25.01.2022 Dips are a fantastic and challenging upper body exercise. If youre struggling with your dips, try using your feet as much or as little as you need to help you build strength through a full range of motion.

If you'd like to know more and start your journey with us with a trial week to get a feel for who we are and what we do message 'TRIAL' and one of the team will be in touch to arrange a consultation ASAP.

24.01.2022 We are entering the final 2 weeks of this gaa block and we have seen strength just shoot up. Effort and technique has been key for this group and we are excited for our testing week next week! Like Danny here, the group have had great focus attacking the main lifts and building towards heavier loads but with great technique! If you're interested in joining our next GAA strength programme reach out. It's a great group to be part of.

24.01.2022 Our 6 week reboot finished on Saturday. 30 of the crew took part and the results over the past 6 weeks speak for themselves. The crew with a fat loss goal had some epic results.... There was an average of 3.07kg lost. The average drop in body fat was 2.94% The average cm dropped from chest, waist, glutes and arms was 12.67cm. The crew that were gaining all gained weight with no more than .9% increase in bodyfat %. This wasn't about who could drop/gain the most weight, bodyfat or cm though. We focused on creating some really positive habits and kept the crew accountable with submitting food diaries, weekly steps, sunrise/sunset walk pictures, setting clear goals, attending our movement and nutrition workshops, weekly nutrition q+a's as well as walks and yoga. We had a number of prizes up for grabs with the top prize being 6 months unlimited group training for the rebooter who made the biggest physical and lifestyle changes throughout. There could have been 20 of the crew deserving of this but Emma and Kates names kept coming up between the coaches and they both could not have been more deserving of the prize which we split. Ladies you absolutely smashed the last 6 weeks as well as the 5 weeks before and 12 weeks of online training throughout lockdown. Congratulations ladies and congratulations to all the crew that absolutely nailed the reboot. Excited to see what's to come from you all next once your new goals have been set.

23.01.2022 Pause squats are a simple and effective way of increasing your strength, control, mobility and confidence while squatting. Adding a few pause squats (aim for a 3-5 second pause) in to your warm up sets is a great way to get more out of your squat session.

23.01.2022 Coffee and catch up in the park with some of the crew after another fantastic weeks training. Have a great weekend everyone!

22.01.2022 Chasing a sweat and chasing marginal gains are very different. Some fantastic progress made through this block and we're excited to see how the rest of this last week of the block goes. Consistency is key and the crew that have turned up consistently and pushed themselves throughout this block are seeing what their hard work produces.... Some fantastic lifting from our Monday morning crews. Our next 6 week block starts next week and it's the perfect time to get started with us. If you'd like to know more message 'get started' and one of the team will be in touch to arrange a consultation before getting you started on your satisfaction guaranteed or your money back trial. What have you got to lose?

21.01.2022 Huge congratulations to @channieb who won the draw at the end of our 6 week reboot. We focused on creating some really positive habits and kept the crew accountable with submitting food diaries, weekly steps, weekly weigh ins, sunrise/sunset walk pictures, setting clear goals, attending our movement and nutrition workshops, weekly nutrition q+a's as well as walks and yoga. Chantal was one of 20 taking part that completed the above over the 6 weeks successfully and got their n...ames in the draw at the end. This wasn't about who could drop/gain the most weight, bodyfat or cm though even through she absolutely smashed it dropping 3.6kg, 3.6% bodyfat and 12.75cm. Enjoy your $500 Crowne Plaza Hunter Valley voucher and thank you for choosing @indigenousliteracyfoundation as your charity to donate $1000 to. Well deserved

21.01.2022 Fitness is a journey, not a destination so you may as well surround yourself with a bunch of bloody legends that motivate you, push you, inspire you and make you smile so that you enjoy the ride Different goals, ages, trianing experience, injury history, backgrounds etc but all here to make daily progress and work towards their goals. We had people hitting chin ups for reps for the first time this morning while others hit weighted chin ups, some progressed to eccentric reps f...rom inverted rows for the first time amongst other things. Progress comes in many ways. Then some timed planks to end todays sessions because what gets measured gets improved. Great start to the week crew

