23.01.2022 Wow. Shearing is done for another year. I am very happy with some of the alpacas 2nd and 3rd fleeces proving I must be doing something right with the breeding. Thank you Mick Elkins for a great day and professional finish. Thanks also to my neighbour Lauren for helping me today.

22.01.2022 so true! Your fruit trees, roses and everything in your garden will love this stuff!

22.01.2022 And a good post on spinning suri. Euro fibre is challenging to spin because it is slippery with fewer smaller "hooks" where the scales meet. But the finished product is incredible and unique. The trick is to overspin and overspin the ply as well. Im also told that lightly ironing the finished yarn will bring out the natural lustre.

14.01.2022 New cria born this morning. Its a girl! She is a bit early and down on pasterns but is strong and healthy. He dam is Purumbete Fracenet (white) and her sire is Azzura Panero (black). Happy with the colour as the last cria from this pairing was white

13.01.2022 I have a selection of older wethers for sale if anybody is looking for herd guards.

12.01.2022 Another girl born a couple of days ago

11.01.2022 Interesting article. If you love suri then taking the time to wash the locks properly will be worth it. If you then hand comb each lock and spin them from the same end each time you will get beautiful yarn that showcases the lustre.

10.01.2022 Alpaca wool is probably even lower as there is less scouring required with no lanolin... Alpaca are environmentally friendly, and their wool is incredible. Lets embrace natural fibres, especially those that have less impact on the environment to both grow and process :)

10.01.2022 Yay, another girl! And a surprise black! Both parents are dark fawn. Its going to be frosty overnight, so a little coat to help keep her warm! Yes, its very dry here on the Darling Downs...

09.01.2022 Shearing is finished for another year. 78 alpacas in 7.5 hours... thanks Mick Elkins for another successful shearing day. Had a couple of pleasant surprises in cria fleeces that look stunning so am looking forward to what those babies grow into.

08.01.2022 Very important that alpacas live in a herd. They are not kittens.

07.01.2022 New cria born today... she is a bit early and down the on her pasterns but is keeping up with the herd. Mum is a black suri and dad is the same colour as this little one. A few more due in the coming weeks.. all from a male who jumped the fence last year :)

06.01.2022 Im fairly convince that Genetic Modification of our food crops will end up as a complete disaster, not to mention that by interfering with the natural order of things, GM food is probably harder to digest than organic food... however, this is actually a political discussion about the potential to destroy the organic food industry in Australia, so please consider contacting your local federal member to express your concern.

04.01.2022 I was explaining the "scales" on natural fibres to somebody just recently. Alpaca really is special!

03.01.2022 A great online magazine to read - produced by the suri network in the USA... https://issuu.com/thesurinetwork/docs/purely_suri_2015

02.01.2022 New cria born today. He is very black! His mother is black and his father is dark fawn but is known to throw black. Time will tell as to whether he has a quality fleece. He is strong and healthy and has a very protective mother who wouldnt let me get any closer. I took my life in my hands to lift his tail while she screamed and threatened to spit at me or knock me over or something... very quick look under the tail

01.01.2022 This girl was born on Anzac day - yes a bit slack of me to not post it until now! She has 2 black parents, so it was a surprise she came out a red-head! Her name is Scarlett.
