21.01.2022 Hi everyone! We know it has been wet lately however we have been watching the weather closely and will be continuing with our games tonight. We expect some light rain but this will not impact our ability to play volleyball. Friendly reminder that we do not have an undercover area available close by so please remember to bring an umbrella. At 4pm we will check the courts and will update the teams if we decide to cancel tonight's games. We look forward to seeing everyone!

21.01.2022 On Saturday 28th October we hosted a lovely Xmas party for SARA GALE FITNESS. If ever I have seen a business where the personality and enthusiasm of the owner is reflected in the staff and customers this is it!! Well done all.

20.01.2022 I remember the day, When we all used to play............. Well there is finally some clarity about when we can resume!! For community sports with more than 20 participants in Queensland it has been notified that we can RESUME ON FRIDAY 10 JULY 2020. Our first activity will be a private function booked for that day, but we will hold our REOPENING VOLLEYBALL DAY ON SUNDAY 12 JULY. It will be free for players to have a casual hit to feel the sand between their toes, FROM 3PM. ... THE BAR WILL BE OPEN. I anticipate to liaise in the week before, and the following week, with all teams to plan the RESUMPTION OF COMPETITION ON MONDAY 20 JULY. Please spread the word!!

20.01.2022 Competition games resume TONIGHT MONDAY 13th - 16 weeks since the closure due to coronavirus. Wahoo!! On Saturday we hosted a wonderful function in honour of the healthcare sector, for the sterling work they did during the shutdown. We had wonderful support from the Torres Strait Islander community in catering for it, with a traditional Kup-mari, food steamed with hot rocks in the ground. Thanks to everybody who attended and helped to make it such a fun day, as a "return to business" for us.

17.01.2022 We are looking for a referee/umpire for our Monday and Wednesday night games! If you, or someone you know, is interested then please send us message! The position will be up to 4 games each for Monday and Wednesday nights from 5.30 pm until 8.30pm.

16.01.2022 CORONAVIRUS COMMENTARY TO PLAYERS SAND CITY BEACH VOLLEYBALL We are not health experts so don’t give advice but wish to put elements of our sport in context, with some recommendations:-... Beach volleyball is an outdoor sport with minimal physical contact between players, very different from football, basketball, martial arts etc. 2. Social and sporting pursuits are an essential part of our Australian life so it is important that we should maintain them when it is safe to do so. 3. To minimise risk of transmission of coronavirus in our environment we ask that you:- do not attend if you are feeling unwell limit intentional human touching contact practise a fake shake after the game rather than the customary handshake with opposition and umpire observe normal courtesies of good personal hygiene Of course every player must make a personal decision as to how they conduct their sporting and social activities. 15.01.2022 We are CLOSED TO ALL VOLLEYBALL GAMES AND ALSO SOCIAL FUNCTIONS - 25/3/20 The coronavirus and restrictions placed on businesses make it impossible for us to continue trading forthwith. We regret this decision but it is forced on us by the concern we must all take for the well-being of everybody. Thank you for being loyal supporters. We hope to be able to reopen on MONDAY 29 JUNE. A true date will be determined by Government regulations and the hopeful regression of the di...sease. I need to shut down fridges and to do so will SELL AT COST the contents of my LIQUOR FRIDGE AND DRINKS FRIDGE, in takeaway quantities of a dozen cans or bottles. Please take advantage of this offer to reduce the temptation for me to drink it myself. Premises will be open today and Thursday 11-6pm, Friday 10am - 4pm. We are only hiring the courts at JCU, we will provide some seating however we will not be able to run a canteen as of yet, but don't worry, we are working to get a food van up and running! ... 09.01.2022 As for the past number of years we hosted the annual birthday for the JLUNQ unit. They are a welcome group and enjoyed as always their celebrations on a beautiful Townsville afternoon. A game of volleyball, a few beers, good mates, a catered meal... What more could you want??

09.01.2022 North Queensland Games will be held in Townsville next year Easter, 10-13 April. To include beach volleyball I welcome suggestions from our players re grades, tournament formats etc. Speak to me this week if you are interested to make input and we will set up a meeting. Dick Moody

08.01.2022 The NORTH QUEENSLAND GAMES, scheduled for Townsville at Easter, have been cancelled due to corona virus advice. The beach volleyball event in Townsville will not be held until a further date is scheduled to fit in with the other Great Barrier Reef tournaments scheduled - Rockhampton 12-13-14 June, Mackay 24-25-26 July, and Cairns 4-5-6 September.

06.01.2022 Hi everyone! We have decided to move Pair's (Thursday nights) temporarily to Wednesday nights along side the Social 6's games. This comes as there is not enough pair's teams to afford hiring the JCU courts for Thursday. This is only temporary until more teams nominate. 05.01.2022 On Saturday night we hosted the Fiji Association of Townsville in holding their Xmas party. They are always a happy group with lots of music, singing, dancing. Plenty of food of course with a lovo (hangi equivalent).

03.01.2022 We have come to an agreement to hire the James Cook University beach volleyball courts for temporary games until the new venue is ready! We can begin games starting next week so please make sure to nominate your teams. Same nights and same game times! ... We are working to fix any glitches, particularly with mobile users, so please provide us feedback so we may touch up any mistakes. We look forward to seeing everybody back on the sand soon!!!

03.01.2022 It's always fun for us to host a birthday party. This is one involving the Filipino community, with plenty of special food including a pig on the spit. Everybody joined in for badminton, volleyball, and of course the karaoke. Happy birthday Eluiza!!

01.01.2022 Games are ON AS SCHEDULED tonight Monday 27 Jan. No rain all day, although the possibility still remains that we might get a shower.

01.01.2022 Which ball to hit?? New moon, or a moon ball? New development for the new season, starting Monday 28 October. Pairs on Thursday nights will include a grade for developing players pairing with an experienced mentor. The "mentee" pays normal game fee, but the mentor plays free if they are playing in Division 1 or 2 pairs as well. What about a new name for the new grade? How about MINTIES? Any new applicants let me know, we already have about 6 teams so will cut it off with a maximum of 10.