21.01.2022 Before getting started with your trial week we meet everyone for a quick consultation. We use this time to tell you about everything you can expect from us to ensure you reach your goals and more (if you're willing to put the work in) such as: 1. Top quality coaching from our highly experienced and qualified team.... 2. A periodized programme that delivers results and not just a sweat. 3. Accountability to ensure youre turning up consistently, putting the work in, staying on track and working towards achieving your goals. 4. Nuritional advice from our in house nutritionist so youre fuelled to perform, recovering from the stress of training and also eating correctly for your goals. 5. Education through workshops, live Q+As, seminars and our private fb group. 6. Community and social activities. All the above while being surrounded by an amazing crew from all walks of life that not only train together and push you on but socialise regularly with our coffee catch ups, nights out, walks, yoga etc. We also use this time to tell you about what we expect from you as a client because we pride ourselves on delivering real and sustainable results and want the right people who are willing to put the work in to join our thriving community and hit their goals and more. This is also a chance to ask us any questions you may have and check out our facility. We also discuss training and injury history as well as goals to ensure we get you started on the most suitable programme. To schedule your consultation message 'get started' and one of the team will be in touch asap.

20.01.2022 Shoutout to the runners up from our 6 week reboot. Goals were set and goals were smashed. A gain of 2.8kg, 11cm and only .9% bodyfat.... A loss of 3.3kg, 2.7% bodyfat and 21cm. A loss of 4.9kg, 5.8% bodyfat and 12.25cm. They had different goals but they absolutely smashed them. They made some amazing progress and changes over the 6 weeks not just physically but also in the gym and outside of it too. They had also been putting in some serious effort before the reboot and during lockdown. We had a huge focus on education, lifestyle, goal setting and habit building for healthy, real and sustainable results. No fads or quick fixes! New goals have been set and I've no doubt they will continue to make amazing progress. Congratulations Andy, Gertrud and Grant and congratulations to all the 6 week rebooters that took part. Everyone that completed it hit their goals and you're all a bunch of legends and winners

20.01.2022 We have the final few remaining spots available for our GAA PRE Season Programme Access to up to 4 strength and conditioning sessions a week for 7 weeks, access to online sports nutritionist and former professional rugby player Jonny Holland, strength testing and the opportunity to train with a great group here at Samlab to prepare for the season ahead. 20.01.2022 Want to train in a group but worried about feeling lost or out of your depth? We've got you covered with a variety of training options to suit your needs, wants and goals. We offer small group training, 1-1 personal training and also have hybrid options too which for someone with less lifting experience is a great way to get started as the 1-1 coaching sessions gets them up to speed quickly.... We meet everyone for a consultation before starting their trial week as this chat and movement screen helps us decide which option to will best serve you going forward. We coach everything from the warm up to the finisher and everything in between in our small group sessions. We have alternatives and progressions for everything and we rarely have a session where everyone is doing the same thing due to skill level, training history and injury history. If you'd like to start group training but are worried about getting started, taking the first step can be the hardest part. Message 'get started' and one of the team will be in touch to arrange your consultation and trial week.

18.01.2022 Fresh new tees (and singlets) for some of the OGs These two legends plus a few others have been with us since we opened our doors in April 2018. We've been handing out new tshirts and singlets over the past few weeks to all the crew that have been with us for 365+ days. If you're looking for a 6 week programme or quick fix this January we're probably not what you're looking for, even though we can definitely help. ... We're not about fads or quick fixes but we do quick wins and build momentum early. We pride ourselves on delivering the results our clients want whilst also giving them what they didn’t know they needed and educating them along the way through our movement workshops with our physio, 1-1 consultations with our nutritionist as well as her weekly educational coaching calls and much more. We get it that gyms can be an intimidating place but we have created a safe space with an amazing community since opening our doors almost 3 years ago and we’d love you to come check us out and see what we are about. Hopefully you'll be rocking one of these this time next year after smashing your goals and achieving much more.

18.01.2022 Our GAA programme came to a close for this year with some serious gainz being made on all our main lifts! It's great to see consistent work being rewarded with excellent results! Well done to all involved. Our pre season programme will begin January 11th. If you are interested in 3/4 gym sessions with a week geared at getting you pitch ready then reach out today! Limited spaces

17.01.2022 Our Summer Prep GAA Group half way through week 2 tonight. Fantastic session. Introduction of Olympic lifting tech & a real tough met con at end. We go again Friday #GAA #strengthtraining #conditioning #fitness #gaaoz #sydney #NSWGAA #gaelicfootball #hurling #strong #athlete #weightlifting #highperformance #movement #camogie #strengthtesting #summergoals #Gym #GymSydney

16.01.2022 Don't forget to enjoy the journey while trying to reach the destination. Be consistent, be patient and surround yourself with amazing people to enjoy the ride with. Another big week here as we end this current block, have a great one!

