
03.01.2022 We enjoy all our trips but opening the Dirranbandi Show on April 10 was definitely a highlight. Loved spending a couple of days in the small south-west Queensland town which Jenny and I discovered has a big heart, an amazing community spirit and runs a fantastic show even in challenging times. Congratulations!!!
02.01.2022 It was an eventful trip to north west Queensland on March 23 to speak at the Cloncurry Genetics Muster, a joint initiative of the North West Branch of the Australian Brahman Breeders Association, Sisters of the North and Cloncurry Shire Council. It aimed to support local beef producers who a couple of years ago faced devastating floods that caused the deaths of thousands of head of cattle. The plane on our flight from Brisbane to Cloncurry was struck by lightning mid-air, for...cing us to return to Brisbane Airport to change planes. It then poured rain after Jenny and I arrived at Cloncurry, during passing storms that weren't really forcast. Meanwhile NSW and southern Queensland were receiving huge rainfall, which resulted in massive flooding throughout southern Queensland and northern NSW closing many roads between Brisbane and home. It took an extra day and a convoluted route to finally get home, where thankfully, all was okay apart from some minor flood damage in low lying areas. Thanks also to MMG Mining and Cloncurry Shire Council for sponsoring our flights to and from the event. See more
02.01.2022 Great to see Josie Clarke doing her bit for people with disabilities who want to work in agriculture....
02.01.2022 Quick trip to Canberra to speak to the team at ACIC (Australian Criminal Intelligence Commission) on Thursday December 5 to help them recognise International Day of People with Disabilities (which was on Tuesday December 3). Thanks for making me and Jenny so welcome.
02.01.2022 It was meant to be a morning of farm visits but MacIntyre Valley Cotton Field Day on March 17 was held entirely at Riddles Oval in Goondiwindi after welcome rain tumbled down all day. Jenny and I spoke after lunch to the background of raindrops on the tin roof of the oval grandstand. No one imagined that within a week the town and surrounds would be facing the biggest flood since 2011!!!!
