21.01.2022 The Adventure and Sports Special Interest Area expands on the areas of physical personal prowess in ways that are not covered in the Outdoor Adventure Skills. ...Does a Scout want to learn how to swim a new stroke, run a new distance, kick a goal from the 50m line, or follow in the footsteps of their ancestors? This is their opportunity to cross over beyond the traditional Scouting Outdoor Adventures to develop their skills and interests further! 13.01.2022 It's coming....

13.01.2022 For the last Cub night of the year we were lucky to have Stirling Hinchliffe attend, the State Member for Sandgate . Mr Hinchliffe has graciously donated a new gazebo to Sandgate Scout Group - a necessity to keep the sun off at all the fundraising BBQs . The newly awarded Grey Wolf recipients filled him on their journey through Cubs ..before they farewelled Cubs and rode the A frame to join Scouts . What an awesome way to the end the year !

13.01.2022 Venturers vs Kangaroo Point Cliffs. Fantastic night abseiling.. with a beautiful view - not that anyone noticed. The worst part was walking up those killer stairs when you were finished. Thanks to the Adventurous Activities team . Your awesome.

13.01.2022 We are lucky to have a Scout Den in such a lovely environment . We were reminded last week to tread lightly whilst running around the lagoon - no mean feat for Scouts who have missed each other for a term ! This baby Ring-tailed possum got spooked and ran very close to our campfire. He was picked up by some wonderful local wildlife carers from Brighton. Hopefully he is ok !

08.01.2022 Cuboree2020 POSTPONED until September2021 The current COVID-19 pandemic that has caused such sweeping changes to the way events are being run has meant that man...y people are facing an uncertain future. The timing for Cuboree2020 put's it at quite a risky time for restrictions to be lifted and for people to be ready to return to such events. As a result the Cuboree Executive Committee is announcing the Cuboree2020 is not going to be able to go ahead in the September 2020 school holidays. Instead, we are going to offer: Cuboree2020 to be postponed until Cuboree2021 in the September school holidays of 2021 A special, one off, Scuboree sub camp for younger scouts who would have been able to attend Cuboree2020, but will be too old for 2021. This will be lead by scout leaders and will aim to give them a more age appropriate event, whilst still participating in the rest of the event Online Cuboree2020 Around the World in 18 months will be a FREE, open to ALL cub scouts and leaders, interactive set of online adventures to keep families engaged in Cuboree right up until the event. The Cuboree Application system will continue to remain open and you can still apply or withdraw your application at any time. Refunds are still available if you aren't able to join us in 2021, but we encourage you to consider being a part of our event as the world changes around us. For any questions, please contact: [email protected]

05.01.2022 For all Scouts, Venturer Scouts and Rover Scouts Leadership Starts With YOU You+Lead Personal Development Program is an experience that takes Scouts on a three-part journey to understanding leadership and others. Applications are now open for this program. Scouts Australias Leadership Development Program, You + Lead, is a three-part journey aimed at delivering an outstanding platform for Scouts, Venturer Scouts and Rover Scouts to develop themselves through learning about th...eir own self, and then learning about how to lead others. The program follows World Scoutings Youth Involvement Policy and aims to create more opportunities for our youth members to develop leadership, 21st-century learning and community engagement skills. https://scouts.com.au/blog/2020/01/29/you-lead-2020/

05.01.2022 As 2020 draws to an end - at our last camp we said farewell to Marlin ( Stuart ) - over 6 years as a Scout Leader and finally calling it a day. I asked him what he will miss the most from Scouting - he said - the Scouts. Marlin has been a valuable part of Sandgate Scouts and we have been very lucky to have had some wonderful Leaders at Sandgate Scout Group over the years. There are way too many to mention - but every one of them has given up their time to contribute to th...e youth of our community and from further afield. I have had the honour to lead and laugh with a small portion of those Leaders across all sections . Without Leaders , Parent Helpers and Committee Volunteers - the Sandgate Scout Group would not function. So BRAVO to Marlin - and to all those who have dedicated their time and endless sense of fun and adventure to the Sandgate Scout Group. See more

05.01.2022 These intrepid hikers ventured forth on Mark’s Adventurer level hike ..We also had a Pioneer level hike running simultaneously to introduce our younger scouts to hiking longer distances with the correct equipment. Special mention to Tracy at Pomona Showgrounds who went out of her way to welcome and assist the Scouts and provided a fantastic place to camp for the weekend . Awesome location .