15.01.2022 Coffees in the park with some of the crew after the 2nd session this morning. Great end to a great 1st week of 2021

15.01.2022 Sam Lab Saturdays Have a great weekene everyone, looking forward to the beginning of a new strength block on Monday.

15.01.2022 Full house Fridays 3 of our 4 AM sessions all full this morning and sessions have been consistently busy for a while which is great to see but it does mean that any new small group members joining between now and January will be on a waitlist for early classes until next year. We cap our strength and movement sessions at 12 people to ensure the highest standard of coaching and so there is enough equipment for each person *we cap our Saturday sessions at 20 though as we use l...ower skilled movements. Anyone coming on board for now will only have access to our 5.15am 12.30pm 5pm 5.45pm and 6.30pm sessions as well as Saturdays as we want to ensure all current members have access to our busier and now full classes. One of the positives from these sessions is the slightly smaller class size meaning a better coach to client ratio which is perfect for the newer crew trying to get up to speed with the movements and pace of our sessions. If these times suit and you're interested in getting started with our week trial message 'start' and we'll be in touch today to arrange a consultation and movement screen asap to get you in and going.

14.01.2022 This is what the 17 rebooters with a fat loss goal lost between them over the past 6 weeks. An average of 3.07kg lost, the average drop in body fat was 2.94% and the average cm dropped was 12.68cm. No fads, no bullshit, nothing that will have a negative affect on their long term health, nothing unsustainable and most importantly results that will still be there and improved upon in the weeks after the 6 week reboot.... They: 1. Trained 3x per week (minimum). 2. Averaged 10,000 steps daily with proof at the end of the week. 3. Set clear goals and worked out their daily calories and macros (our in house nutritionist was at hand to help with a workshop and weeky live Q+As) 4. Weekly food shop pictures submitted. Fail to prepare, prepare to fail and all that! 5. Kept a weekly food diary as well as writing down small weekly habits, goals and what did/didn't go well the previous week. Win or learn! 6. Weighed in weekly for accountability and to see if changes needed made to nutrition plans. We used the food diaries and our nutritionist for guidance here too. 7. Shared a sunrise or sunset walk once per week with proof to build positive habits and get outdoors. 8. Attended some of our socials such as yoga, walk in the national park, movement workshop and live Q+As. The results speak for themselves. Everyone that took part smashed it. We also had some amazing results from our crew that had a muscle gain goal. Training, nutrition and accountability for real and sustainable results! If you'd like to know more about what we offer message 'get started and one of the team will be in touch to arrange a consultation to get you started with our satisfaction guaranteed or your money back trial.

14.01.2022 You're not too old or weak to join a gym. You don't need to have training experience. You don't need to be pain/injury free to participate in our programmes. You do have enough time in the day. You are more than capable of getting the results you want.... You won't be thrown in at the deep end. You won't be mocked/starred/laughed at. You will be coached through everything. You will see amazing progress if you're willing to take that first step and make the necessary changes and sacrifices. We've got the programmes but you need to take action and be willing to make the necessary changes. If you're interested in trying our small group training, message 'GET STARTED' and we'll schedule your consultation where we'll talk about your goals, trianing & injury history, show you our facility and get your started on your trial. The 6.45am crew absolutely smashed it today and shoutout to the new crew that ticked their first group sessions off. Great to see the gym busy on the first day of the week

14.01.2022 For sustainable results be consistently good instead of occasionally perfect. We practice and preach the 80/20 rule. Our rebooters enjoyed some well earned beers and treats from the boys @bakedandco_hq next door after their 6 week reboot.... The crew achieved some amazing results and almost 2 weeks on they are continuing to make fantastic progress. #80/20

13.01.2022 We want you to get stronger, make progress and enjoy the satisfaction of seeing marginal gains from the hard work you've put in but we don't give a f**k what the actual weight on the bar is. You're only competing with yourself, you're not training to compete in the Olympics or a powelifting competition when here. If someone starts hitting better depth on a squat after working on their ankle mobility I'm happy. If someone increases their 3 rep max by 2.5kg after a 6 week bloc...k I'm happy. If someone hits 2 x bodyweight back squat for the first time I'm happy. Progress comes in many ways. Remove the ego, be consistent with form and depth whether you're working upto a 3 rep max like today or hitting 10 reps on a warm up set. Treat them all the same. If you start to compromise form or hit questionable depth with heavier loads remove the ego, strip the weight back, set a ball or box up to squat to at or below parallel, be consistent at that depth and remember limited range reps = limted progress.

