22.01.2022 How do you spend your days off?? . For myself, days off are for rest, relaxation and recovery! Ohh and puppy cuddles ... . To me there is nothing better on a day off than to get some much needed treatment to get my body feeling good for the rest of the week ahead . Coming home after that to chillax and cuddle/spoil my puppies Get solid time in for some active recovery and stretches while putting a movie or my favourite TV show or even music while reflecting on how I can better myself as a Health Practitioner means a day well spent!

The Trapezius and Semispinalis Capitis can cause some real problems with Posture, Active Range of Movement, Cervical stiffness/Tightness and soreness. With these two muscles pulling down on your neck creating tension, your Posture can be lacklustre. The Trapezius and Semispinalis Capitis can also cause really nasty Headaches. 13.01.2022 Its MONDAY!! Time to get moving again! Stretching keeps the muscles flexible, strong and healthy. We need that flexibility to maintain a range of motion in our joints. Without it, the muscles shorten and become tight. Then, when you call on the muscles for activity or activation they are not quite able to flex and extend all the way. This puts you at risk for joint pain, strains, and muscle damage. BUT the best part about exercising is that muscles stretch while youre doing... your activity which I think a lot of people dont realise! We as practitioners give stretches and strengthening exercises for a REASON! To help you get the best out of yourself and get those fulfilling results! Lets tick a box this week! Lets EVERYONE do this aaaaand... (To my patients, Im especially looking at YOU!!) Lets find that time in our day to get shit DONE! Do you sit and watch #netflix? You can do these stretches in the comfort of your own home! 10-15 minutes is all I ask! We never want them to be in pain, I wish I could take all his pain and transfer it to my body so he didn’t have to put up with it! On the up side... I reckon he’s got a pretty good Practitioner to do his rehab, don’t you!?

Well y...oure in luck - we have the workshop for you! The Movement Fix is as the name suggests it is all about moving well, moving often, for life! Topics will include: What causes poor movement patterns How do poor patterns affect shoulders, knees, necks and low backs Identifying and rectifying poor motor control Treatment options and accessory support strategies This is both theory and an interactive workshop, so you will be doing the ACTUAL movement work at the same time! We will be giving all attendees a free postural assessment and a voucher for a complimentary functional movement evaluation with our exercise physiologist. Speakers will include movement expert Duncan Maxwell, a strength and conditioning coach with over 25 years of experience in movement correction. 02.01.2022 Viewer discretion is advised BENJI IS HOME!! I am very happy to report that Surgery was a success for my little dude! ... Unfortunately there was a fair bit of damage in Benjis knee, his ACL was found completely in half and his Medial Meniscus was cooked. This means that recovery time will be a little longer because of the Meniscus being removed Good news is that everything is repaired, his meniscus has been removed and his Cruciate Ligament is now fishing wire... YUP, YOU READ THAT RIGHT! Fishing wire! This came as a shock to me as well! Unlike humans that would usually have Hamstring used to repair an ACL, Dogs anatomy is a little different! A small hole is made in the Tibia and Femur. Fishing wire is used to hook between this to create a ligament. This will scar up over the next 3 months or so to help stabilise the joint of the knee. Rehabilitation: Gentle Flexion (1 set of 10 reps) 3-5 times daily Gentle Extension (1 set of 10 reps) 3-5 times daily Gentle Bicycle Rotations (1 set of 10 reps) 3-5 times daily Ice packs for 10 minutes 4 times daily I never really thought that being a Myotherapist would come in handy in terms of Animals, I had never even given it a thought until now, but Im very glad that I have the knowledge that I do to be able to help my little buddy recover to the best of my ability! Heres to a solid and speedy recovery! P.s. Thank You to everyone who has sent such kind messages and advice over the past few days, you guys rock!
