03.01.2022 A re-elected McGowan Labor Government will invest $200,000 in the Canning River at Thornlie’s Homestead Park so locals can better enjoy this key environmental a...sset. The project will protect the environmental value of the river and make it more accessible with new walk trails, boardwalks, seating and interactive signage. Biodiversity values will be re-established through the planting of 20,000 seedlings along the river foreshore. Importantly, this will improve water quality, and protect against erosion and sedimentation. These upgrades will bring people closer to the Canning River at Homestead Park while being respectful of the natural environment.
