24.01.2022 It’s Yellow Ribbon Day! A day to show our support to our hard-working Rural Fire Service (RFS) volunteers On this day last year, they were already on the fron...t-line fighting devastating fires near Stanthorpe in the state’s south-west and Binna Burra in the south-east. There’s more than 30,000 of them across the state and we can’t thank them enough for all they do. Binna Burra bushfire 2019

23.01.2022 Thank you to Moreton Bay Regional Council for erecting our new fire danger rating sign. It is still in the same highly visible location as before in front of our fire shed, on the corner of Kobble Creek and Mount Samson Roads. This sign is very regularly updated with changing weather conditions and will be of high importance to the public in the upcoming fire season. The current fire danger rating for our area is low-moderate... Please visit https://www.ruralfire.qld.gov.au/Pages/FDR.aspx for more information.
23.01.2022 Please see below for planned burns by the MBRC.

22.01.2022 Residents of Cedar Creek & Closeburn may notice a new Fire Danger Rating sign for the area at the beginning of Cedar Creek Rd. The Fire Danger Rating (FDR) is a...n early indicator of potential danger and should act as your first trigger for action. The higher the rating, the greater the need for you to act. 16.01.2022 A notice from our friends at Closeburn Rural Fire Brigade.
15.01.2022 Anzac Day was the perfect weather to conduct our first large broad acre burn for the coolburn season. 17 members took part and we managed to burn 60 acres. Additional to the 17 on ground we also had 3 working on logistics to make sure the troops were well fed. Its hard work especially in this terrain and made even more difficult by trying to adhere to the social distancing rules but the boys and girls worked all day. It was a great learning opportunity for our new members and our up and coming leaders. Today the fire danger rating will go to high so our window of opportunity for conducting these hazard reductions will be very slim unless we get some rain. Please take this time to prepare your properties and yourselves for the fire season.
15.01.2022 Good morning everyone, Just another friendly notice that we will be doing a hazard reduction burn on Dales Road in the Kobble Pocket area today.

13.01.2022 Happy National Volunteer Week, Queensland! Despite the circumstances, we will spend the week celebrating, because we think its important to continue supporting each other and the terrific work our volunteers do!
13.01.2022 Hi community, We will be conducting a hazard reduction burn today in the Kobble Creek area for preparation on the upcoming fire season. We are adhering to social distancing rules.
12.01.2022 SVRFB members attended an award ceremony at Samford RFB on Monday night. First officer Craig Henderson and third officer Liane Henderson received the National award for Senior fire fighter, Kevin Taylor received the 2nd clasp for the National award, Crew Leader Hollie Wade received the QFES Award and our life member Geoff (poppy) Henderson received the 4th clasp to the National Award, a very high achievement with 67 years in service to his community. The National award is fo...r recognition of long and diligent service with government and voluntary organisations whose members risk their lives or safety to protect and assist the community in enforcement of law or in times of emergency or natural disaster. The QFES medal is in recognition of diligence and ethical service. The awards were presented by Assistant Commissioner John Cawcutt with Superintendent Tim Chittenden facilitating the evening. Thank you to the Samford brigade for hosting and providing a beautiful supper.
12.01.2022 The hazard reduction burn on Saturday was a success! We completed it within a few hours and it all burnt beautifully. Special thanks to the land owners for supplying a lovely morning tea Here are some photos from the morning.
11.01.2022 Good morning community, There is a bit of smoke around this morning, this is coming from a few stack burns around the area as well as a burn that has been done on Mount Glorious. The cold air overnight has pushed the smoke down into the valleys and closer to the ground. As the earth warms up today, the smoke will disperse. This is called an inversion layer where the cold air meets the hot air. The Brigade will be conducting a broad acre burn this Saturday so if you see smoke in the air around the Mount Kobble area, thats us!
11.01.2022 The Samsonvale Brigade have been hard at work with HRBs for the upcoming fire season. QFES have listed a few definitions to help the community differentiate between Hazard reduction burns, Backburning and Burning out.
11.01.2022 Dayboro RFB assisted parks last night at a fire in the DAguilar National Park Mount Mee. This is likely the cause of the smoke you may have woken up to in the valley this morning.
10.01.2022 Geoff Henderson has been an invaluable member of Samsonvale RFB since 1954. What an honour it has been learning from the best!
10.01.2022 Thanks Paul for your 30+ years of volunteering, you’re a brilliant member with great knowledge.
09.01.2022 *STACK BURN NOTICE* Hello community Samsonvale RFB will be conducting a few stack burns in the Kobble Creek area.
08.01.2022 The brigade have been busy conducting a number of hazard reduction burns in the area over the last few months. Our window of opportunity to complete hazard reduction burns has now closed as it is far too dry, even though we have had a scattering of showers. The fire danger rating is now high to very high. ... We are now in the bushfire season so please make sure your properties are prepared, safe and you have a bushfire survival plan. For further information you can contact the rural fire website www.ruralfire.com.au

02.01.2022 Hi community A stack burn is currently underway down Cedar Creek road, Closeburn.
01.01.2022 Good morning community We will be doing a controlled burn in the Kobble Creek area today to prepare for the upcoming fire season. All social distancing regulations will be in place.
01.01.2022 As a follow up from our last broad acre burn, the crew set out on Saturday to learn about the environmental changes to the land after a cool burn and why this is a key period for hazard reduction. As First Officer Craig and Third Officer Liane walked us through the property, we came across fungus in the burnt areas which is a great indication of nutrient rich soil. We also learnt about how fire can affect the life stages of trees and the curing process to which leaves and grass are more flammable. When a tree has been placed under extreme stress whether due to a drought, flood or fire they genuinely enter a process call Epicormic Growth. This is where the tree will throw as many shoots and leaves out to try and regenerate itself. We are looking forward to our next HRB this weekend!
01.01.2022 Even though a little windy, last weekend was great weather for a burn. We managed to finish up just before a bit of rain came through the area too! Also a massive thanks to the property owners for a generous morning tea and lunch, it was very much appreciated! Special thanks to Madolyn from QFES Media for these great photos.
01.01.2022 Our friends at Dayboro RFB will be conducting a scheduled HRB tomorrow, Saturday the 5th September.
