24.01.2022 Official College Blessing and Opening Liturgy On 4 June, San Damiano College celebrated our official opening liturgy and blessing of our stage 1 buildings. We were fortunate to have His Grace, Archbishop Mark Coleridge bless our school. We were also grateful to have at our official College Opening Pam Betts - Exective Director of Brisbane Catholic Education, Linus Power MP - Labour Member for Logan, Father Mickhael Loke SVD, Father Stephen Bliss OFM, Cr Laurie Koranski - Div...ision 4 Logan City Council, Patrick O'Sullivan - Director of Brisbane Catholic Education, Stephany Yang - Archdiocesan Development Fund and Yvonne Ries - Queensland Catholic Education Commission. Special guests were invited on a tour of the school lead by our students, followed by the official ceremony and blessing of the grounds. Students, staff and guests continued the celebration with morning tea, light refreshments and a special cake to celebrate. We were blessed to have the Carmel College seniors in attendance. After morning tea, the seniors ran activities for our students, based on our San Damiano values of Community, Respect, Resilience and Service to Others. It was a wonderful day, enjoyed by all in attendance as we came together as One In Love. All College staff and students have felt greatly enriched by the experience. The special day has helped strengthen and establish our new but thriving community. We Are One In Love.

24.01.2022 "In the silence of the empty tomb, is His light and our hope" - Yesterday we had our Easter Liturgy, reflecting on the Stations of the Cross and celebrating the resurrection of Jesus. A group of year 7 students joined together throughout term one to rehearse and prepare their performance play for this special liturgy.

23.01.2022 Yesterday we held our first Cross Country event. Students participated in a 3km run, followed by an Interhouse Tug of War competition. Rieti house won the day, smashing the other teams by a whopping 20 points. Congratulations Rieti!

21.01.2022 San Damiano College is proud to be able to introduce the Bonaventure Study Group, which will operate in the college library every Monday, Wednesday, and Thursday from 3pm to 4pm, starting from next Monday (24th May). This will be a great opportunity for students to work on their assessments with the support of their teachers, which have generously offered their time for this program.

Fear not, for like the ugly duckling who turned into a beautiful swan in the Hans Christian Andersen fairytale, that muddy pond will soon transform into a beautiful lake. This lakeside santuary will provide our future students an oasis for outdoor lessons in a true Franciscan-style setting surrounded by lush gardens reminiscent of the town in Assisi, Italy, home to the original San Damiano Chapel. Soft furnishings and furniture at various height levels will allow our students to stand, sit, work around a shared table with writeable desktops, move between stations, work independently and collaborate in booths. 07.01.2022 Today we celebrate Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander Sunday and the theme: ‘Together in the Spirit’. However, the COVID-19 pandemic has forced the National Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander Catholic Council (NATSICC) to rethink ways in how we empower Catholics to mark this special day. NATSICC has gone digital, hosting the first ever livestreamed Mass from St Francis Xavier’s Cathedral in Adelaide. 05.01.2022 On 22 April, teams of students participated in our first Interhouse Pavement Art Competition. This competition is an opportunity for students to display their artistic and creative talents using chalk. The theme this year was "No time to waste" which aligned with Earth Week. All students who participated did an amazing job designing and creating these colourful pavement artworks. Congratulations to the winning team: Perugia!
