24.01.2022 All settled at Ilfracombe after a quick stop at Barcaldine. The Tree of Knowledge is impressive! We’re now in the Lake Eyre catchment and hopefully when we get down to Lake Eyre next month (thousands of kms away in SA), the rainwater that’s worked it’s way south from way up here in the middle of QLD will still be around!

24.01.2022 If you get a chance, stay at Possum Park on the Leichhardt Highway, 20 km north of Miles. Such a unique park with underground bunkers from WWII and train carriage cabins. Not to mention the original TAA aeroplane! But best of all, very friendly owners and fellow nomad travellers. Quick stop at Roma for lunch and a look at their bottle trees, before heading further west to Mitchell for a few days.

21.01.2022 Thinking of going on an adventure to see the Silo Art Trail in the Wimmera-Mallee, NW Victoria? Or any other silo art trail in Victoria or New South Wales or WA? DO IT! We were completely blown away by the amazing artwork on the massive silos. We did the Mallee ones over a few days, but you could start from one end or the other, and see them all in the one day. 21.01.2022 Morning walk with the birds, cows, ducks and a koala!

21.01.2022 A chance discovery of dinosaur fossils on a sheep property near Winton in 1999 resulted in the development of the amazing Australian Age of Dinosaurs Museum. David Elliott stumbled on the fossils while mustering his sheep - what a story! From small beginnings showing the fossils in a tin shed, the upgraded museum located on the ‘Jump-up’ (aka up on a hill) is now the best place to visit in Winton. 15.01.2022 We've been basking in the Brisbane winter sunshine with barely a jumper on for the last four weeks. And having an absolute ball at a family wedding! And did I mention having to quickly sell our Mothership and get a 'new' caravan? No? Well, you can forget the 'basking in the sunshine' bit because we haven't stopped! Pete can't wait to get on the road for a holiday. [ 888 more words ] https://saltandpeppernomadsdotblog.wordpress.com//four-we/

14.01.2022 The last four weeks have been magical. It's so hard to describe the beauty and wonder of Central Australia. Since my last post (Winton), we travelled further north-west and stopped a night each at Cloncurry and Camooweal. After crossing the border into the Northern Territory, we stopped overnight at Barkly Homestead. There's not exactly much of a choice between Camooweal and the Three Ways Roadhouse. 10.01.2022 I think South Australians stay quiet about how beautiful their state is, so the population doesn't explode and the state being totally ruined! We have loved being in South Australia for the last month! After leaving Quorn (previous post), we headed south to the Clare Valley to the historic town of Burra. So much of the countryside reminded us of England, especially Morphett's Engine House on the Burra mine site which is a restored Cornish engine house. 10.01.2022 We have been on the road for just over a week, but it seems much longer than that. We are having an absolute ball in South West Queensland! We’ve never been west of Jondaryan (me) or Toowoomba (Pete), so driving through Dalby, Miles Roma and Mitchell and onto Charleville has been a revelation. The landscape has really surprised me. I had expectations of barren, dry land similar to a sandy desert, so I was very surprised by the amount of trees and shrubs that were visible from the road.
