24.01.2022 Course strategy: Tee shot Wentworth GC, Orange 270m par 4 The common theme I’ll tell anyone looking to sharpen up there course play is to have 0 penalty strokes from hazards or OB ... When taking into account an easy short par 4 you have to remember what your possible Shot DISPERSION can be. ie (how far far in total width you can hit a shot left or right off your intended target line. Having a quick look over some old clients trackman numbers this can vary from 43-90m+ in width Any player A-D grade on this first hole with OB right off the tee would I advise to ever start a ball right of centre: a pushed pull 10m offline can equal a lost ball. I also follow the strategy of a straight hit shot should never land you OB or in a hazard. Hence u will see for all grades in the image I have the start line well away from trouble allowing for possible poor shot still being in play. If you can’t make 4 from anywhere down that left side, your Shortgame needs work I will go deeper into dispersion related to your own shot pattern in further posts. #coursemanagement

24.01.2022 Getting the Trail arm elbow (green line) below the lead arm (yellow line) when the lead arm is parallel to the ground is a good position to be able shallow the club and pivot from! Ideally happens naturally but some pump drills rehearsing the move in front of a mirror could help you see where you need to be. If your trail elbow is above the yellow line this may be a good indicator that you are too steep in transition and causing you numerous fault...s. 24.01.2022 Chipping with shaft Lean - Handle/ hands must rise and move up through impact and to finish to avoid leading edge digging. - More shaft lean = more hands must move on an upward arc to maintain shallow graze of the turf ... - Practice giving the most shaft lean you can without taking a divot by using the feeling or hitting up on the ball - Don’t forget adding shaft lean changes loft and club face direction (if you do not adjust) - #keeponchippin #orangensw #chipping See more

24.01.2022 SHOCKING IMAGES - World #1 Justin Rose caught cheating during practice! - Disobeying every 26 handicapper’s advice to a new golfer and NOT keeping his head down ... - I’m yet to confirm if he has used this illegal move during competition rounds, I’ve been using this secret move for many years and thought I’d kept it under wraps. - As a coach I can only speculate he may be trying to realise the head/ neck to open his chest more to possibly hit the ball even better to never let this #1 status go! #selfish - you do not need to keep your head down. - You do not need to see the ball - the next guy that says you topped that one because you lifted your head you kindly relocate their golf clubs into the nearest dam - For most people I’ve seen the head is the end of a chain of events, usually with ground pressure or the body extending out of the shot due to many causes. - I can guarantee you burying your chin in your chest will never ever ever make you a better golfer and ball striker PERIOD! #justinrose #keeponchippin #myths #advice #sunday #spga See more

24.01.2022 With Dj’s win in Mexico I’m sure it starts people thinking it must be that bowed wrist that compresses the ball. - Well there’s a few other overlooked factors that You’ll have to copy (which I don’t recommend) if you want to hit it like DJ. - 1. He doesn’t have a lot of hand depth coming down into the ball, his hands are moving out towards the ball.... - 2. To combat this and shallow the club he has a lot of Right side bend to shallow the club and stop his path going a long way left. 3. Doing this puts his shoulders on a very vertical angle for a long time which I imagine helps maintain forward shaft lean and not hit everything out of the toe. - 4. This also places a lot of pressure on the lead hip joint hence why his hips push up, then drop back down post impact due to the range of motion in that joint. - Much of this will be hard for the average bunker to physically achieve with any power. Food for thought - #dustinjohnson #keeponchippin #orangensw #tuesday See more

24.01.2022 Bow that lead wrist, it worked for @bkoepka & @djohnsonpga so it should definitely work for you - I’m sure the next golf digest article will feature Brooks key swing traits to win.. but in the end we should know it was his mentally attitude he had for the whole week as well as his low scores & brilliants scrambling that contributed to the W! - Changing one small facet in your swing won’t help your game if it doesn’t match up with other characteristics!

