25.01.2022 Having a ball working with Luna! She has come so far since I started working with her in February. She has just come back into work last week after a 3 week paddock freshen up and she has soaked up everything we worked on before that so well! Looking forward to some outings with her in the coming weeks

24.01.2022 For most this won't seem like much but for this mare this is a huge improvement! 4 weeks ago she would find any way to get out of standing, she would power walk, rush everywhere - she was in total fast forward mode 24/7. I had started riding her again (after she had 5 weeks starting under saddle nearly 3 years ago) but wasn't happy with how she was going. We took it back to basics and cemented in the stand, steady and walk voice commands on long lines for two weeks. ... Last week I got on her again and we put all that training to work in saddle, again she made mistakes but I allowed these mistakes, and again I would only fix them after the mistake had been made - giving her the opportunity to process and try a different answer. It all started to click. On friday we left the round yard, on Monday we didn't even start in the round yard (straight to the open paddock), yesterday we cantered for the first time and today we hoped straight on without any long line warm up! I've found patience I never knew I had while working with Luna and now I look forward to every ride because I know it's only up from here! Slow and steady wins the race!

23.01.2022 Happy 2nd birthday to my beautiful Gigi Growing into such a strong confident girl!

23.01.2022 For all the good mares out there

21.01.2022 Luna - Esperance Ode 2nd place - Open 45 Thank you Jase Park Performance Horses for the lovely photos

18.01.2022 Very excited to share these pictures! After months of chipping away at the fencing with my cute little offsider, this morning I got my first ride in my new 70 x 60m arena! I have also finished my 4 smaller paddocks and my feed/tack room is now done - bar some small final touches to be made - will have to post pictures once they have been completed! Feeling like I'm getting some real progress out here in the last 8 months.... I'm now 1 week off half way through this pregnancy so I'll be looking forward to less strenuous projects for a bit!

17.01.2022 Eec Spring Show Jumping Great weekend with both horses having great rounds Lenny finished up with Res Champion Senior Horse and Rider combination. This was Lens first and only competition for the year so it was great to have him jumping so well. We had big plans for competing in Perth this year but unfortunately covid put a halt to that ... Luna had a ball all weekend and was so consistent! A rail in the jump off for both her Am7 rounds Saturday morning but not a single rail in the following 6 rounds! She has really come to understand why we are going over and not around and I think it's safe to say she is even enjoying it! Eec Grand Prix to come with Luna in October and hopefully the EEC October Hacking show to finish off her first competition season

15.01.2022 Time for another Luna update! We started pole work on Tuesday and today popped over her first little jump

15.01.2022 Happy 2nd birthday to this not so little spunk! Now that mum Luna is in work and proving herself to be a very handy pony as well, it only makes me more excited to start Cosmo in another 18 months or so!

14.01.2022 Happy 3rd birthday to my sweet first born! Can not wait to start him under saddle next year!

13.01.2022 Luna out in her last jumping comp for the year! We had a great day on Sunday competing in the EEC Grand Prix, stepping up to 65cm and coming home mid field, just 3 seconds from optimum time and two green rails in our first round before going double clear in our second round! She grows in confidence with every outing! We have one more show - EEC Dressage and Show horse weekend - at the end of October before she heads out for a well deserved spell and I head into maternity leave from riding with baby number 2 on the way

12.01.2022 The three Amigos - Chaos, Gigi and Cosmo - enjoying the sunshine and spring feed

09.01.2022 Weaning time! Lacey put on her big girl pants this week and said goodbye to Mum! Both girls are in having a week of handling and training before heading back out to their paddock with Uncle Kenny as disciplinary officer ;) Today was both their first time hard tying and they both understood it well!

07.01.2022 Today I said goodbye to my beautiful Effie however this was made much easier for the fact she is going to a fantastic home and staying local, so I'll get to see her taking her next rider on top of her wings and forming another amazing partnership

07.01.2022 It's been a while between posts while we've been talking our time settling in as a family of 4 Master Alec joined us on the 18th of March and for now we haven't managed much more than visits to the horses but hopefully in the next week I can find some time back in the saddle Goal for this year is starting my first home bred - Chaos, pictured here chatting to Alec

06.01.2022 Albany Grand Prix Cumbria Park Tranquillity 2nd place Open 45cm

05.01.2022 And that's a wrap for our 2020 season! We had a lovely weekend at the EEC Dressage and Hacking Show with Luna and Chaos. Chaos got some more experience in the in-hand classes and behaved super, such a sweet 3 year old! ... Luna had a busy weekend competing in in-hand, dressage and Hunter classes. We came away with Champion Handler and High Points Champion for Prelim dressage! Even receiving two 9's for her 1b dressage test on Sunday! Not bad for 9 months broken in! And with that I will be hanging up my helmet until after we meet the next little Sanderson in March

04.01.2022 Headed off to Albany yesterday for a week long horse holiday with Luna while John does his pilots licence! Luna travelled super and today we went off to the AHA Showjumping day for her first ever ridden comp! She also experienced her first time indoors and first time seeing jump fill! Slow and steady first round and then tried a bit of speed in the last. I'm stoked with how well she handled it all and how much confidence she gained by the last round. Day off tomorrow before 3 days of Louise Hillman Lessons!

04.01.2022 The smile in the first picture says it all! Luna gave me her absolute all in her first ever dressage test! Held it together so well to actually be leading after it! A scary looking dazzle board on the outside of the show jumping arena resulted in an unfortunate run out in her sj round, but once she realised it wasn't going to eat her she popped over the jump and continued on with a lovely round - really starting to find some rhythm! ... Tomorrow will be a big ask for her but we'll do our best and aim for a positive experience for her

03.01.2022 The Lovely Luna I had absolutely no faith in us making it across this finish line today but Luna sure did prove me wrong! She gave me her all - all weekend and has gained so much confidence while doing it! ... We took our time - racking up a whole heap of time penalties but she really started to find confidence in herself, only having to re-approach one jump, something that she generally has to do with every new jump! Incredible to think how far she has come in the last 5 months since she was started under saddle, I am so excited to keep working with her and seeing just how far she can go!

01.01.2022 Adulting can be really hard at times... With baby number 2 on the way as well as two ridden horses and several young stock coming through over the next few years I have had to make the tough decision to find my beautiful mare Effie her next student.. https://www.cavalletti.com.au//safe-reliable-and-experien/

01.01.2022 A successful day out at the EEC Breed Show yesterday! GNT Lunar Opal bringing home Champion Inhand Stallion and Champion Ridden Stallion (though we were the only ridden stallion ;) ) Cumbria Park Tranquility (Luna) had her first ever competition (and first trip off farm in nearly 3 years other than for pregnancy check ups) and bought home Reserve Champion Mare over 14.2hh but the major win was how well she took it all in her stride! All our ground work is paying off!
