25.01.2022 Every time I walk past this area, these two Burdekin ducks are always here. Maybe they have a nest close by.

25.01.2022 Can’t help but wonder what the overseas tourists must think as they are about descend down onto the beach and are confronted with a sign like this. Crocodiles and jelly fish.

23.01.2022 Sandpiper motel 1940s. (We have done a few renovations since then). Back in those days the holiday units boasted wood stoves and kerosene refrigeraters. Owen Jenkins the proprieter, had a 110 volt generater that he ran from sunset to 10pm. Anyone needing light after 10pm had to light up a kerosene lantern. Owen's slogan for the business back then was "A millionare's holiday on a basic wage". There was a chook run at the rear of the premises. Must have been nice for the guests... to wake up to the rooster crowing at the crack of dawn. The only road into Sarina beach was a dirt track. Some of the houses in the background are still standing today. 09.01.2022 Omgaaaawd sitting in the office and I hear this... rumble... crack... crash. I look out and wonder what the hell is going on. The big Norfolk pine across the road from the motel has crashed to the ground for no apparent reason. Lucky there were no children on the rope swing and no one walking underneath.

02.01.2022 Sarina beach is very busy this morning with cars pulling up out the front everywhere. I spotted this rig out across the road this morning and had to have a closer inspection. It belongs to the Eimeo surf club who are here at Sarina beach today. Today is the Sarina, Eimeo and Mackay surf life saving Tri series.
