A positive offset means the mounting face is towards the face of the rim, an easy way to remember is positive offset brings the mounting surface closer to the kerb but will bring the wheel assembly closer to vehicle hub. Positive offsets are common with factory rims and can be identified by their shallow dish. Negative offset means that the mounting surface is towards the inside of the rim or closer to the hub of the vehicle, negative offset offers a deeper dish and brings the wheel assembly further out towards the kerb.