13.01.2022 We help people live, look and feel better through Strength and Movement. We offer Small Group Training, Personal Training, GAA Strength & Conditioning, Mums & Bubs programmes as well as having a physio and nutritionist all under one roof. Standard morning in the gym today with a small group session running alongside a 1-1 session up top.... If you'd like to know more about our programmes message 'Know more' and one of the team will be in touch to arrange a consultation before deciding which option will best suit you so you can start you satisfaction guaranteed or your money back trial.

12.01.2022 Test week for our GAA group. After 7 weeks of training and focusing on not just the weights but the quality of movement we are into our test week this Friday. We will test squat bench and chins. If we don't measure then we are just guessing! Looking forward to some big scores. @ Strength and Movement Lab Alexandria

11.01.2022 When doing the ab rollout the goal should be to hold the same position of your spine throughout. As your arms move out, your hips should move down at the same time. If you’re finding it hard to hold your position, try setting up in front of a wall and only roll out as far as you can control. Gradually move further away from the wall as your strength improves.

10.01.2022 Massive shout out to this legend who was one of our pre summer shred runners up. Phil absolutely smashed the 6 week shred dropping a whopping 5.3kg and making some amazing progress in the gym. No fads, quick fixes or bullshit just consistency, patience, always putting in a huge effort during sessions and making small changes to his routine and lifestyle using our shred checklist to stay accountable.... All this while balancing work and taking care of his young family with the youngest only born late June. He recieved his prize just before Christmas which was a slab of @tonik.nutrition protein and a nice bottle of red, balance right there eh? Keep up the epic work mate, the results speak for themselves and I'm excited to see what's to come in 2021.

10.01.2022 I've seen some badly butchered back squats over the years, some pretty ugly front squats but I rarely see a bad goblet squat or one that can't be easily fixed with a little bit of coaching and a few simple cues. Stop trying the fancy new exercises that you see on social media, nail the basics consistently, focus on big compound lifts, make sure to push, pull, squat, hinge, lunge and carry over the week, throw some unilateral exercises in their, ensure you are tacking and prog...ressively overloading (more weight, reps, sets, slower temp etc) to put new stress on the body and take your recovery seriously for adaptation to occur We always include a hinge, squat and carry on lower days so today after some heavy deadlifts we hit some heavy goblet squats for 3 sets of 6 reps (6310) before some suitcase carries. The tempo meaning 6 seconds down, 3 second pause, 1 second up, no/minimal pause at the top and straight back down. 60 seconds for one set Grab a relatively heavy dumbell or kettlebell and give it a crack. Even the crew hitting heavy back squats in Tuesdays sessions where humbled by this basic movement with a slow tempo today. Nice bonus of spending time and getting more comfortable in the bottom position too and a modern, more sedentary society means most of us could be spending more time in a deeper squat

08.01.2022 The rule is, when you squat heavy... You must make a terrible face Here's @monaghanross who's squat shot up after 7 weeks on our GAA Programme. Being supported and spotted by the group as he hits a 152.kg squat to depth for 3 reps. He has been so consistent in his training and attacks the bar every time. If we don't test, then how do we measure? We had some great results last Friday not and we are really looking forward to the next block starting September 7th Reach out if you want to see a difference in your training

08.01.2022 We will be testing out our 3 rep max bench press tomorrow. It’s important that you and your spotter are on the same page when it comes to your heavy lifts. Don’t be caught out without a spotter or with a spotter that comes in too early when you ‘100% had that’. Practice how to spot during your warm ups. Cue when the bar is yours and when you want them to help.

07.01.2022 You’re not just another number in a big group doing a random workout with little to no coaching. You’re here to be part of the SAM Lab family, train in a small group, be coached through everything we do from the warm-up to the finisher and train progressively through our periodized programme. It’s not a one size fits all programme either, we modify exercises to suit, change the rep schemes depending on your experience, educate you, ensure you’re pushing yourself and progres...sing safely so you get stronger, more mobile and work towards your body composition goals. If you follow the programme, track what you lift, push yourself and listen to the advice from our in house nutritionist you will look and feel amazing. Whether you’re a nervous newbie looking to learn the basics or an experienced lifter wanting a periodized programme backed by science to avoid plateaus and injuries we’ve got you covered. Result come from doing not thinking so message 'TRIAL' and we'll be in touch to arrange a consultation (chat & movement screen) so you can start your trial.