23.01.2022 Sliding in the swing - Most things in golf that you are told are bad are mainly because the average golfer overdoes it takes a thought or movement to the extreme. - A lateral shift by the lower half is done by all players at some point some more than others..it’s just how much and how it affects other aspects of your bodies movement.... - So it’s not don’t slide it’s more slide the correct amount and make sure it’s combined with correct pressure shifts for your swing - #rorymcilroy #sliding #orangensw #monday See more

18.01.2022 With all the buzzwords around golf these days it’s easy to get lost in the Mumbo jumbo & suedo science golf coaches love to use to sound smarter and more technical, Youl know when a coach has just watched a biomechanics video on YouTube from the regurgitation of terms they only learnt 5mins earlier & don’t get me wrong I find myself throwing around terminology like I’m some rocket scientist as well - A pretty common one is the term SHALLOW - I don’t preach many absolutes... but this one I have seen with numerous people as well as tour caliber golfers. - You CAN be shallow with a steep swing plane & you CAN be steep with a shallow shaft plane! - If you or your coach has you working on being SHALLOW make sure you differentiate wether it’s getting the shaft plane shallow (more horizontal) or getting your Angle of attack more shallow. - Don’t get lost in one or the other as a fix for both #keeponchippin #orangensw #wednesday #spga #tip See more

18.01.2022 Shallowing out or getting shallow A common word among teachers and coaches alike. In general terms it is the club shaft going from a more Vertical position and falling Horizontally.. in better players happens quite naturally. It’s a key element in creating speed and consistent contact... With reasonable hand depth you can shallow from just about any position. As always with golf there is more than one way to do it.. I will also post an opposite version of a PGA TOUR player who steepens the shaft and is still one of the top players in the world. cred- Web.com Tour #golfswing #onlinecoaching #orangensw #spga #keeponchippin See more

18.01.2022 3rd Hole: Wentworth GC Orange 165m Zone A: where most players I’ve seen hit. The right bunker is a common miss which leaves a down hill bunker shot and likely bogey or worse. Zone B: the back 1/3 of the green, where you should club too. Long right leaves a better angle and green to work with a front pin, centre pin & easier bump n run or Texas wedge to a back pin, long left yields an uphill pitch or bump n run.... play a longer club ( holster your ego) make more pars & possible birdies #birdies #coursemanagement #strategy #coursestrategy See more

17.01.2022 Finaly hole at @theplayerschamp this week, Roughly 420m+ depending on tee location. what’s your ur shot shape and start line??? Ideally a low draw would be my advice to any player! - Your start line isn’t over water and the low flight is to eliminate a wind gust ruining a good shot, keep it in play hit the green for two and sign that scorecard baby. - A fade is obviously the hardest shot, if your a long hitter bringing water into play... A drive that would end up on the fairway at many courses can be swimming on this hole, which is why it is so good! One of the best finishing stretches in golf! If I was actually there playing this hole I used to have a go to heel cut that would always fade no matter what, I’d lose about 30m carry on the contact but could knock one right and stay short of the trees, tee it down, set up on the heel and swing hard to get the spin rate up but flight low so it wouldn’t run (in theory) #coursestrategy #tpcsawgrass #playerschampionship See more

14.01.2022 With the @pgatour season kicking off again this week.. odds are who ever wins one or many golf commentators will point out something technical and claim as that’s why they won this week. here’s a quick comparison between Justin Thomas and Sergio focused on lead arm and relation to the shaft. As you can see there is big differences purely by looking at the yellow lines and having zero golf knowledge...now the moves they do in their swings are compensations for ...angles created, face and shaft position and lots of other mumbo jumbo you don’t need to know. The person who will know is your coach... as much as you don’t want to pay for one due to the flood of free content out there or think you’ve got the knowledge remember it may not suit you and what you do in your swing!!!!! A good coach will be able to gauge your personality deliver what is needed and know if your someone who needs a lot of technical advice or maybe just a slight concept tweak or the million other different ways there are to achieve a better result for you. Most players could do nothing technical and just learn how to score with what they have and shoot lower. So if DJ wins don’t run outside and bow your wrist and expect to be hitting it as good as him. Every tour pro is unique as are you, instead of copying things talk to a coach and discuss your patterns and get answers that are right for you... put simply use a coach and become better! #coach #spga #keeponchippin #orangensw #thursday

