23.01.2022 ONLINE CHIP PROGRAM NOV 16 INTAKE Are you needing a change to your lifestyle to improve your health? Have you struggled to be consistent, or find the motivation to change? Do you have chronic health problems like diabetes or heart disease, or are you at risk of a chronic disease due to family history, high blood pressure, obesity, poor lifestyle choices etc? Sometimes you need a hand to make the right choices and get your life back on track. ... The Complete Health Improvement Program (CHIP) is one of the best ways I know how to do this and I thoroughly recommend this program. It has over 40 peer reviewed scientific papers written about it in the medical literature showing that it works to prevent, arrest and sometimes reverse chronic diseases. There is a new intake for an online CHIP program on November 16. If you are interested, consider registering at: https://chiphealth.com.au/

23.01.2022 NEW PATIENT APPOINTMENTS - NOT AVAILABLE ONLINE Dr Pennington currently has a 6+ week wait list for new patient appointments. We have had to limit the new appointments with him in order to be able to continue to serve the existing patients. To assist this, we have disabled online appointments for new patients. You may ONLY book a new patient appointment by calling our receptionist on 1300 723 070.... Claire Marsh, our psychologist, has closed her books presently for new patients/clients. This will be reviewed periodically to see if she may reopen again. Your name may be placed on a wait list if you wish to see her and we can advise you when she is in a position to see new patients. We are sorry for the inconvenience and thank you for your understanding.

22.01.2022 Extra Phone Number: 02 8203 5920 - please put in your phone. As Sanctuary Clinic has a 1300 number, in the past when we phoned you, our patients, about appointments or medical matters, it came up as a private number/no caller ID. For some of you, this was a problem as you chose not to answer these numbers (understandably). This sometimes would lead to repeated back and forward phone calls and delays in communication which could be frustrating for you and our staff alike. Tha...nks to our IT guru Scott, we have just managed to get a new phone number that is now displayed on outgoing phone calls from our clinic which is: 02 8203 5920 If you are a patient of our clinic, please put this number in your mobile phone so you know that it is us calling you when it comes up. You may also call us on this number as well if you prefer not to use the 1300 723 070, which saves money for both you and our clinic, but of course you may still use the 1300 number if you prefer. Thanks for your understanding and hopefully this makes life easier for everyone.

21.01.2022 FAREWELL Last week we said goodbye, very regretfully, to Rachelle our wonderful nurse on Mon and Thurs. Rachelle has been a wonderful addition to our practice for over 12 mths now but unfortunately had to move away for family reasons. ... I know many patients had positive interactions with her and will be sad to see her go. Thank you also for your patience as we look to recruit a replacement nurse (big shoes to fill!) We may have less availability for services involving our nurses as Helen our other wonderful nurse only works one day per week. We wish Rachelle all the very best in her new chapter in life and career.

20.01.2022 Today I had a spare moment and decided it was time to get back into donating blood. It has been 5 years since my last donation and I had struggled to prioritise time to get back there. Big shout out to Hunter Street Red Cross Donation centre in the city: https://www.facebook.com/dialog/share... who were awesome. Was such a pleasure to deal with their staff. If you have time and are eligible, perhaps you could consider donating blood? It is such an important service that the Red Cross provides and has saved countless lives.

03.01.2022 MENSTRUAL CYCLE AS A VITAL SIGN OF HEALTH An increasing body of evidence is suggesting that healthy menstrual cycles for women give an insight into their general health. In this recent study in the BMJ, it suggests some modest increased risk of mortality in women with irregular and abnormal menstrual cycles. ... https://medicinetoday.com.au//menstrual-cycle-characterist Fortunately there are good treatments available including good lifestyle and natural therapies to assist women who are suffering with irregular, painful or heavy periods. I regularly recommend to my lovely female patients Dr Lara Briden’s excellent peer reviewed and evidence based book called the Period Repair Manual which gives a fantastic overview of period health and explains many natural ways to assist your period health. If you need some assistance in helping manage irregular, painful or heavy periods, this book would be a great start, and if you need further assistance come in for a consult and we can begin the repair journey. You don’t need to suffer any longer. https://www.larabriden.com/period-repair-manual/

02.01.2022 SNEAK PEAK AT THE NEW OFFICE? Here is a quick tour of the new office we are moving to, currently under construction. Hope you like it!

01.01.2022 VITAMIN D REALLY HELPS COVID19 Check out this very promising small randomised study showing the significant improvement in patients with COVID19 who were treated with VitD compared with placebo. It almost eliminated the need for ICU admission, and significantly assisted recovery. Where do we get VitD naturally from? We need sunlight to convert it from inactive to active in our skin. So don't forget to get adequate sunlight (without getting sunburnt) or consider a VitD supple...ment if you have an indoors occupation or have dark skin or are otherwise at risk of low VitD. The evidence of benefit of VitD in general is getting harder to ignore and it is such a simple intervention that should be rolled out in our hospitals as it will save lives and cost. https://www.sciencedirect.com//arti/pii/S0960076020302764
