25.01.2022 We had a fishy visitor drop into our session at Barwon heads river. The water was crystal clear and a little toadfish came right up to us and swam around the shallows letting the kids have a nice close look.

24.01.2022 We learnt about seabirds and focused on our own vulnerable species, the hooded plover. From a safe distance the kids at Ocean grove got to see a chick with its mum and dad feeding at the waters edge.

23.01.2022 Another great week at beach kinder. We made sand pictures, went on a scavenger hunt and learned about some special treasures that wash up on our beach.

17.01.2022 The seasons have changed but beach kinder continues on. We had a wonderful time painting rocks and doing a scavenger hunt. The kids loved using the binoculars to spot birds, clouds and signs. There was some great water play and sorting marine animals into ''mummies and daddies".

10.01.2022 We had a great 'crabby' first session for term 2 at Barwon heads. The rain didn't put us off, we made decorator crabs, touched hermit crab legs and when we went down to the sand there were hundreds of Ghost Crabs digging holes in the sand.

07.01.2022 The wind was strong this week and we still showed up. What a wonderful week exploring sea stars, making music with water bowls and weaving.

07.01.2022 3 more days until term 2 starts! Whoot! I have been experimenting with sun prints, resin and seaweed pressing to get ready for some exciting new things at Beach Kinder this term. I am looking forward to seeing some familiar faces and welcoming some new ones to our beach kinder family.

Beach kinder is designed for 3.5 + year olds and runs during Victorian school term (younger siblings are more than welcome to come along too). ... Facilitated by Lucy, a qualified Marine Biologist and experienced educator, the program will be getting children and families outdoors and learning about the local marine animals and coastline. There will be craft, scavenger hunts and free play to make new friendships, build confidence and creativity. 01.01.2022 What an amazing term 1! I have really enjoyed watching your little ones grow in confidence during beach kinder. I love the little treasures they show me with pride and the smiles they bring when you arrive. Have a wonderful Easter break and looking term 2.