14.01.2022 Forward Press: Putting If you putt reverse handed like me or just forward press in general it’s handy to know what happens during that motion putter de-lofts affecting roll... face can open or close (usually open) stroke direction can change strike can be high/low on the face descending strike can cause ball to bobble start with your hands slightly behind the ball so your forward press doesn’t add dramatic affect to your putts. get fitted for a putter loft and lie that suits your forward press Practice your start line/ gate drills aswell as distance control to see if your forward press is affecting your performance. #putting #forwardpress #keeponchippin #orangensw #spga #tip #tuesday

13.01.2022 Secret of the Pros The visual scan zone Taught to only a rare few.. like the greats David Duval & Annika Sorenstam.... Created by flight Engineer Uri Megchenko.. based on technology used by fighter jets the idea is too scan ahead along your target line and adjust to any variables that may affect ball flight in 0.127 of a second. Hard to learn but deadly on accuracy. Morale of the story anything can be a tip and tips are a portion of advice... any tip should make you want to engage with that coach to see if that philosophy or technique will help your shoot lower scores. If being self taught isn’t working for you it may not be that you don’t have the knowledge, it’s knowing how to apply it to your game if at all.. don’t spend years heading down the wrong track.. this is social media after all.. be social and communicate.. and the only magic move I’ve seen is a pencil that writes down lower scores #keeponchippin #advice #orangensw #friday #orangensw See more

13.01.2022 On the down swing transition...pressure should move from your trail heel into your lead heel..to help pivot pushing off the ground with the lead leg moving it from flexed to straightened often leads to the lead foot spinning open or even coming off the ground.. not a bad thing just means your maximising ground force reaction also helps to flare the feet if you have poor ankle mobility to help this process Player: @gary.woodland #keeponchippin #orangensw #spga #orangensw

12.01.2022 Genesis Open Winner J.B Holmes I love players who don’t have textbook swings and JB certainly isn’t the norm. Fundamentals are something usually preached by coaches and I’m sure I have to many players before.. but they aren’t always a necessary element... If JB sent you his swing the first thing people would think is his alignment is mismatched, he takes it way inside and has to come upright then drive the right elbow to shallow into the ball (as it appears, his move may feel totally different to that) - Yes fundamentals are usually taught to beginners or players who have no control of contact or ball start line/direction but in the end it’s what the ball does in golf and sometimes a non- fundamental swing can take the chocolates as it did this week! 11.01.2022 Casting isn’t a fault.. it’s usually a symptom/effect of poor or no body movement and rotation. - You try and hold your top of backswing wrist angle position or lag and you are set for plenty of problems and lack of speed at the ball. - #tigerwoods #keeponchippin #orangensw #sunday

