19.01.2022 Our very good friends over at Wild Mountain Child have again made a nature prompt for us all to play along with.

18.01.2022 Have you updated your family income estimate for 2020-21? Here are a few reminders of the types of income you need to include on top of the regular income you a...nd your partner earn. You need to factor in if there’s a chance you’ll: - get a pay rise - start working more hours or overtime, or - earn a work bonus. You also need to include other kinds of income, such as: - certain Centrelink payments (such as JobSeeker) - Coronavirus Supplement paid with your income support payment - certain Veterans’ Affairs payments - JobKeeper payment (paid by your employer) - income from investments - money from a redundancy - salary sacrificed super contributions, and - compensation payouts. You don’t need to include: - $750 Economic Support Payment - Early release of super because you’ve been financially affected by coronavirus - Family Tax Benefit - Child Care Subsidy, and - Carer Allowance. We have more information to help you here: www.servicesaustralia.gov.au/familyincomeestimate

18.01.2022 I think this says it all for these interesting times we are going through...

16.01.2022 I made up a few more Easter activity pages to share. Hope they come in handy entertaining (or at least occupying for a little while!) all the kids now at home -... or still at school - and bring a bit of happiness/creativity/peace/respite to everyone in the lead up to Easter! You can find the new pages at my website in the ACTIVITIES section... https://www.mattcosgrovebooks.com/new-blog Good luck to all the parents and carers and teachers juggling so much at the moment! Take care. (Activities based on Celeste the Giraffe Loves to Laugh written by Celeste Barber published by Scholastic Australia and my book, Macca the Alpaca, also published by Scholastic & Scholastic UK)

10.01.2022 It is hard to believe that a new financial year is nearly here! Which means, it’s time to update your family income estimate if you get Family Tax Benefit (FTB)... or Child Care Subsidy (CCS) for 2020-21. We’ll write to you soon to remind you. Updating your income estimate will help make sure you get the right amount of FTB and CCS. Even though you won’t pay child care fees until the end of June, you still need to update this information. If you get JobSeeker Payment, Coronavirus Supplement, or JobKeeper Payment you’ll need to include them in your family income estimate as they’re taxable payments. The $750 Economic Support Payment is not taxable and should not be included in your estimate. The easiest way to update your family income estimate is online using either your Centrelink online account through myGov or Express Plus Centrelink mobile app. Read more about this here: https://www.servicesaustralia.gov.au//update-your-family-i

06.01.2022 2020 has definitely been interesting so far, bushfires, torrential rain and now COVID19. We have seen the best of people and unfortunately the worst too. I’d like to do a huge shout out to all essential workers but in particular health care workers, teachers and early childhood educators. Hopefully this won’t last for too long and if we heed the messages - to socially distance, self isolate if directed to and lock down if and when we are asked to, we will get through this. ... Please look after yourselves and each other. x

05.01.2022 Happy belated Easter! We have been super busy over the Easter break and I completely forgot to wish everyone a Happy Easter! (Andrew and I have been redoing our kitchen. It’s not completely finished but you get a pretty good idea of what we’ve been up to.)
