19.01.2022 This year, Sand and Stories set out to create connections beyond borders. With Mission: NamPossible, we collaborated to share this message of unity through building bonds that may not be visible, but are certainly felt. We set up a gift drive where our children from Sand and Stories were partnered up with a child who has been and continues to be supported by Mission: NamPossible for many years. Our children got to know their partner through images and stories. From here, ...our children led the way in creating personalised cards so that the gifts that they donated were accompanied by messages of friendship, and drawings especially for their partner in Vietnam. Our children took it a step further in also making Friendship Bracelets for their partner to symbolise that someone from another part of the world is thinking of them, with the hope that this brings comfort and joy. This was such a rich experience, where our children learnt about the importance of making cross-cultural connections by bringing in the human element of getting to see and understand another person, and how kindness is universal. Thank you to Anna Papoutsakis for the work you do and for partnering with our community to spread the spirit of giving.

07.01.2022 Our commemoration of ANZAC Day is led by the children, their understanding and encouraging their connection to their world. This Anzac Day the children were curious about what bravery meant to them. These medals they created reflect their understanding of the word. "The soldiers were brave. They were very scared to go far away from their house. Did you know that their family cooked them lots of Anzac biscuits to make them happy?" - J, 4 years. "Im brave because I sleep w...ithout a light on now and I dont use a floatie when I swim"- S, 3 years. - Lest we forget.

03.01.2022 Every Child Deserves the Right to Adequate Medical Care. Our goal is to raise $5000 for the Lao Friends Hospital for Children. We are fundraising towards a project very close to the Sand and Stories Family, The Lao Friends Hospital for Children. One the fathers in our community is working on site to deliver equip, train staff and maintain the Emergency Room and the Paediatric Intensive Care Unit. ... The children that are being treated at this hospital are experiencing preventable deaths due to a lack of basic resources such as ventilators, that we find standard in the hospital care we receive in Australia. We are fundraising for Baby Koa. Koa is a name given by the children of Sand and Stories, to mean brave, bold and fearless. These are the qualities that the doctors, families and children share in their experience at the Lao Friends Hospital for Children. Koa is a medical manikin that is vital in the training of doctors in paediatric care. Please give generously to this important cause and help our Lao Friends give the children of Laos a brighter tomorrow.

Made extra special sharing it with our @sandandstories family It was a delight seeing the childrens faces as they saw their much-loved Eric Carle stories come to life! 03.01.2022 Grateful for our Sand and Stories Community! Thank you to Dr Setthy Ung for sharing your insight and expertise into childrens health. During this evening, our families engaged in a forum where Dr Ung, who is an emergency paediatric physician as well as a father at S&S, shared information on common childhood illnesses and best practice responses to these illnesses. As parents, and educators, we walked out feeling equipped to be proactive in responding to our childrens health and wellbeing. Thank you for helping us to start the Winter off on the right foot.#sandandstories