11.01.2022 Really interesting podcast cast on Golf why Golf pros don’t make it by @golfsciencelab So many things from it i relate to and many pros can relate too. - As kids we used to go straight from school to the golf club and muck around playing games and mini comps till dark.. we gained skill without even trying.. during those days we had one of the strongest junior golf groups in the area with over 6+ going on to become professional. -... Back then we had no phones or video cameras so our coaches had limited resources to make swing changes and basically everyone learnt how to play the game by getting on the course day after day... my swing was technically poor but it’s probably the best golf I played. - It was a team environment, as golfers we went on trips together practiced together, tried to beat each other... when we reached Professional ranks most moved to solo practice and all fell into the trap of thinking we needed big swing changes to compete instead of sticking with what got us there and learning mental strategies to compete. - Most Pro’s who don’t play on tour barely play at all or have an inherent hate for the game even though continuing to work in the industry. - This year I’ll be altering a lot of my teaching practices to getting back to team based competitive environment.. where learning to play well can be fun aswell as challenging.. if you look at the boom of things like CrossFit, group exercise and strong numbers in team sports.. golf has a reputation of getting stuck in old ways because let’s be honest it’s run by old people and takes along time to adapt. - Much like many tour pros In my very brief part time playing career I didn’t enjoy tournament golf, and though it took me to beautiful overseas locations the first thing I wanted to do was not play and just go home. - Playing on Tour costs a bucket load and sponsors (if your lucky to get any)often just add pressure to performance and often change personalities so the Tour world becomes a bunch robots, swinging like robots, trying to beat other robots... to me tour golf was sorta fun when u had good company and managed a cheque.. other then that get me home ASAP! 11.01.2022 Focus on what u can realistically improve to play better. - If your watching the @wgcmexico event and drooling over the guys hitting 300+ yard irons (at high altitude) and thinking how much better it would be if you could do that. - Most don’t have the time, physical capabilities, and skill to ever hit these shots... - Things you can improve: shortgame, mindset and strategy - I’ve played with hundreds of golfers who rarely aim, don’t pick a target, just hope it goes straight and most of the time it doesn’t.....have a plan, shot shape & strategy for those hard holes you struggle on and you can play better with no technique change! 11.01.2022 Pic 1: shows a general dispersion pattern of 40m total (20m left or right of intended target line) And why your target line (green) should incorporate the possibility of where you can hit a bad shot and not be reloading! Pic 2: SWIPE... Shows if you have an aggressive target line (green) there can be the possibility of a straight/ slightly off target shot to go in the hazard. This is a generalised view of what you need to consider when playing risk/ reward holes that have hazards or OB’s on them. 07.01.2022 The reason most golfers never improve is often the perception of the tonnes of info we get thrown at us everyday. - Posts, tips, 6 keys to blah blah, secret move, abs of steel, Hogan’s secret, Tigers magical swing... the list goes on. - Golf magazines, YouTube channels, insta influencers are all businesses and are selling you something or dangling a carrot to lure you in. Which is fine that’s what they are there to do (make money...from client successes to new advise I’d be ...living in denial if part me isn’t looking for validation through likes or something posted for own selfish reasons... and if you can’t admit that yourself you may be just as phoney as the other millions of users out there. - From juiced to the gills@fitness models pushing protein to booty workouts from girls who are just looking for the love they never got (yes you have a great ass I get it) ... it’s easy to get lost in the latest craze, cure or crap. - I’ve always had a hatred of marketing or any sales because there’s a level of tricking someone into buying something they may not need, may be why I’m not the big coach I thought I’d be - Most golfers get lost in 1000’s of different theories because there is so much info and don’t know what is actually needed to apply to your game to improve. - The morale of the story is see an article, post or video.. take it with a grain of salt, maybe converse with the person to delve further and see if it may apply to you, if they have your best interests in mind not just a sales pitch. - Eventually I’d like to coach for free so when you turn up sprouting what u just read in golf digest I can kindly show you the door and point you in the direction of a bowling club instead of signing you up for a package deal, knowing you’ll never practice - Morale of the story, get something personalised for you or be another hamster in the wheel.. your choice - Share, like this post & subscribe to my YouTube channel (yes I’m kidding) - #keeponchippin #tuesday #orangensw See more

