14.01.2022 Our beautiful new deck is recycling in action - crafted from recycled railway sleepers. If you look closely you can see how our centre is only one small aspect of this timber’s story. This Australian Ironbark has travelled our country over hundreds of years serving many purposes along the way. Our preschoolers can delight in finding special markings from where these railway sleepers held tracks in place and in special spots even markings from the trains that travelled over ...them. The timber was rough milled in QLD by The Railway Sleeper Co who make all kinds of beautiful things out of recycled timber just like ours! While providing a space for us to play and learn the deck will also offer us the opportunity to learn about how to maintain timber and appreciate the beauty of something we watched get built right here in our playground - our deck will need oiling, washing and hosing to stay healthy and functional. Thanks to Ironstone landscape constructions for combining their skills and knowledge with our vision and also for answering lots of big questions asked by a very eager audience. We look forward to planning our next project and cannot wait to hear your thoughts on this addition to our play space.
