25.01.2022 So proud of our Sandringham Under 11s Phoenix team! Great teamwork through the most challenging match of the year with the game finishing 2-2. They played a top quality Academy FTS Glen Eira team with both teams being unbeaten all season. ... An end to end high speed match had the coaches and all the supporters on the edge of their seats. Looking forward to the rest of the season and up and coming tournaments coming up. Soccer is definitely the overall winner here! Well done guys!!!

22.01.2022 R E F E R E E S The imaginary season that was 2020 has also affected our budding refs! We are so proud of our program which allows our players to be assigned a miniroos team for the season. They referee their scheduled home games, allowing coaches and parents to get on with the support from the sidelines.... It builds a fantastic foundation for those who go on to ref for Football Victoria and is an amazing opportunity for them to learn leadership and resilience as they navigate the sport from this different viewpoint. They also have the opportunity to guide, and teach the younger players, and not surprisingly, build up a lovely rapport with the teams they get to know. Bring on 2021!!! We can't wait to see you guys out there with your whistles #fv #footballvic #referees #buddingrefs #mentors #love

16.01.2022 Now more than ever, Victorian kids deserve the chance to get outside and be active. Back with their friends and teammates back on the pitch, the courts, and t...he cricket nets. But new boots and rego fees aren't cheap and for some families, the cost means that kids miss out altogether. We don't think that's fair. Which is why we're doing this: For the first time ever, up to 100,000 Victorian kids will be given $200 sports vouchers to help cover the cost of getting involved. New bats, balls, uniforms, memberships and sign-up fees can be paid for and the vouchers will be available next year in time for community sport to get going again. I know this might seem like a simple announcement but it'll go a long way towards making sure every Victorian child has the opportunity to follow their passion, do their best and have fun. It'll mean that the next Don Bradman or Tayla Harris doesn't miss out simply because their family can't afford the fees. And it makes things that little bit fairer too.

15.01.2022 Home games at Sillitoe officiated by the lovely Franks :) Thanks so much for your help boys! And happy to report two wins, Metro 2 V Brighton 2-1 ... and the U20s V Brandon Park 3-2

12.01.2022 Unfortunately, it is with great regret Sandringham Soccer Club has had to cancel the upcoming holiday program. Dom Gangemi lives in Western Australia and due to the CV-19 restrictions, is unable to travel to Victoria. The club has been looking at alternative coaching replacements but unfortunately, we have not been able to secure a coach with similar qualifications to allow the program to continue.... The club will refund your try booking payment in the next couple of days and we will continue to plan for upcoming school holiday programs in the future.

11.01.2022 What a great night for our challenge winners. Thanks Melbourne City!

11.01.2022 Sent through this morning from one of our fabulous club historians. Thanks Frank, a moving story and an event to remember and acknowledge. "Tomorrow (2nd January) marks the 50th anniversary of The Ibrox Disaster. I was a fledgling soccer fan at the time and it made a huge mark on me at the time. The second picture in this excellent report of the ambulance and bodies on the pitch was (if memory serves me correctly) the front page (possibly even the full front/back page) of Th...e Sun News-Pictorial. An old club legend (now deceased), Ray "Haggis" Neeson, told me that he had been on that terrace as a young man on that day. They usually exited by Stairway 13 but noted the congestion and decided to finish the bottle of whisky they had before leaving the ground. As there was still a hold-up, they left via the other side of the East Terrace. They saw a load of ambulances and assumed there had been a fight amongst the rival fans. It wasn't until that stopped at a pub halfway home that they first got wind of the tragedy. When they arrived home a couple of hours later, he was greeted at the door by his white-faced father, who exclaimed, "Thank God you're home!" About five years later, I "trained" with the visiting Rangers players, many of whom had played that day (John Greig, Sandy Jardine, Derek Johnstone, Colin Stein, Colin Jackson). Thank goodness when I talked to them, I never brought up this horrific day. Some still suffer from the memory of it. There are also a couple of good docos on YouTube worth watching - "Disclosure Stairway 13" in particular. As for dear old Haggis, he also claimed that he had been at Hampden some 11 years earlier to see what is arguably the greatest game of all time - Real Madrid 7, Eintracht Frankfurt 3. Do I believe his stories? Absolutely!" https://www.bbc.co.uk/news/extra/B0cJMZS3B1/Fiveboys