Breaking down today’s Christmas swing in simple terms Firstly I used my third cumulative force vector centrifuged twice forwards before a backwards internal rotation externally. The centre pivot zone (red box) must maintain the piston factor Z=px Anti adapter whilst the highest rotational rotator pivot at the highest point (yellow circle) must maintain a force pulse under 7 degrees annually only if the 11 zextor forces ( green arrows) are pushed atmost exac...tly extracting force outwards at the same explosion point J14... during this outward centrifuge you must complete dilation through force management collaterally twice! 06.01.2022 Golf coaching isn’t like many sports where a certain technique is vital... it’s not telling a player how to do something 1 way.. IMO it’s helping a player find out how they can best control what the ball does consistently. I teach fundamentals to a fresh canvas for the easiest way to minimise possible mistakes.. but if you can control the ball and know where it’s going to your maximum potential then we go to the course.. it’s scoring time!!! With the amount of content we ...get bombarded with it’s easy to get lost in discovering that little tweak thats going to make your a ball striking wizard.. but don’t forget the only gauge of your game is the numbers on the score card Kuch aims right and hits pull/pull fades...would I teach it to a beginner probably not... does it work.. you betcha Lowest score wins! #mattkuchar #golfswing #keeponchippin #orangensw #wednesday

04.01.2022 Callaway Golf South Pacific EPIC FLASH SUBZERO VS GBB EPIC SUBZERO Firstly I am not sponsored (who knows why not) so I consider myself to not be biased as my current clubs consist of Callaway driver wedges & Putter ,Taylormade 3w, 3ir & Mizuno 4-pw. SWIPE ACROSS FOR Golf Star Academy data on both clubs.... Specs: GBB EPIC SUBZERO 9.0 EPIC FLASH SUBZERO 9.0 Shaft: HZRDUS YELLOW HANDCRAFTED Custom flex 6.5 63g (pured) Driver looks great slightly different detail and paintwork but if you used the old Epic it’s not too different to look at. Head over is different but who really cares. Different sound which I initially didn’t like but do get used too, I prefer the deeper quieter thud of the old EPIC but you could customise the head to dull it a little. Distance: this club is hot much like the original EPIC the ball just flies off the face even on miss hits, I absolutely smoked one that carried over 300m that actually spun 3250 but still carried a mile. My bad shot is a heel strike and they just don’t balloon like you’d expect so on a windy day you can still get away with it. I averaged 15m further carry granted with an extra 2mph speed but still I’ll take 15 all day. clubhead speed was up 2mph, which was mainly because...and I’m not sure of the specs but the Flash felt lighter even with my usual shaft, wether there’s any aerodynamics behind it I couldn’t say. carry: longest was 303m with the Flash and 295m with GBB EPIC.. both total longest shots were fairly close at 318m & 319m so on maxed out shots not a great difference..but on average the Flash was consistently longer in carry. overall I think my next pay check will be going to a new Flash, I’m yet to try the new Taylormade but I don’t really want to fork out for a new shaft but I will test them with available shafts. The price is up there at $749 retail but most people who will complain about that are rich or spend $300 a night at the pub. As with all clubs try them out for yourself @tb.golf Has some fitting days coming up you’d be silly not to have a go.. for me it’s an easy transition into a fresh bit of kit. @ Samuel Phillips Golf Academy

03.01.2022 Most important part of putting IMO - Pace. (Speed control) - The speed of the putt is correlated to your green reading, distance control & start line.... - Know your style wether firm, medium or just dropping it in the edge of the cup, this will dictate your read on breaking putts. - Ensure you practice speed and a key element to being consistent at that is consistent contact so you can know how far your ball will roll. Pick your line based on the speed you intend to hit the putt, a slower rolling ball can break more - #putting #keeponchippin #orangensw See more

01.01.2022 Maximise your drives through low point control Your driver low point should be before the ball.. measurable on @trackmanaust launch monitors,if you don’t have a high club head speed you need to be hitting up to maximise your launch conditions Green Line = where Rory’s low point is Red Line = where most average players downward strike low point is well after the ball.. the ball launches too low and often too much spin costing you valuable distance... and carry! Someone like Rory who isn’t a big man maximises his high club speed with an upward strike to hit over 300yds consistently! specially for you golfers who can only hit their 3 wood off the tee Don’t blame the 6 drivers you get a year....get that low point before the ball and reach your driving potential. It’s the easiest club in the bag to hit don’t make it the hardest #orangensw #keeponchippin #rorymcilroy #launchit #spga
