24.01.2022 Covid-19 Virus Update For those of us in Australia, the next few months over winter are going to be an uncertain time as those of you outside of Australia have already experienced. However, as we look to countries such as China and South Korea that were the first hit, we can see that they are now are on the other side of it and conditions are improving. As Australia is a few months behind and the worst is in front of us, then the best advice for all of us is to stay at home.... Clearly that’s not a great business model for Sanctuary but rest assured that while we are all staying at home, we at Sanctuary will do our best to remain open, with a small team, and during quiet times we will be working hard to renovate and refresh Sanctuary as you know it. From exterior painting of the Canopy Cabins to complete makeovers of the Rainforest Huts with more exterior bathrooms as well. Along with a new menu makeover but we’ll still be keeping those Sanctuary favorites. For those of you that have already paid non-refundable deposits for hosted retreats up and until to 01 September 2020, then we will refund those monies in full if you wish to cancel. For those of you who have booked independent stays to the same date, then re-confirm with us 2 weeks before. We’re doing this because we are completely confident that this epidemic will pass and that you will once again (maybe, more than ever) want to explore the beauty of this tropical paradise. We look forward to welcoming you again and wish you all the best in the next few months of uncertainty remembering that change is the only constant From all of us here at Sanctuary Retreat

Some scientists believe that the Cassowary’s casque (the helmet-like structure on it's head) helps it to produce these booming sounds, and that dinosaurs with similar structures may have communicated with low booming calls in the same way.