07.01.2022 Linda and Sarah nailing the snatch grip Romanian deadlift after their back squats this morning. Great work ladies. In the same session we had Ray back squatting 130kg for reps. The crew are making some epic progress during this block and we are excited to see what's to come. No matter what your age, gender, training experience, injury history or goals are we have got you covered with our small group training, 1-1 training and hybrid (combination of both) options.... To find out more message 'Get Started' and one of the team will reach out to arrange a consultation before getting you started on your trial week.

06.01.2022 Big shoutout to @channieb who won our monthly challenge for August with a seriously impressive time completing 30 plate ground to overheads. Congratulations and well deserved First crack at the September challenge this Tuesday. Let's see who takes the prize this time.

06.01.2022 Zombie squats are a fantastic assistance exercise for the front squat. They will help you find the correct placement of the bar across your shoulders and highlight the importance of keeping your chest and elbows high throughout the lift. Try them out for a few sets before your next front squat session.

06.01.2022 "Look... Look at all the gainz we have made" We finished up our latest block to our GAA Programme and saw some really big lifts and alot of personal bests among the group. This was a really enjoyable block seeing big changes in many of the group! Or next block begins Monday 7th of September and we have limited spaces. Reach out if you're interested in our Gaa Summer Prep Programme . : @spectralframes... #GAA #strengthtraining #conditioning #fitness #gaaoz #sydney #NSWGAA #gaelicfootball #hurling #strong #athlete #weightlifting #highperformance #movement #camogie #strengthtesting #summergoals #Gym #GymSydney

05.01.2022 We combine body weight exercises with weighted exercises to allow for the focus to be on movement quality. Prioritise your movement and strength will follow.

04.01.2022 Perfect morning for a hike in the Royal National Park to Karloo Pool with the crew. Saturday morning well spent, have a great weekend everyone

04.01.2022 Is 2021 going to be the year you finally get the results you've always wanted? We can help, all we ask is that you turn up, be consistent, be patient, follow the programme and listen to then implement the advice from our coaches, physio and nutritionist like this lot and many more did in 2020. Our coaches have over 30 years of coaching experience between them and will coach you through everything whilst educating you along the way.... You'll not be doing a bunch of random exercises, curcuits, ab workouts or endless cardio here. You'll follow a periodized programme to ensure you don't plateau and we tailor the sessions to your needs. Our in house physio is also there to help with any issues that need to be addressed. You'll have a sit down with our in house nutritionist too as well as having access to her weekly coaching calls to ensure you're getting the specific advice and support to ensure your on track to reach your body composition goals as well as fuelling up and recovering properly from your training. If you're ready to make 2021 the year you finally ditch the fads and quick fixes and see real, sustainable and lasting results message 'trial' and one of the team will be in touch to arrange a consultation and movement screen so you're ready to start your satisfaction guaranteed or your money back week trial.

04.01.2022 Paying for guitar lessons when you can't play the guitar doesn't mean you will know how to play it. You need to turn up to those lessons put the work in when there and also spend time working towards that goal outside of the lessons. You skip a few lessons here and there you'll get the results much slower.... You don't put the work in outside of the lessons and you'll get the results much slower. You try to go it alone and teach yourself, you may get there if you put the time and effort in but I'm sure it'll take much longer with lot's of trial and error. Same goes with paying for a gym membership and wanting to get results. You skip or cancel sessions regularly and you're going to get results much slower than someone who turns up and trains consistently. You only focus on the time in the gym and don't put the work in for the other 23 hours of the day you'll get results much slower. You try to go it alone when you've never trained before instead of investing in a coach. You may still get there if you put the time and work in but I'm sure it'll take much longer with lot's of trial and error. We provide the tools but that doesn't mean you will get the results, you must still put in the work in. We're here to coach you, educate you, support you, motivate you, inspire you and keep you accountable but we can't be with you 24 hours a day and do the work for you. You have to want it. If you'd like to know more message 'get started' and one of our highly experienced coaches will be in touch to arrange a consultation so we can discuss your goals, training and injury history and also what we expect from you as a client and what you you will get from us. We want more people like the awesome crew we already have and we only want people that are willing to put the work in and make the necessary changes to achieve their goals and more.

03.01.2022 It doesn't matter whether you're looking to get stronger, build muscle, improve mobility or reduce bodyfat so that you can perform better at your sport, make the quality of life in your later years better, feel more confident in your body, look better, feel better, alleviate pain or prevent injuries. We can help no matter your goals, injury history, training experience, age etc. Message 'get started' and one of our team will be in touch to arrange a consultation before starting your satisfaction guaranteed or your money back trial week.
